Not only did she go above and beyond to make sure that all my photos on our special day were perfect she also helped keep the focus on my husband and myself. extremely positive, sweet, kind, caring, and empathetic individual. If you want the perfect photos on your perfect day, she is definitely the person to go with! Anytime I ever get professional photography done going forward I will make sure to reach out to her. So I found Kari Renee Photography through an ad on Facebook. She was giving a promotion for $1,000 for just her as my wedding photographer and a 2nd photographer for about another $500. I also paid an additional $200 to have her come a couple hours sooner to take some pictures during my traditional string ceremony we have before the church service. This is a very great deal for two photographers and after reviewing her website: https://www.karireneephotography.com/ the pictures looks great to me so I got her booked. Throughout the month, we have communicated to ensure we are both on the same page and she had me send her a schedule of everything that we need the photographer. The day PRIOR to my wedding, she said she had a family emergency and cannot make it to the wedding, but per contract, she found a replacement. To me, that was fine about finding a replacement and I understand there being a family emergency, but I asked her if the replacement is still able to arrive a couple hours early to take pictures during my string ceremony since I paid her already and she wasn't sure. I asked if the 2nd photographer is able to attend early and she advised she hasn't secured a 2nd photographer but she is working on it! This really got me stressed as the 2nd photographer is not secured and now I may not be able to have a photographer for my string ceremony...I consistently checked my messages throughout the day as I'm preparing for my wedding and finally I get a message to confirm a photographer can attend my string ceremony and a 2nd photographer is secured! She asked me for the wedding day schedule again so I resend it, not a big deal... The day of my wedding, the photographer did show up for the string ceremony, and I asked the replacement photographer if she will be there for the ceremony at the church which she said yes. After the ceremony, I realized NO PHOTOGRAPHER SHOWED UP! I was very upset as I had my mom and grandma involved during the ceremony and I wanted to get some professional pictures of them as my grandma is starting to lose her memory! I was very upset about this as I now have not gotten any professional pictures during my entire ceremony even though I confirmed with the photographer that she would be there about an hour prior before the start of the ceremony! I messaged Karee about this and checked up on it and said there was a miscommunication with the photographers! She said the replacement photographer will "make it up" to me by working from 3-9pm at the reception instead of 3-7pm which I was confused about because I have paid to have both photographers there for the entire reception until 9pm...I was already going through so many stress during my wedding and that I didn't care to argue...I told my other friends about my experience who are photographers and all of them advised that if they made a mistake this big of missing my wedding, that they would reimburse me which I wasn't offered any type of compensation at all. I also found out that it was the 2nd photographer that should have been the one to take my wedding pictures and not the 1st photographer... Fast forward months later, Karee offered me a free photoshoot for anywhere I like and I assumed it was to make up for a photographer missing my wedding ceremony. I gladly accepted and asked if I can actually gift it to my friend who is pregnant to do a maternity and new born photoshoot. Karee advised those shoots require more work so there will be a fee but the offer was $400 which was an amazing deal but my friend would have to drive from Vancouver, WA to Eugene to do the shoot which my friend accepted. My friend booked a hotel, bought the maternity outfit, and had everything planned to go pick up her daughter. Then on the day of the shoot, my friend calls me crying and advised that Kari cancelled a few hours before her shoot! Before the shoot, my friend said Kari asked if she is able to change the photoshoot date as it was her birthday...my friend said she cannot change it as she needed the shoot be on that specific date she wanted (which is why I confirmed prior before giving Kari contact information to my friend if she was available to do it...) Even with the bad experience though, my wedding pictures turned out to be amazing; but it would just be if you would like to take a chance on somebody cancelling on you last minute or nobody showing up. read more

i have really considered the words i want to use when writing this review. first of all, Kari was referred to me by a friend who hired her for his wedding. he saw her ad come up and booked her and paid a hefty bill only for her to cancel and contract out photographers, which she didn't fully hire because they missed his church ceremony and were only there before and after party. in an effort to make it up she offered them a free shoot, to which they gifted me and she offered me what i considered a good deal! $400 for newborn / maternity pictures. right away she was extremely pushy with me paying full $400 right away which i didn't feel comfortable with, later i paid $100 then was asked for another $60 to book the studio. after that $160 she sent me a contract with a payment plan she outlined, and it worked for me so i signed it. she sent a venmo request for the first payment 3-5 days early, i paid on the due date. the next she requested it 4 days early i said no, she attempted to offer free items, i said no. she think requested it another day early through venmo again offering more freebies. i paid. at this point i paid $360, with $40 left at the time of the shoot 9/21. she requested the money 2 weeks early i said no. she was hounding me for the payments worst than a debt collector and it made me extremely uncomfortable but i had no choice but to keep with her. on 9/17 she text me saying the studio owner needed to close the studio at 12 pm on 9/21 and would need to reschedule i requested a full refund because now she was in breach of her contract. she could not repay me, but offered $50 and said she can pay me back 9/30 i said no. then suddenly the studio was open and she "paid extra" to book. during this i explained, im driving 2 hours to her, booked a hotel, got a court approved accommodation to have my daughter early that day to make the trip, found care for my dogs etc & i am 33 weeks pregnant. moving forward to 9/21 she cancels day of. this time suddenly is "sick with strep" and offered a partial refund. i said absolutely no i want the full $360, she claimed she would be available for newborn photos (almost 2 months away) and i quickly threatened to leave a negative review along with taking her to civil court if my money was not paid back in full. at this point she "emergency" cancelled on my best friend, attempted to cancel on me, and then did. at this point i was out $200 for my hotel and everything else including outfits for my daughter and i, and now no photographer and she is refusing to pay me back. i am absolutely disgusted in Kari, her business and her behavior. weddings, maternity photos, family photos anything else are sacred moments and people are putting trust into their photographers. i was left in tears after everything i have battled during this pregnancy and this is what this god awful woman did to me. she then states she would do the photos still but since i am pregnant it wouldn't be ideal. she finally agreed to refund me within 1 hour and waited until the last minute stating she was waiting for someone to transfer her the money. during this time i found her reviews and was even more disgusted at myself for not doing more research. i 100% believe this woman is a scam and would not in a million years recommend her to a friend, family member or even my worst enemy. i absolutely believe she hounded another client for money to pay me back. she then offered to reschedule for free, i turned her down, then offered to pay a local photographer for me to get photos but i was so ready to move on and never speak or have contact again i turned down every attempt at "reconciliation". after doing more research you can hardly find ANY social media attached to her and i do believe this is an effort to hide what she is doing. i would give -5 stars if i could. please save yourself and find a reputable photographer. read more

ZERO stars! Kari is a thief and there's nothing else I cannot stress this enough. Do not trust her and do NOT pay upfront. You'll never get your shoot, and you'll definitely not get your money back. All she had to say after I gave her repayment options and she failed after MONTHs is "I'm really sorry." Clearly this is an issue and she needs to just close her business instead of "rebrand" which is just her way of hoping no one else notices. Kari shot our 2019 wedding and did such great work. First, as part of our package, she included our engagement shoot as well, and did such great work--some of my very favorite pictures are from that engagement shoot! She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. As a huge bonus, she had digital copies of our photos to us the very next day! Then, she was wonderful on our wedding day. She was prompt, available, and not at all overbearing--very professional the whole time. She got some gorgeous shots and worked really well with our space and other vendors. read more

In a word, unreliable. My fiance and I booked Kari last winter for our wedding. We were supposed to have our engagement photos done in January, two months later and they still were not done. On multiple occasions, she canceled the day of because of sudden bouts of illness. She never had a backup plan. I tried to call her to express my concerns but she refused to speak with me over the phone. Finally, we told her that we had to get the photos done or we would take our business elsewhere. Still, she tried to reschedule. We were able to get her to find a replacement. The guy we found did a pretty good job, but he knew nothing about Kari. As soon as we got our engagement photos back I sent the letter of termination of our contract. She then tried to emotionally manipulate my fiance into hiring her again. My husband and I have been through hell and back with Kari. We just finished our 1.5 year COURT CASE with her. Do not fall for the unbelievable deals, hiring Kari to photograph anything is a mistake. 2 years ago we hired Kari to shoot our wedding. We paid for everything up front (which looking back, that is a terrible idea!). A couple months after booking she put out a great deal to "add on a second shooter". We were going to have a fairly large wedding so I thought this would be a good idea. Kari gave me a few second photographer options, and I chose one. I paid the extra money and signed a new contract. Fast forward six months. I had contacted Kari MULTIPLE times to set up our engagement shoot and had NEVER received a return email. I finally reached out to our second shooter, and it turns out that she had told Kari immediately that she wasn't available for our wedding date but Kari had hid that information from us, taken our money and had us sign a new contract regardless. I confronted Kari about the situation and let her know that I felt betrayed and would no longer like her to shoot my wedding. So I asked for my money back. We were still a year and a half away from our wedding date anyways... plenty of time for her to find new clients and us a new photographer. But she refused. She said we could take her to court if we wanted a refund. So we brought it to court. We have been in a court battle for the last year and a half. Finally her attorney said if we continue we should know that Kari would be unlikely to pay due to financial problems. We settled at a huge loss, and it's finally over. Instead of just handing us back our $2150 for services she had yet to provide- she chose court, extra fees and attorneys, and an extreme amount of stress. I would never in my life recommend Kari to anyone- no matter how good of a deal you might be getting. Take your time and money elsewhere!!! read more

She was incredibly kind and patient with us when we had to reschedule once or twice, and she made us both feel super comfortable in front of the camera. So I wish I would have read the review on her before we book kari for our 2021 wedding in oregon and while we thought we were getting a deal with her its a absolute nightmare! I thought by the good reviews she was good but I soon realize after I tried to do an engagement session with her that her communication skills are poor; I always had to reach out to her first scheduling our engagement session or checking on our pictures because she said we would have them in a few days and her lack of professionalism is not great either. I dug deeper and found reviews that pretty much describe what I am now currently experiencing with her. We were not happy with the engagement pictures, not happy that she almost lost our engagement pictures now she won't give us even half of the money back because we signed a contract with her. I didn't get the pictures that I wanted which was a fall background which she knew we wanted because we talked about about while trying to schedule the session early but she wanted to wait til we got closer to October. She said she'll keep our deposit on file for future sessions or gift to family/ friends but if we won't use you for our wedding what makes you think we would refer you to anyone. So instead of just giving us back half, she will keep it on file this makes us think she spent the deposit already. All in all if I could save someone from losing their money and going through stress with her I hope you read and think twice. At least if you want to give her a chance don't pay in full, just do the deposit so you're not out of 1000 like we are now. read more

I hired Kari to photograph our summer 2019 wedding after finding her page on Instagram. When I reached out to Kari initially I expressed my concern that all of her yelp reviews were from many years ago, Kari was so understanding and gladly sent me examples of recent work she had done, as well as contact information for recent brides she had worked with so that I could get genuine reviews. We ended up booking with Kari and could not have been more pleased! She was professional and responsive throughout the entire process, and even made it to our venue before I did! Kari made us so comfortable in front of the camera and we were able to get all of the pictures that we wanted with plenty of time to spare before the ceremony! I am upset to even be writing this.. and have been thinking of it for a long while since my wedding last July but I feel it needs to be wrote. I hired Kari a year before my wedding when she was having a "special" and I had to do a $1000 deposit right away. So there was no changing my mind and losing our deposit with our budget. Fast forward a few months to our engagement shoot, I went and got my hair done and checked in about a meeting spot and she cancelled on me and promised to reimburse me for my hair or give me a free shoot and never did. Only did our engagement..Then our wedding came, I had saw all her photos she took in the past and had high hopes, but now looking back I am so saddened and disappointed. There is not one photo of me and my husband alone looking into the camera, the ones she sent me my husbands eyes are closed. She also made some really rude remarks towards me on my wedding day which me, my husband and all my wedding party agreed she was out of line. She also asked to leave early multiple times and rushed all photos. We only have group photos under one tree in the whole venue..I get people have bad days, but this was my one day, we saved up for and still paid a good amount for the photos even with a "special"... her picture quality is good but what she did for me is not what a professional should do. No care at all. She was also months late on getting me my photo book but that was my least worry. Looking at other weddings she has done I can tell she was in a hurry and really didn't care to shoot mine or give the effort she gives others... it's really a sucky situation and I wouldn't wish for others to go through this. I bought a Living Social deal for a boudoir photo session with Kari. After many attempts at trying to make an appointment via email, we finally were able to make a date. Unfortunately, she canceled the shoot the night before by email saying that she was sick. We rescheduled for the following week. Again, she canceled the night before through email saying that she was still sick. When I looked on her Facebook page, she had talked of being on jury duty and had even posted a photo of a cocktail she had had for lunch that week. When I don't feel well enough to go to work, I'm certainly not out having a drink. I had done a lot to prepare for these photo shoots; wax, tan, nails, child care for my three daughters, etc. I was incredibly frustrated, hurt and incredibly angry that my appointments were not respected. If I had been a wedding shoot, I am sure that she would have been there the first time. I feel that Kari was very unprofessional. Kari did contact me right away after I sent her an email expressing my feelings and letting her know that I was filing a complaint. She did offer reimbursement of all expenses, apologized profusely, and still offered to do the shoot for free. Unfortunately, it was too little too late. This women is great! She was the photographer for me and my wife's wedding and we had a blast at our wedding and now have amazing pictures to relive that great day. She was on time, she was friendly, made it super easy for myself and groomsmen as we took pictures and more than anything she made my wife really happy! My husband and I booked Kari as our wedding photographer back in August 2012 and we could not have been happier. Kari was recommended to us by another photographer because we were looking for a photographer who could meet our unique needs. We had an evening/night wedding and low lighting for our reception as it was in a dimly lit barn and I talked to several photographers who were not comfortable with the lighting situation. Kari was eager to take on our wedding and made the long drive over the Cascades to make it to our special day. Not only was Kari affordable for us but she was wonderful to work with. Kari is fabulous; always friendly and responsive, and so talented! My husband and I have had three photo sessions with Kari over the past three years for our young son. We started with her when our son was one year old (we really wish we had known of her earlier for our wedding and when our son was an infant too!). We live on the east coast, but on our annual trips home to see my family, we make sure to book a session with her. She is flexible with timing and always come up with creative and artistic sites and shots. She is patient, never rushed, and puts up with toddlers' nap schedules and quick changing moods and always takes some extra family shots for us too.
