This is yet another place that I would love to like, but unfortunately the flavors don't suit me. I love tea, so was excited to try the Earl Grey Ice Cream. Bad idea tasted very soapy and artificial. Which sadly I think is just because of the quality of the bergamont they are using. Cookies and Cream was decent, but I'd rank it on par with Blue Bell Ice Cream, which makes it hard to justify their prices. read more

This place is as good as it gets and definitely one of the gems in Gainesville. Whatever city I end up in next, I'll definitely be missing Karma Cream. I study here all all all the time (probably too much, actually) but it's the only place I can really concentrate and be productive while still enjoying myself, which doesn't make all the work absolutely unbearable. Their coffee is delicious, fair trade and organic. And, ok, their americanos are ON POINT. They use coffee ice cubes in their ices coffee drinks, which is awesome so your drink doesn't get diluted and funky after a few minutes. Oh, and they have a great selection of teas, too -- lavender earl grey is my favorite. And let's talk about their ice cream for a hot sec. Vegan and regular flavors both are amazing and unique. I'd recommend getting whatever you decide on (good luck with that) in a waffle cone because they make them in-store and they perfectly complement the ice cream. It's worth the extra however-many cents, I promise. Also, everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and great. Also also, if anyone ever tells you it'd be too hard to be vegan or "it's just not the same," take them here. read more

I could never mention Karma Cream without praising their homemade chai recipe. Unlike many coffee shops in Gainesville, the staff is friendly and provides excellent service. We stopped in on our way through town and accidentally stumbled into Karma Cream. They have options for every diet and a nice place to sit for a while. We tried two of the vegan sandwiches with a house made lavender donut. The sandwiches did the job, but nothing to write home about. The iced latte with coffee ice cubes was the best part. Good stuff! Went by at almost midnight and lo and behold they were still open. Had "tin roof" (dairy) flavor and the hubs had pistachio (also dairy). Both were really good, nice fresh creamy taste, natural and not artificial tasting/looking. They also had beer and some yummy looking baked goods for sale in addition to ice cream. One of the best parts about it was the ice cream was served in a glass dish with a real spoon and the sample I tasted of chocolate lavender was presented to me on a tiny metal spoon. It's a shame that the customer service of this place doesn't match the deliciousness of their sweets. When it comes to baked good they're probably the BEST in Gainesville. However, they have a shortage of baked goods, I swear they must bake about 5 cupcakes a day. If you go at noon you might be lucky to get a cupcake or any baked goods. I go there maybe twice a week in hopes that a cupcake or donut is awaiting me in the case. Unfortunately the servers are unpleasant, rude an unwilling to accommodate for the client. This place is amazing, open late and serves amazing vegan sandwiches, best Reuben ever! I am obsessed with their vegan ice cream, sundaes and milkshakes- especially the sundaes with vegan gummy bears, cookie dough, and salted caramel topping. Also a great selection of teas, cookies and cakes, brownies, etc. The staff are always so friendly and one small thing I noticed is that they use metal spoons to taste ice cream flavours and ceramic bowls/plates for ice cream and food unless you are having take out which is very mindful of being eco friendly! The only downside is that it is often busy and all the tables can be full sometimes and have to wait until someone leaves to get a table but I guess that's the problem with it being so popular! read more

It has been a long time since I went into an ice cream shop. It was frequent visits to parlors that made me realize I'm not among the lucky few who can stomach milk. So-- while looking for vegan noms Karma Cream popped up. An ice cream place that serves up non-dairy ice cream? Whoa. Floats and Blue Sky cola plus vegan cookie sandwiches.... oh god. They have a nice selection of flavors too. Much like you'd find at a typical ice cream parlor. Some standard some more inventive. The only hiccup is a majority of their cream is coconut based so if that's not your style then it might not be worth it. However, they have normal dairy ice cream too. I haven't been in a long while so if they've added new bases then awesome if not, I hope they eventually will. There are lots of tasty things that can become ice cream so why just coconut? :D Though... in truth there is only so much display room. I hadn't had a float in years so I got a scoop of coconut based vanilla with their blue sky soda. Very adventurous... I know. Regardless it was quite lovely and the vegan cookies were so good. I had hoped to grab more before I left, but alas. I didn't find the coconut flavor overpowering... was subtle. I suppose it also helps I like coconut. Staff on that day was really friendly and helpful too. If they've become jerks in recent days... my bad. The venue is small and coffee shop like, but not modern. This is a very nice ice cream and dessert place. It's one of my favorite places to study in Gainesville. Their matcha teas and lattes are superb. One of the best things about karma cream coffee is that they use ice cubes made out of coffee when you buy their iced lattes which makes it heavenly when your ice melts in a Florida summer. I want to love this place but here's the deal -- you can buy their vegan ice cream (I think the brand is Coconut Bliss) in Gainesville (Lucky's probably Ward's and Publix). That being the case there is way better vegan ice cream out there that you can buy at the store. The vegan baked goods are pretty good but so far Curia's vegan desserts are better. Curia's shortbread is the best. K.C.'s coffee is so-so. In general the coffee and drinks are expensive. The iced coffee/cold brew is acidic. Chai tea starts and ends with Cardamoms & Cloves. Cinnamon is optional. But ginger is not! Also, Chai made from scratch is a rarity indeed. I swore after Oprah's starback chai latte I would never touch the stuff outside India. The main point is chai is not a powdered flavor you can stir like a whey protein milkshake. I cannot emphasize enough what a little oasis Karma Cream has been during my years as a student at UF. Whether a night of studying, a quick date, or a peaceful place to catch up with friends, Karma Cream cannot be beat. First of all, the food, drinks, and ice cream are amazing and perfect for more health-conscious individuals. I love the breadth of available teas (all $2 a cup, which is a total steal) and the always changing but forever creative baked good selections (always with amazing organic, vegan, and gluten free options). The ice cream (available with and without dairy) is absolutely delicious (the lemon cookie being my personal favorite). Plus, the sandwiches are great too! The atmosphere itself is quirky but inviting; small but with two levels and usually plenty of seating. Parking can be an issue, but the meters are usually available on weekdays, and community parking is lifted after four and on weekends (plus, if you're a student, you can probably walk from campus depending on where you are) But, MOST IMPORTANTLY, customer service is some of the best I've seen in Gainesville. The baristas are always so friendly and patient, and not only willing, but excited to help you make a decision! Interacting with them is always a breath of fresh air especially since every other (major) coffee shop in Gainesville is notorious for poor or subpar service. Vegan ice cream was a totally new experience for me. Honestly, my daughter and I were just walking down the street and saw an ice cream shop and wandered in. It's kind of a hipster joint, a few blocks East of UF. The girl there working let us try samples of a few things, which was helpful.
