My friend and I got takeout for lunch at Supreme Kabob recently and it was pretty good. I got the Chicken Shami ($13.99) which was 2 skewers of ground chicken kabobs, rice, salad and naan bread. My friend got the Chicken Breast Kabob ($14.98) which was 1 skewer of chicken breast kabobs, rice, salad and naan bread. My Chicken Shami was moist and very flavourful. It was well marinated and quite tasty. The rice was soft and fluffy. The salad was fresh, but a bit boring with just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions. Be warned that the non-creamy sauce that looks like salad dressing is very spicy. Unless you love hot spicy food, do not make the mistake that my friend made by dumping all that sauce on the salad without tasting it first, lol. The white creamy sauce was not spicy, and tasted good with the chicken. I'm actually not sure which one is supposed to go on the salad, lol. The naan flatbread was fantastic and my favourite part of the meal. It was a bit crispy on the outside, but had a good amount of chew to it. There were some small blisters on the bread. I love blistery bread! I will be dreaming of this bread. Yeah, it was that good! Since we were in the midst of the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic during our visit, indoor dining was closed again, so it was takeout only. They normally have a lot of seating indoors. They don't have a patio. Service was efficient. There's free parking in the plaza parking lot. read more

I was introduced to this place by a friend and I've been a few times since. Each time it has been just as good as before. Their lamb tikki kabob and chicken tandoori kaboob are very good along with their eggplant qorma. Pricing is pretty good as well. I'm not as big of a fan of their naan bread (a bit drier than what you get with an indian restaurant) but that could be a matter of preference. read more

I ordered 3 plates total was around $70. Unfortunately we received food that was burnt really bad. When I contacted the restaurant they had alot of attitude. They told me that's most of the plate is not burnt and that's good, but I can come back for one skewer of chicken. I told them no one has apologized for the mistake or acknowledged that a health violation was done. I explained to the employee and manager about quality control. I have submitted a complaint to 3-1-1 Ottawa public health. And will be submitting the sample to them also. Bad customer service and dangerous business practices. read more

Last summer, my family and I went to this Afghan restaurant for lunch. This restaurant is located in a strip mall behind Ikea. We ordered the family pack that came with: * 4 skewers of shami kabob * 2 skewers of boneless chicken kabob * 2 skewers of beef tikka kabob * eggplant korma * naan bread * rice * salad The meat and salad were good. Since I ordered the quarter chicken its the chicken thigh, the meat is nice n juicy The portion is big, it would be good if they have a smaller portion for lunch at a cheaper price for most people but I'm happily full after. Naan is always fresh and hot and always one piece per person. Service is sometimes slow because they are so busy but well worth the wait!! When I sent it back, the owner said that that's how they make it. I asked for chicken kebabs instead. He came back again and said I need to pay an extra $2 for this. My husband and I along with our baby daughter had a wonderful meal here. We loved it so much we went back the next day! We were new to Ottawa looking for our new home and I came upon this on Yelp. My husband is Pakistani so Afghani food shares similarities so he was looking forward to the kebabs. We ordered the kebab mixed platter and choose eggplant as our side. The eggplant dish was so good it ended up being our favourite and what we ordered the next day after talking about it all night. We also ordered the carrot nut raisin rice and the chapli kebab patties which came with a delicious spicy chili achar. They were very baby friendly here too they have a changing table in their bathroom and room at the tables for a stroller. We plan on returning as often as we can. We read a lot of good things about this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. Our experience was far from being a disappointment. we were four adults and one kid and we shared a mixed grill combo supposedly for 2 plus a spinach dish and a manto plate. This was more than enough for the four adults. Our 11 year old daughter just got a side of fries and maybe had a bite or two from the grilled meat. at the end we had one bowl of rice pudding just to taste for anybody who wanted. The value for money was OK. The service was friendly enough and the food came in time. It was a snowy evening and in new year eve as the restaurant was going to close early at 8 so it was not probably as busy as it could be. I give this restaurant a 4 star despite the fact that some of the food was not consistently good. read more

But we were told we had to move stuff on the table to make room for the plate. Haha we are supposed do their job!! And then goes back to the kitchen staff to complain about us. The meats are grilled to perfection (I especially like their lamb offerings). The rice is light and tasty and the naan bread is super-fresh and comes still hot. I've dined here at least six or seven times and it is always been clean with extra courteous service and the food is excellent but I have to admit I've ordered the same dish each time! I've brought different friends and they have tried different items but I stick to my first love. The lamb kabob. Appetizers are also yummy. My favorite is the beef samosas. I wish I lived closer! Fresh food with the most delectable tastes. We always order the manto (delicate beef dumplings unlike dumplings in any other cuisine), eggplant qorma, quabelli rice (long grain rice with carrots, raisins and slivered roasted almonds), the house salad and the butter chicken. Two fat girls (waitresses) very rude. They are over-worked all the time. Tired and sweaty, with uncovered-hair, wiping their forehead and serving with the same hands. One time I was washing my hands and saw the waitress coming out of the rest room without washing her hands; I asked her why she did not wash her hands as she was existing the rest room; she said, "None of your business, don't come to this restaurant", wow! that girl has some problems; the other waitress told me. I stumbled across this restaurant because I had seen a picture and recipe for Mantu, an Afghani dumpling with a spiced meat mixture. I wasn't in the mood to create this dish myself so I googled where I could find it in Ottawa which then led me here. I will admit, I get ridiculously excited about trying new ethnic food, and Supreme Kabob House did not disappoint! I ordered the Mantu (epic) and my husband ordered the Chicken Kabob with rice and salad. We also ordered their garlic naan to share, which was honestly so incredible, an absolute must have! What I noticed the most was something that seemed so simple like the rice and salad that came with the chicken, was just so tasty! Everything had incredible flavour! My husband and I kept talking about how we had been at another restaurant the night before and had a bland and boring meal for $150, and how we couldn't get over that our $30 meal at Supreme Kabob was a million times better. We went for the mixed plate combo that includes one chicken, one beef and one lamb skewer. The kabobs were tasty and spiced just right. The combo includes a small plate of beef or chicken curry. The beef one was spicier and we really enjoyed it. Overall, the portion was good for the price. read more

We walked into this restaurant and the person sweeping the floors told us to sit at a table with left-over rice and pieces of food still on it. We looked at the menu and there is nothing but overpriced kebab and rice. Unimaginative, and not uniquely Afghan. Nevertheless, we were hungry and we had just gotten out of traffic to get there to try out an Afghan restaurant. When nobody came to take our order, we went up to the cash. After waiting 15 minutes, a rude woman told us to wait longer, until a teenager finally brought out her pad and looked up at us with a "what do you want?" face. I asked her if the mantu was fresh. She surly replied: "we make it here." When I asked her again, "But is it fresh?" the teenager got even more surly and said "what do you think it means? I said we make it here." I asked her to ask the proprietor, the rude lady operating the cash. The equally surly response from the lady: "They can take it if they want." UNBELIEVABLE. I think we would have gotten better hospitality from a restaurant in war-torn Kabul, than here. This restaurant is dirty, disorganized, and very unfriendly. The menu claims it's Afghan food and maybe that is why people come here. But this restaurant does no service representing Afghani food or people. Worse of all, the management does not care whether their food is fresh, or how to treat their guests. I keep asking myself, "who would want to eat at such a place?" RUDE AND TERRIBLE.
