This place is phenomenal. I'm gluten-free and lactose intolerant and I couldn't believe I found this hidden gem. They don't only have some of the most delicious, moist gluten-free 'bagels,' (which are more like whole wheat buns and are delicious, so good toasted or fresh) but they also fresh bake a ridiculously broad range of sweet cakes and pastries, including this divine peanut butter pie, which, straight out of the fridge tastes like creamed peanut butter fudge atop an almost chewy, lightly crunchy, chocolate biscuit base. They also make amazing cakes to order and carry great trail snacks like maple sweetened cookies and picnic favorites like their delicious vegan GF quiche (which even has my mum's stamp of approval and she is the quiche queen), Service is personal and friendly, there are seats there both indooor and out, but it's a very popular take out spot. Get there in the morning for the bagels, they have cakes and delicacies available all day long. This is a great 'small business' to support, we are lucky to have it in West Sedona. I've been wanting to check this place out for awhile and just never hit it when it was open. Yesterday was my lucky day. My husband and I both got a cupcake. He got the hostess chocolate one and I got carrot cake. I love how everything is gluten free and most everything was also dairy free. The cupcakes were delicious and not dry. Only downside is the cupcakes were pretty pricey especially for the size (I think part of this is just Sedona in general). The decor could use an upgrade as it was quite cluttered and just looked messy and not professional. Otherwise, great place! read more

We stopped here to get some treats with our coffee from next door, they specialize in vegan/ gluten free/ etc but we weren't looking for vegan. Everything lacked flavor. The ginger cookie barely had any ginger taste. The honey almond needed some almond paste or something because I could barely taste the almond or honey. I was in Sedona for a few days and was looking for a place to do some studying and enjoy some GF treats and found Karen's. I ended up eating an egg sandwich with bacon and avocado and two desserts. They have so many options and everything looks and tastes so good. They also have coffee so I got a double espresso with dessert. The shop its self is so cute and is decorated for Christmas and just looks so lovely. I feel like it would be the perfect place to warm up when it's cold and snowy outside. They also cookie plates you can take to holiday parties. The woman at the front was also mentioning that during the weekend they have their more holiday themed treats. Omgosh so good! I normally don't even bother with gluten-free desserts, but it was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself while on vacation. This place didn't disappoint! The pecan bar I got was to die for. My daughter got the chocolate doughnut and while it wasn't my favorite, she devoured it. I love that they use maple syrup or coconut sugar for a lot of there items too! We will definitely be returning when we come back to Sedona. read more

Edit: my second experience was terrible. The marketing online for "cookies" did not specify the "cookies" were sucker lollipops. We just assumed the center of the heart shaped cookies was cookie with some kind of icing. When the photos online showed them sitting on top of each other in the display case, that's what I thought it was. Not a "sucker lollipop". I had a family member drive 45 minutes to get them for me, and she didn't really know what they were but got them anyways. I immediately called the location and after a lengthy phone call the woman offered to refund the $18 for the two cookies. I never received the refund so I attempted to call back 4 days later to find my phone number was blocked! So I had to call from another phone to reach someone, which was the owner. She stated she would give my info to this woman to get me refunded. I finally got a $17 refund which is fine, but the experience to get that refund was not ok. I have never had a business block my phone number to make it so I can't call them. That is highly inappropriate and very unprofessional, considering I was very nice to the person on the other end of the phone (I have two witnesses that heard the conversation, as proof). Based on this experience and bad marketing that was misleading, I would not recommend this place. To spend that much on "cookies" that were only an outer shape of a heart is absurd. I threw away a lot of food I bought the first time because it was dry and gritty. I wanted to love this place but after this second experience I will not come back. $8-$9 for a cookie is just wrong. There are many other dairy free gluten free cookies I buy elsewhere and they range from $3.50-$4.50 each. This location in Sedona has them completely overpriced for quality and taste. I would recommend little product information cards to be placed in their displace cases so people can read what the items are and see the price up front. (They currently have cards that just say "Sedona cookie" but that doesn't tell you it's a shortbread cookie or what ingredients are in them. Nor does it say the price for that particular item) That would resolve a lot of these kinds of issues. Most dietary places do this, so people know the ingredients in the product and the price up front. I can honestly say the chalk board way up at the ceiling isn't good for people with bad vision either. The other chalkboards on the display case are also hard to read being so tiny of writing, again for those of us with bad vision. Just my own personal experience. Karen's offers an array of dairy free and gluten free goodies. The bakery is tucked within a shopping center and is hard to see from the main road, but worth it if you're looking for a local bakery. I am not gluten/dairy free, but still enjoyed the selection. This is my second gluten-free chocolate doughnut from Karen's in two weeks. I can't even describe why I love this so much other than of course, the obvious reasons: delicious, chocolatey, whip cream on top, etc. but on steroids. This is the best version of any donut I've had, gluten-free or not. The only bummer is I forgot to take a picture of the donut. Next time, I promise. Check out the rolling pins used as decor in my posted photos. So clever. There's also donut shaped pillows inside, fresh items coming out of the oven and nice service, too. Stopped by the bake shop on our way out of the CBD dispensary and man am I glad we did. The signs are all handmade and this Bakeshop is definitely local. So amazing the staff is so kind and cute! So helpful with all of our questions about sedona and what to do as this is our first time. The baked goods are so amazing and good and are the best vegan things in the world. We are not vegan or gluten free but we wanted to try it and now I'm sad there's not a Karen's Bakeshop by my house. The prices are so cheap and good ingredients. What a great find! This shop wasn't even in yelp since they just opened 3 weeks ago, so I simply had to add it! We were out and about and stumbled across this dairy free bake shop in a strip mall tucked in the back. All the desserts are either dairy free or vegan! We bought a smorgasbord of a few desserts so we could taste test them and enjoy out on their front patio. The ladies behind the counter were very helpful and the service was great. On the interior, it was nice and clean with a couple of tables where you could sit overlooking the parking lot. They have free water. My favorite was the peanut butter cupcake. There was a hint of peanut butter throughout the entire cupcake which was a nice surprise. The sweetness level was just perfect. So chocolatey and yummy. Next was the carrot cake cupcake. So delightful! The topping was airy and not too sweet. Moist interior while still nice and fluffy. The mini chocolate doughnut was a bit denser and hearty. The chocolate drizzled on top was delicious and dark. The quinoa cookie was nice and crunchy and again, not too sweet in the sugar level. We also got some chocolate bonbons but were so full, we couldn't finish them. More for later! We will definitely be back! read more

We were at a thrift store in the same shopping center when we happened to walk by this bakery and we were lured in by the smell of freshly baked bread. Like seriously we weren't hungry or planning on getting a snack but dang the smell was too good. We went in and the woman behind the counter was so warm and friendly. She explained how everything was gluten-free and made with coconut sugar. We don't have any dietary restrictions so we don't eat gluten-free, but how nice is it that this option is here for people who have Celiac disease. Anywho, we planned on getting a muffin, which turned into a muffin, 2 cupcakes, and a cookie. Honestly, it was hard to decide on what to get. They had so many delicious treats as well as pizza and quiche behind the counter. We went with the blueberry muffin, a chocolate cupcake, a carrot cake cupcake, and a butter cookie. The cakes and muffin were so moist and flavorful! The frosting was very light and not too sweet. The cookie was crunchy and buttery. My daughter wouldn't give it up lol. My favorite was the blueberry muffin. It was packed with blueberries and had a streusel on top. My husband loved the chocolate (I think it was called Rocky Mountain chocolate) cupcake. Usually after eating food like this you feel heavy and sugared up. These treats don't leave you feeling that way. I'm so glad we stumbled on this place. It was the first time our daughter had a sweet item that wasn't made by us at home. Watching her experience her first cookie was a special memory. We will come back here on our next trip! read more

I was walking around the shopping center and this new bakery looked intriguing. I was lucky the Owner, Karen, was there to attend to me and answer questions. Her products are made in store, gluten free with no cross contamination-impressive. I had the bagels with spread which were super delicious and probably the healthiest tasting I I ever had. The spread is amazing. She also makes her own packaged energy bites which I can't get enough of. I also got a yerba mate grapefruit soda to wash it down. We were looking for something sweet before heading to do a hike and found this little shop. They have a large parking lot with plenty of parking. They have several options for vegan, gluten and dairy free food items. They offer some sandwiches, pizza and soup as well as some sweet treats. I chose the butter pecan cupcake and it was very tasty. The frosting with the chopped nuts on top really complimented the cake. I will add that these treats are made without refined sugars also. My daughter got the peanut butter chocolate cupcake and it was ok but the cake itself was pretty dry. My husband had the apple pie cupcake and it was good also but again the cake itself was a tad dry. Overall these cupcakes were pretty tasty for being somewhat healthy! read more
