I've been a patient of Dr. Goodman's for almost 10 years. I don't know why I didn't think of writing a review for him before. Bc he so deserves a glowing review! Me staying w/him as my doc for 10 years speaks volumes. Dr. Goodman is a kind, calm and very professional physician w/excellent bedside manner & great knowledge. Like an another reviewer said, he's that 'old fashioned' kind of doc that has no 'God complex' that a lot of docs have, and patient care is his #1 concern and he encourages you to ask as many questions as you want & he will happily explain. When I didn't have insurance, he was VERY accommodating with his cash fees. Yes the wait is usually long (about 1 hour), but Dr. Goodman is SO WORTH IT. I can't recommend him enough. : ) read more

I've had two visits at Dr. Goodman's office. Here's a list of everything that went wrong: 1. During my first visit, a nurse drew two tubes of blood from me. During my first visit I specifically told the doctor I will call back the next day to confirm whether or not I want to have a varicella blood test. I called the Goodman office the next day, person answering the phone told me they threw out my blood and asked me to go to the office again to have my blood drawn. I agreed, 20 minutes later the office called back and said they found my blood sample in the biohazard bin and will send the lab that sample. 2. When I filled out a medical record release form provided by their office, my primary physician called me and said there isn't a contact information provided from their office and they can't forward the record because of he Goodman office did not provide a contact information. 3. On my second visit, my appointment was scheduled at 5pm. I left work early to be there at 5. I wasn't seen by the doctor until after 6pm. Overall I would say if you're looking for a civil surgeon/doctor, this place caused me a lot of stress and frustration in the way their office handled patient's information and is inconsiderate to my schedule. Oversight, lateness and staff rudeness are the two biggest reasons I will not be returning to this clinic. The doctor himself is fine. read more

Dr. Goodman was thorough and knowledgeable. His manner was very calm and pleasant; he was very encouraging and approached everything with the appropriate care and seriousness. The staff is pleasant; it was easy to schedule an appointment and very convenient to be able to do all the urine and blood work in-office. However, be prepared to wait. As Seinfeld said: "It says 'Waiting Room'. There's no chance of not waiting. Because they call it 'The Waiting Room'. They're gonna use it. They've got it. It's all set up for you to WAIT." I do not understand some of the negative reviews that Dr. Goodman is receiving. As stated in my previous post, I have been seeing Goodman for over a decade. Compassionate about medicine and caring for your needs. I'm thinking these malcontents visited him once and they did not like the outcome or rather some people just complain. Did I say that my Mother, the father of my children and my adult kids go to him as well. He is the best when it comes to Privacy, and personal attention. I'm confused by the fiercely negative reviews of Dr.Goodmans practice. My experience with Dr. Goodman and his staff was nothing but positive. His staff was professional, courteous, and very clear with information. Dr. Goodman made himself was very pleasant and thoroughly explained everything I needed. This doctor should get zero stars. I went specifically for an immigration medical test. He incorrectly administered the TB sin test which as per CDC guidelines should have a wheal/bubble since its administered intradermaly and not subcutaneously. On calling the office the next day Dr Goodman ofocurse wasnt available to answer and his staff after supposedly calling him back said there is no problem even if there's no whael. Here's CDC guidelines that state a pale elevation should be present for a correctly administered test. http://www.cdc.gov/tb/publications/factsheets/testing/skintesting.htm His bedside manner was gruff, suspicious and rude. The facilities were lacking and looked like there was a need to renovate and more of a make shift office. Extremely dirty and shady. Seriously I cannot believe this doctor is practicing since 1981. Amazing family doctor / GP!!!! I went to him and even though the wait was almost an hour, I could not be happier with him. He is very old fashioned, thorough, explains everything to you, and answers all your questions. Extremely professional and his office is very well-equipped. (He offers urine and blood tests in the office so you don't have to go to another lab to take them...). Great about calling back, and just the most patient helpful responsible doctor! DO NOT COME HERE. I was excited at first to find a doctor close to my apartment. Little did I know what a mistake I made. For some reason, his practice is not very advanced. He only accepts certain credit cards. During my annual physical, he only checked my total cholesterol which turned out to be slightly high and did not check my LDL or HDL. Checking the entire lipid panel is a common practice with doctors. The patient, myself, should not have to request each lab value to check. When I inquired about this, he said, "you didn't tell me you had a history of high cholesterol." I never did and if he had checked everything in the first place, I would not have any questions. Also, he bills for services you do not need. He will try to persuade you to take the flu shot even though you said no. Also, he will make you do an EKG to which I was told would be covered by insurance but of course I found out I had to pay out of pocket for it. When I requested to speak to him, he never got back to me. He could really care less about his patients and that is a very frightening trait about a doctor. read more

I've never felt so little in an office before. I was taken 40 minutes late, and all I really came in for was a prescription to refill my asthma inhaler that I take everyday. He insisted on doing a full physical, which I had already done within the last year with a different doctor. I kept protesting, saying no, and because he took me 40 minutes late, I was going to be late to work. He kept doing tests, telling me things I already knew. (I have a med-related degree, I'm not stupid). I'm on the verge of tears when finally the nurse gets him back in to write the prescription. I fill it, and he's written no refills on a med I take everyday. I've had the pharmacy call to ask for refills and he says no every time without a valid reason. I'm young, but I'm still an adult, I know when someone is trying to take advantage of me and my time. I could've been screaming and no one in that office would've listened. read more

I came here for a simple immigration medical test and left with nerve damage to my right arm. As I was waiting in the drab and run down reception area a man came in and handed a wad of cash to the receptionist. Seconds later the same man came up to me wearing a white coat and brought me into the exam room. If he had washed his hands he would have been the fastest hand washer in history. Dr. Goodman despite his strong aversion to using gloves, seemed like a decent enough doctor when he did my medical and TB skin test. However he then left me in the hands of a girl that he told me was a nurse but was actually just a 22 year old phlebotomist. My appointment was on July 5th and while she was taking my blood she told me that she was "still drunk" from the July 4th party the night before. I asked her if it was safe for her to be taking my blood and she assured me that she comes to work still drunk all the time and that she's sometimes does " a lot more than drinking" and still comes to work. She told me that the Dr here is "really chill and understanding" and simply gets another nurse to do the procedure if she is "too f**** up" and that it's great that she has a boss that she can be honest with. As this was all happening I realized that she didn't ask me which arm was my dominant one and she was already taking blood from my right arm. I left the place in a hurry and ignored the numb/heaviness in my arm and put it down to the usual pain you get from a blood test. However I could still hardly use my arm two days later when I returned for my results. I mentioned this to Dr. Goodman and he brushed my concerns away and barely acknowledged them. He said he "has no idea why that would be the case as we don't hit nerves here, just the vain". He mentioned hitting nerves, I simply asked why my arm might be numb. I asked him if a mistake could have been made and if the girl was a nurse or a phlebotomist and he said "hard to say without seeing her", and I said well the girl who you were just talking to in reception and he merely ignored me. It's now been more than 2 weeks since the procedure and I have not gotten any better. I can still hardly grip things with my right arm, and texting and holding a pen is near impossible. Upon seeing a friend who is a Dr at Yale medical school she said the only possible reason for this is that they accidentally hit a nerve and have subsequently damaged my tendon. To think I came here healthy and left with a right arm that is weaker than my left is absolutely devastating. Please do not make the same mistake I did! read more

I love my experience at Dr. Goodman clinic, the staff were amazing. I went there for blood test and I am very scared of needles and they made me feel confortable I had an amazing experience and the Dr. Goodman, he is very nice (I don't like mean doctors) I love that he ask firts how I was feeling and the way he explain to me about my tests. Very nice man and a good doctor. I only needed to see him 2 or 3 times, but he was always pleasant, accommodating, and helpful. He also obviously knows his stuff. I've dealt with docs who are not fun to go to, and aren't good people, but I'm happy to say that Dr. Goodman is the exact opposite. My only complaint is that there are long wait times, but you get that at almost any doctor's office in NYC, and that only means that when your turn comes, you get as much time as you want, too. read more

I am so grateful that my Obamacare insurance is accepted by Dr. Goodman's office. I knew he was great after my aunt, mother and sister recommended him and bc I attend many of my mother's appointments there. He is worth the minimal wait because he's professional, kind, attentive and very patient. We are adverse to taking the flu shot and he only asks if we have taken it and or would like one. There's never any pressure unlike our experience with other doctors. My selective mother likes him so much she suggested I get my physical with him. That was quite a wise idea and I'm happy I did. The bloodwork was ready in 3 days and because Dr. Goodman is so attentive he knew her health history and wants to help prevent me from developing the same ailments. His staff is also quite diverse, professional and helpful. It's really unique to find a modern community doctor today. He and his staff are highly skilled and always committed to helping patients. With their help we are able to prevent, better understand and manage health concerns. Dr. Goodman answers all of my many questions patiently and clearly in layman terms so I understand what's going on. I also never feel rushed. Since I know that he's providing the same service for others I don't mind waiting patiently. A great doctor is worth it. I needed a doctor's note the other day and I was asked to come in for a visit. Surprisingly he diagnosed bronchitis and laryngitis and gave me good reason to take antibiotics so it wouldn't be prolonged or turn into pneumonia. I am not one to take meds normally bc I'm very holistic but knowing how conservative Dr. Goodman is about prescribing medications, I knew to take his explained recommendation seriously. Fortunately, my condition improved by the end of the week. I can see why he's so popular. read more

I began using Dr. Goodman a bit over a year ago. As is the case nowadays, a friend recommended Dr. Goodman in response to my search for an in network provider. I am moved to post these comments because of my constant frustration with "customer/patient care in our current environment. Dr. Goodman, and I must also include his staff as well, make your time spent in their care pleasant and empowering. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and professionally. All data was exchanged in a timely manner and I was seen on time. (Wow!) Dr Goodman's assistants are all knowledgeable, engaging and quite caring. Dr Goodman is genuinely a man committed to his patients. All of my exams have been thorough and thoroughly explained. Dr. Goodman encourages questions and takes the necessary time to answer. Even if there are some concerns, his professional demeanor and knowledge instill a sense of "everything will be alright" as you exit. I am grateful to have Dr Goodman as my physician and I must conclude the entire experience has been worthy of 5 stars across the board. read more
