Skagen watch missing numbers after having battery replaced at Karat Plus. Back was also scratched.
    John G.

I originally took my wife's Skagen watch to Kay's Jewelers (located in Haywood Mall) to have the battery replaced. They said that they did not service Skagen watches and recommended Karat Plus. The guy at Karat Plus ruined the watch. When I returned to pick up the watch many of the numbers were detached from the face. Some were floating around inside of the watch, some were missing completely (see photo). The back of the watch was also severely scratched by the tools they used to open the watch to replace the battery. They did not offer to repair the watch, they did not offer to waive the charges for the battery replacement, and they certainly did not offer to repair the damages. I took the watch to Paradise Jewelers to have them provide an estimate to have the watch repaired properly. I was informed by the owner of Paradise Jewelers that Karat Plus doesn't have the correct tools to properly perform many of the services they advertise. You should not trust this business with your watch.

The price at first wasn't bad but then I checked for it online and it was a whopping $150 less and brand new online versus $900 at this store in Asheville. I'm visiting here for a small vacation and would've loved to take this watch with me back home but I cannot justify spending $150 more for a used watch than buying the same thing online brand new! Other than that the shop itself is very nice and their repair and service kiosk is great.

What an absolutely wonderful local establishment. My partner got her aunts watch cleaned here and…read morehad a band changed. The band broke the next week, but they replaced it for free. A testament of their dedication (and maybe the band quality). After having the watch a couple weeks, I accidentally shattered the crystal. So sad. I looked at a few options, but a lot of them you needed to ship in the watch and they couldn't tell you if they could even fix it before seeing it. Also, a lot of those shipping places starting at $70 anyway. It was coach. I took it to the coach shop, but they also did not fix that. With that in mind, I went back to where she had it fixed. The people working in there were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They were upfront about the cost and let me know the waiting time. One of them makes their own jewelry and it's super beautiful. Luckily, the watch took less time than the maximum amount I would be waiting, but I was fine either way. They called and I went and picked it up today. The two humans were working and I can tell they truly want to help and enjoy their job. The Crystal was a bit particular but it looks just like new. The cost was $80 with tax which I found very fair as they replaced the battery as well. Wonderful establishment with great employees who are professional and approachable. Recommend it for sure.

Extremely Rude Staff! I normally don't leave reviews, unless it is totally intolerable. My…read moreexperience at REEDS Jewelers in Greenville, SC was so unprofessional that I feel I have to speak up, and I'll sign my real name here for credibility: Yuchen Yan, newly graduated Ph.D. from Clemson University. Here is my LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yuchen-yan-ph-d-230a5890/ It all started very simply. I had placed a deposit on an Omega Seamaster, and I sent a friendly reminder in an email: I would highly appreciate it if you could address me by Dr. Yan or Mr. Yan, instead of "hey". That's it. Nothing more. (By the way, I am well-known to my friends and colleagues as a kind and well-mannered person) Instead of a simple "Sure, no problem," the associate completely lost his temper. He literally told me, "I've never served anyone like this in my life!" and then went on with a series of offensive remarks. When I tried to clarify my point, he escalated, became increasingly rude, and then hung up the phone on me. I was shocked, this is supposed to be a luxury retailer representing Omega. I immediately reported the issue to REEDS customer care. And here's where things got even worse. The response from upper management was basically a coordinated effort to deny everything and protect their associate. They claimed there was "no disrespect intended" and tried to spin it as if I was the one overreacting, even hinting that I was "using my PhD title to demand special treatment." That's not only insulting, it's gaslighting. To make it worse, they even brought up that their staff are "Clemson graduates and diehard fans" -- as if being loyal to a university somehow excuses rudeness and disrespect. That's not an explanation, that's an excuse. The bottom line: from the associate at the counter to the director of store operations, the entire culture is one of denial, excuse-making, and zero accountability. Instead of taking customer respect seriously, they mocked me, trivialized my concern, and made me feel like the problem was me, when all I asked for was to be addressed properly in writing. If this is how REEDS trains and manages its staff, I honestly cannot recommend anyone to shop here, especially if you're expecting the level of professionalism and respect that should come with luxury purchases like Omega or Rolex. There are far better authorized dealers out there who actually understand customer service and professionalism. Now I am reporting this to Omega's official customer service team and let them know how their authorized retailers treat their customers. I'll also try reporting this on BBB. Finally I will make a video and post it onto Youtube to warn everyone not to visit REEDS. Like I said above, I have attached my real name and Linkedin profile, I held what I said accountable at any circumstances.
