    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

    Valvoline Instant Oil Change

If I could give zero stars, I would - Worst customer service experience of my life…read more I took my car to this Valvoline location in December for a routine oil change. There were no issues with my car beforehand. The very next day, when starting my car, it began making a loud, grinding noise ONLY when turning the ignition, which I had never heard before. The sound was alarming and unmistakable. I took the car immediately to my mechanic. He told me the wrong weight oil had been used, causing the timing chain to make that grinding sound. He lubricated the timing chain, the noise stopped completely, and I spent a couple hundred dollars having everything checked and corrected due to the oil change mistake. I filed a complaint, and a district manager called me. Instead of taking responsibility or even listening, he was hostile, dismissive, and accusatory. He claimed he reviewed video footage and insisted a male employee changed my oil. This is flat-out false. A woman changed my oil, and I clearly remember this, I even commented on it later that day because it's unusual to see. He repeatedly told me my own experience was wrong, which felt like blatant gaslighting. He then tried to blame me, claiming my car had gone 12,000 miles without an oil change, despite the fact that I get oil changes every 5,000 miles and had simply been going elsewhere previously. He also absurdly claimed he could "hear the grinding noise" on the video which is impossible and that the noise existed before the oil change. It absolutely did not. I would have noticed a sound that loud and disturbing. I never heard it before, ever. He continued shifting blame, suggesting the timing chain "needed servicing anyway," contradicting the entire situation and ignoring the fact that the noise appeared immediately after their oil change and disappeared once corrected. My husband was present and also spoke with him. He was just as rude and unreasonable with him. There was no apology, no accountability, no attempt to resolve anything. All I asked for was a refund for the oil change and possibly reimbursement for my mechanic's inspection. He offered nothing. This was, without question, the rudest and most unprofessional customer service experience I've ever had. I regret going there and should have trusted my instinct when I pulled up and the place was empty. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to think twice before trusting this location with their vehicle.

I also had just received a coupon in the mail from them, so it seemed as if I'd finally get it done. Their website reflected a closing time of six o'clock PM, as did the hours of operation posted on the door. I arrived at 5:30, and while I wasn't certain they'd be able to fit me in, it was worth a shot. I parked in front of the bay marked "oil changes," but no one ever came out to my car, even though there were at least three employees working inside. As it's my first time at Meineke, I thought maybe it doesn't work like that and I should go inside to receive service. Although I'm sure the guys at work saw me walk to the office, the office was eerily empty and even after mulling around for apx 10/15 minutes, I had yet to be acknowledged or helped. (As an aside, the phone rang twice while I was inside and it appears they don't deign to answer calls either.) Finally, I opened the door marked "Employees Only" (in the shop area), and stuck my head in. As luck would have it, I made eye contact with an employee who was passing by. He didn't seem thrilled to see me and didn't say anything, but let's give him the benefit of the doubt - Maybe he was startled. So, I spoke first and asked if anyone was working in the front office so that I might get some work done on my car. Imagine my surprise when he replied, "Oh; we're closed." "But it says here that you don't close until six," I retorted. "Yeah, well we closed up a bit early today," the grease monkey opined as he sauntered off to wherever. At this point, I decided it probably wouldn't be wise to let this crowd touch my car with a 10' pole, and I made my exit. On the way out I did notice that the open sign was still on. Easy mistake, I guess.
