She told me she could not determine whether I had an infection because she would not examine me. She said that I was sick, she had two children, and she did not want to come near me and risk becoming infected. She said the only other option she could offer was a scan. She could have examined my nose, throat, and ears, checked for sinus tenderness, and listened to my lungs. She did none of those things. Prescribing an antibiotic while admitting that she would not examine me or determine whether I had an infection was shockingly irresponsible. If you are unwilling to properly examine and care for sick patients, you should stay home instead of coming to work at an urgent care. A patient should not be exposed to unnecessary imaging and possible radiation simply because the provider is afraid of getting sick. This is unacceptable and irresponsible behavior from a medical professional. This was also not my first bad experience at this clinic. On a previous visit, I had a small splinter in my finger. Instead of examining and removing it, they insisted that I needed a scan. I left and went to my dermatologist, who removed it easily without any scan. These repeated experiences make me seriously question the clinic's management, medical judgment, and priorities. I had to go to Marque Urgent Care in Newport Beach to receive an actual examination and proper care. I intend to report these incidents to the appropriate California licensing board and the California Department of Public Health.

I get excellent quality care, and my overall experience in customer service is always on par. Sometimes everyone does get behind on schedule, and the wait times vary, so give yourself ample time when you are in this office. The parking can be crazy, but you'll find better parking during lunchtime. My best bet, schedule your appointments for this particular building, 12:00-1:00pm. That's my tip for this review. Dr. O'Connell is retiring she shared with us today at my son's 18 month old appointment. My boy wanted to follow her out as she closed door. He fell to the floor and cried. He is a feeler too. Believe it or not I had an iota something was up before she told us. It speaks volumes about her character that she relayed this in person. She loves what she does and even jokes that she's not sure she can stay away in retirement. I had an especially great reception at the front today. The girls were engaging and laughed at my jokes. Angus, the sweet and cool nurse was so sweet and helpful. She administered my boy's shot like the pro she is! And cooled my babe out like a doll face.
