This review is sooo long in coming since 7/2025. I love Dr Bowens!!! I let her know every chance I got, as well as how beautiful she is! She must of thought I was such a weirdo! I tear up to this day when I think of how The LORD took care of me through her!!! I didn't know I was in the best hands, as my other 2 were not with her. After delivery she took such good care of me!!! I'd cry every time she stepped into my hospital room to tend to my c-section. Never in my life did I feel so taken care like how she showed up for me at the Hospital. As a patient during the process, little did I know she was up all night and mornings delivering babies and making rounds for their mothers at the hospital, and then still show up at the clinic answering all my anxious questions as patiently, calming and assuring as she could. To say I LOVE HER and will never forget her just humbly being herself is an understatement! Please be kind and supportive of her too. She deserves the world. I love you Dr. Bowens! This woman is an absolute disgrace to the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Her office is chaotic, it's a terrible place for a pregnant woman to be at any time during her pregnancy. They send you into a bathroom to give your urine sample. The bathroom is the size of a shoebox with absolutely no room for the growing pregnant body. To top it off they over schedule over book, and you are going to be communicating with at least four or five people just to get from the front desk into your appointment. The rooms are tiny. She will not spend any more than 15 minutes with you at your appointment. She is stuck in her ways, stubborn, and has not grown as a doctor in however, many years she's been practicing. Do everything you possibly can to avoid working with this doctor. at my 37 week appointment in 95° weather, I mentioned that I was feeling tired. Her response was it's because you're gaining too much weight. Now mind you, she has never asked me about my nutrition about my exercise. She never even checked to see what my pre-pregnancy weight was. She never checked to see if I had any eating disorders or anything that might be affecting my weight. She simply said your weight is just too much to be healthy. Never did any investigating to find out anything about me. I am an extremely healthy and active person. And have only gained 40 pounds during this pregnancy. I'm nine months pregnant, of course I'm tired. That is to be expected when you were nine months pregnant. Again, I would never recommend this office or this alleged doctor to anyone. She is absolutely terrible. Her office is absolutely terrible and she should not be touching any woman's body or working with anyone. read more

I normally do not leave negative reviews, but my experience at this OBGYN office was extremely frustrating and disappointing. The front desk staff repeatedly failed to properly document information and did not send important paperwork and medical records on time for my authorizations, despite multiple calls from both myself and my primary physician's office. I was dealing with severe pain during my pregnancy and instead of receiving support and urgency, I was constantly given the runaround. Nothing was being sent over until I finally had to physically go into the office myself, while in extreme pain, just to obtain my own medical records. Communication, organization, and patient care from the front office staff seriously need improvement. Pregnant patients should not have to chase down their own records and authorizations while already dealing with medical concerns and discomfort. read more

Monthly check ups.. wait time varies but it gets busy so don't expect to be in and out. Once inside appt last 5 minutes tops. If you're having any issues physically or mentally due to pregnancy they don't care. They'll brush it off and maybe refer you out and add more stress. They provide the minimum care needed during a pregnancy. Best thing out of there is the Nurse practitioner she's the only one happy doing her job. Such an outdated office. So many woman nurses working there and not only that, they are rude! Just a few were nice but the rest had horrible attitude. I got to see "Dr" Bowens a few times and those few times at the end of my appointment she would ask "do you have any questions or concerns you need to ask or let me know about" of course I did! I'd ask her the questions and you know what she would tell me "oh i can't answer that for you , you have to ask your primary doctor" how the heck are you an OBGYN but can't answer me a simple question?? I was so uncomfortable with the fact my baby was going to be delivered by her. She's making money off these patients and has them cramped up in an outdated office?? It was disgusting and dirty. We had been looking for good medical care for my girlfriend and are very grateful to have found it. No sense of urgency. Neither for care or follow up. Clinic is always overbooked so be prepared to wait for at least 3 hours. I've been very patient for 3 long years. Dr. Bowens is an excellent obgyn. My daughter was her high risk patient and she did her emergency c-section at memorial care millers children's &women's hospital long beach. Dr. Bowens made sure her and my grand baby was excellent doing the surgery and thank god for this women's hands. Also her office and staff are great. read more

My girlfriend is having the worst pregnancy with this doctor . She has made it extremely hard to get through this time . We have to terminate our pregnancy due to issues with the baby and This "DR" has not helped one bit . She doesn't answer messages , she has not shown sympathy , shown any remorse or care for her and our baby, o type of help when you need her the most . since this is such a tough time you would expect your dr to be there for you . Instead it's very long wait times in the phone , getting the run around from their rude ass staff (ALL OF THEM) , and appointments set way far out on something that has a large amount of urgency . Dr Bowen's is a great Dr., but not great at running her practice. First I'd like to point out that I never saw my dr until I was 36weeks pregnant. Even when I was 30 weeks pregnant and asking to please see the dr so we can go over my birth plan, the nurse assured me it wasn't necessary and we would talk about it two weeks before I'm due. The office itself is very small and always crowded with lots of patients(they don't enforce masks so be prepared to wait outside for safety if you're pregnant. Inside it's crowed with rude male students who don't say excuse me or know to step aside when there is a hugely pregnant woman coming thru. Besides that I'd like to think my birthing experience did go great at Long Beach memorial hospital. I had a C section by Dr Bowen's and she did amazing! I healed quick and was able to go home in 4 days. When I had to go back to the office for my post partum appointment, I was questioned by a student to see how I'm feeling. I mentioned to her that I have been extremely anxious and she said that's normal and carried on. My husband was behind her and read that she wrote that I told her that I was feeling fatigue. I did have a break down while being seen by my dr because I was anxious about people not wearing masks around my new born in the waiting room. I will definitely not be going back in the future to save myself from anxiety. Thank you dr Bowen for birthing my child and taking good care of me in the O.R., but please evaluate how things are run in your practice. I'd also like to mention that I've read bad reviews regarding the staff being rude and that was not my experience, the front desk staff was always polite and accommodating to me and so were the nurses who took my blood and vitals. Very friendly and professional. I'd suggest to maybe book less appointments for the same day to avoid the crowding in the waiting room, and to inform them before the appointment to not bring more than one guest/wear a mask. read more

Dr. Bowens is the best! She really cares for her patients and her staff treats me like family. This is a very busy practice that definitely still takes the time to listen and hear the patients. The practice provides up-to-date and new, innovative testing for patients as well which is important. I have been going to Dr. Bowens for over three years now and will continue to go given my experience with her. She is kind, good bedside manner, and truly values her patients. This Dr is garrrrrbage! Where is the 0 star?! I was in her care 2 years ago and I'm still so upset with what happened to me that I'm finally writing a review hoping that some mama will read this and change whatever they have to change to not be in her care! You will be waiting for forever in her waiting room for her to see you for 5 mins literally hi how are you? Ok good don't drink caffeine, see you in 2 weeks 1. My baby was small and NEVER not once was I informed about the baby's weight or anything of that nature, being a first time mom I honestly didn't even know the right questions to ask but I hoped that my dr would guide me and make me feel safe....uh nope 2. For days I had a headache and small contractions and I called her office multiple times to speak with her and her office staff would say they would call me back which they never did and I even when I followed up multiple times, I never actually spoke to the dr, which ok no big deal she's always busy af, they finally said oh it's just Braxton Hicks but if you want just go to a hospital. Never did they offer we will move up my appointment so the dr can see me even after days of waiting so some kind of response. WELL COME TO FIND OUT I HAD PREECLAMPSIA! And when I went to the hospital the staff there rushed me in so quickly because they thought forsure I was going to stroke out right in front of them because of how severe it was! So that was just a blast 3. After I gave birth unfortunately she was still was gynecologist so I had to see her for my 6 week check up, in the middle of all this I got a urinary infection and asked to make an appointment with her earlier to get antibiotics. I am not joking you they gave me an appointment for 2 weeks away because now that I had given birth I wasn't a priority patient anymore and had to wait in the back of the line basically! I just cannot believe everything that happened in this office and I still get so upset because I could have lost my son due to her negligence. She has absolutely no bedside manner and you are a number to her 100% of the time So sad there are doctors out there like this, and nobody really can do anything about it and they just continue to not give a damn and collect their checks read more

I was very nervous going into surgery but her demeanor, calmness and support made me feel so safe and so comfortable. I knew I was in good hands. When I changed jobs, I was forced to also change insurance carrier and find all new doctors. When I found out I was pregnant, Dr. Bowens was one of the doctors that popped up in my search results for an OBGYN. My first visit ended up being my last! Despite having an appointment, I waited in a cramped waiting room, close to 1.5 hours to be seen. There were so many people that there was an overflow to the hallway outside of the office. The space is so small that you can't expect to have any privacy so be prepared for everyone to know your business. In addition, the doctor spent a maximum of 5 minutes in the room with me, despite us having a number of concerns with this pregnancy and a number of questions. It was clear that she was in a rush to get out. I would highly suggest that you find a different provider if you want a good experience. read more

I don't even know where to start off from. But let me tell you my experience with this so call "Dr".. so she was my OBGYN back in 2020, I was scheduled to be due on Dec 21st.. so my entire pregnancy was going well until I hit about 37-38 weeks.. I had concerns about my pregnancy because I would tell her as a "Dr" that my baby wouldn't really move, so she decided to just give me a paper to monitor how many times a day he would move. Let me try to make this short... I was new to this journey! At the time I was about 39 weeks pregnant and she seen I wasn't opening and she knew how big my baby boy was. She said she does C-sections at 38 weeks, I was 39 weeks when they did and emergency C-section because they couldn't find my baby boys heart beat... again she was there but wasn't the one to deliver me. She didn't let my husband know I was going into an emergency c-section.. after coming out she told him someone else had delivered me and she told me she delivered me? Like that doesn't make sense... & THANKS TO HER, MY BABY DIDN'T MAKE IT! anyways going on forward.. my husband found her Record, and you guys won't believe what he found. SUSPENDED LICENSE, SHES BEEN SUED FOR ALL KINDS OF STUFF. best believe I can type an entire story of her and it will go on. SHE DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE WHAT SHE CLAIMS TO BE! I WILL REMAIN TO MAKE JUSTICE FOR MY BABY BOY. I just don't want none of this to be happening to other moms. read more

Worse obgyn ever. When I was pregnant not once did I see her! I was always seen by the nurse practitioner the entire 9 months of my pregnancy. I had to get an emergency c section because she broke my water too early and my daughter nearly died! She made it seem like it wasn't a big deal that my water broke. She left never came back to see me. She arrived some time after my c section and while I was barley waking up she kept asking me to give her a number to call to notify my family that I had delivered. So what was the point of signing all paperwork for the hospital in case of an emergency. I stayed 5 days in the hospital and I spoke to her once in those 5 days read more

Wish I could give zero stars and had really paid attention to prior negative reviews because they're right I told Dr. Bowens about my heavy and very painful periods. I told her about my chronic fatigue, my 2 cm ovarian cyst and my new symptom of hot flashes. She seemed to listen and actually care. But she didn't even order a new ultrasound to make sure my cyst is shrinking. I said "heavy periods aren't normal" because of research I did on my own. She told me that heavy periods are normal, I'm just unlucky. She also said this about other women that have heavy periods. To her, we're the "unlucky ones". She also said "heavy periods are normal so get that out your head." The whole internet is filled with information from doctors and health websites saying that menorrhagia, heavy bleeding, is abnormal and needs to be treated because losing a lot of blood leads to anemia. I think this was the most awful, disregarding, dismissive, gaslighting, mean and rude thing I've ever heard a doctor tell me. She's almost saying it's our fault we didn't hit some magical genetic lottery but we need help. I was hoping she'd help me but she didn't. She made me feel worse. I understand why one of the commenters cried in their car because I almost did the same thing but was too shocked and angry. This doctor showed zero compassion for me. I wish I could recommend her but I can't. Please don't do it and look for a doctor that will actually care about you and your symptoms. read more

I was very disappointed with this office. The staff wasn't very friendly (except the lab tech, she was kind). The wait time is too long and the lobby was FULL (this was around May/June during the lockdown and social distancing). They didn't allow my partner in, so he couldn't see the ultrasound of his baby BUT being crammed in an over crowded lobby with was okay to them. The doctor spent less than one minute with me in the room, she walked in did not introduce herself (I thought she was the ultrasound tech) she did the ultrasound for about 10 seconds, said "everything was okay" and left the room. very disappointing to anyone and especially an expecting mother. I finally switched HMO groups and found a better provider. BUT then I needed MY MEDICAL RECORD from Dr.Bowens office sent to my new provider. This never happened. After many many phone calls and requests from me and even from my new provider, we never received my medical record. Do not come here for prenatal care! Worst clinic to come to. Front desk lady isn't pleasant and not knowledgeable in other areas. The rest of the staff are snotty and rude if you ask them a question they tell you "talk to Wendy" as if they can't give you some insight, so what are they useful for!?! Second all nurse practitioners are students that makes it worse because you're not building a bond with ur doctor or the nurse because it's always someone different seeing you. sonograms only go until you are 20 weeks you won't receive anymore nor see ur baby on the ultrasounds besides for the 5 seconds of heartbeat they let you hear. Garbage! If you have any concerns of any sort they gaslight you and say "it's normal" and dismiss your symptoms. When my baby was born I was told they were able to see him for his first appointment and they told me they don't I'd have to look for a doctor for my newborn to be seen although through my insurance when I spoke to them I was told they were and should've been able to see my newborn on the first week he was born they did not.! People inside the cubicle are loud The last time I was there which was about a week ago I was hearing different female workers in their little office discussing another patients medical history amongst one another out loud I was sitting in the waiting room and I heard the female patients medical issues she was having SMH! No privacy they're loud I found that to be wrong and should change! I'm definitely changing providers again because this clinic is not it they don't know how to do anything, they don't help with PPD nor anything of that department. They'll just tell you to look for your provider to help with that. So what's the point of asking how you're feeling after birth?? If they can't do anything to help you find some resources. SMH I figured it's a woman's clinic but it doesn't seem like it. Do not come here You won't like it. Go elsewhere get better care than this place! Reviews don't lie! read more

It is unfortunate this clinic remains open. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE at all cost! Dr Karol Bowens has been the most dismissive and unhelpful doctor I've ever encountered. NOT SURE HOW ANYONE CAN TRUST THEIR PREGNANCIES HERE. To start off my appointment was rescheduled by someone named REGINA she left me a voicemail YAWNING AND BURPING WHILE SHE RECORDED THE VOICEMAIL! Disgusting and not to mention HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. I show up and wait for almost 3 hours! They finally call me and they are about to do a procedure that I had no clue about! SCARY, I KNOW! I asked the girl who put me in a room what was going on and she WAS CLUELESS! I literally had to ask her if she can please go ask whats going on! At this point im scared & super confused. I was told to get an exam prior to my appointment and NOT ONCE DID DR BOWENS EXPLAIN the results AT ALL. She dismissed my concerns not to mention SHE LAUGHED WHEN I ASKED A QUESTION! After she rushed our 5 minute visit all she said was "just wait and see how you feel in a couple more months" like are you serious? Dr. Bowens told me she does not believe in endometriosis! She said that people that believe that have endometriosis just wanna hear that they can't have kids. She if I wanted to know if I had endometriosis to try to have kids. Then said okay so let's say you have endometriosis...then what??? We have a hysterectomy ??? How can you be a doctor and speak to your patient like this?? She was so belittling and shared no care for me. I have cyst on my ovaries and it had made 3 months from the time I've been seen by a doctor. My symptoms were/ are getting worse which is why I went in , she didn't nothing but lecture me and embarrassed me in front of one of her assistants. Never meant such a BITCH! I was in tears when i got back to my car after my first and last appointment with this rude, sarcastic so call of a doctor. She never answered my very personal questions all she gave were smart Alec responses. They asked if they could have a intern person to listen on my consultation i agreed thinking it would be one other person. 5 PEOPLE WERE CRAMMED IN A TINY ROOM WHILE SHE AGGRESSIVELY CHECKED MY INSIDES. This place is horrible. On top of being asked personal questions in a room that doesn't provide any type of privacy they wait time is horrible! What's the point in having an appointment when they are never running on time! I asked they lady at the front desk and she decides to blame the patients instead of their horrible scheduling. If a patient is new save a certain amount of time for that patient especially when theirs only 1 dr and like 10 students here! This is my second time here my first appointment time ran at approximately 3 hrs and I thought maybe because it was my first time but now I'm starting to see that this is how this clinic is runned! If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I went in today for a papsmear and I had an appointment and took 2 hours to get called in. The nurse was extremely rude and they don't even provide you with dressing gowns, just a paper towel to cover yourself. I told the doctor I wanted to discuss my period because it's been irregular and told her that when I scheduled the appointment they said I would also get a pelvic ultrasound but she went on to say that she needed to put in a referral and to just keep monitoring my period.
