Went in for an oil change, and asked to get my bottom cover of my car to be screwed back in, I even brought in my own screws for them to use. Found out they zip-tied the cover back and never told me. Then when I went back to get my A/C checked I got my car back with a crack on my windshield, they once again, didn't tell me. I will not not be coming back. read more

I knew they were acquainted, but I certainly didn't realize he cared about my divorce, or that he was (quite obviously) told negative untruthful gossip about me until he refused me service. I needed a new tire, but Mr. Karsten wouldn't even let me describe the issue. He took one look at me and said, "Take it to Walmart." and walked away. I had never met him before that moment. Here's the thing, the people who do the work are nice people, sure they have some issues with a curtain person who's at the front desk sometimes who is shockingly rude!!! They aren't mechanics of top notch abilities but they are great for tires, oil, brakes and other minor things like this. I can't give them a higher mark then three stars because I went around in a circle with them on something that was very simple that I fixed myself in a day, they couldn't figure it out in a week. I've only been here once but it was a positive experience. They changed my headlight that was out with a bulb I had already purchased when the other side had gone out. This side was a bit more involved to change and I didn't want to mess with it. They got it done pretty quickly even though they didn't seem entirely confident (it's a weird car). Docked two stars. I used their website to request a quote on quite a bit of maintenance I needed done and they never responded. Wanted to stay local but ended up going to a dealership in Elmhurst who happily contacted me/took my money. read more

They're so nice if you wanna drop your car off they will give you a lift back home and pick you back up when you're cars done. The man behind the counter, Tim, was incredibly rude and unprofessional to me when I decided to bring my car somewhere else due to their very high prices. I was huffed at and ignored, yelled at about my decision, had my keys thrown at me, and was treated HORRIBLY. The woman working behind the counter with Tim was no better; I have never been treated so poorly by someone who should want my business. Do not go here, these people have no idea how to run a business and they are incredibly rude, short, and unprofessional. They're psychotic and abusive to their customers. I will NEVER give them my business and I would encourage everyone in the area to do the same. I have always received very good service from Karsten's. I only get my oil changed there, but they always seem nice , and do a pretty thorough job. I would give 5 stars. We have been customers for years and never had a bad experience. Have had oil changes, tires, repairs and been treated very good. Tim, Tom and Penny are friendly, accomodating and fair, pricing is fair as well. Recently, my car broke down and had to be towed to Karsten's. Tim went above and beyond to check if there were any recalls and there was. He even called Nissan to make sure. By doing this, it saved me over $1000. I'm sure other repair shops would not have done this. We recently moved out of the area and will continue to drive the extra miles to have our car serviced there. Thanks to all of you. read more

this place is a complete rip off i have taken multiple cars in for oil changes but this time i sent in my daughter to get an oil change on her VW. they charged her over 50 dollar more then the dealership does and they used cheap napa parts not even OEM plus they added a 30 labor charge when i was just in 2 weeks ago n was only charged $9 labor on another of my cars. i callled in bitching that they took advantage of a young woman on this oil change. ... i was told by ZACK to talk to someone who cares n he hung up on me.... i'm done paying his huge mortgage on that mickey mouse shop read more

Karsten's will service our vehicles until we die! I had my oil changed here, but a few days later my engine seized up as I pulled into my driveway. Tim Karsten determined that the plug must not have been tightened and fell out, which drained my oilpan. He could have lied or refused to stand behind his team, but he didn't! At no cost to me, he replaced my engine. Everyone but Jesus Christ makes mistakes. It's what happens next that matters. Tim proved to us that he can be trusted. I have used this place for about a year now for oil changes on both of my vehicles. They are pleasant, helpful and quick!

I just had the most horrific experience ever with a mechanic. My parents warned me not to use this place as they charged my mom $75 to run a diagnostic test that Auto Zone will do for free only to tell her they didn't know what was wrong. Today I brought my car in after my brother had done front end work just for an alignment, and to look at a tire. I let them know I was aware additional work needed to be done and I was aware I would need another alignment following that work. When I picked up my car they had done nothing but charged me a $20 inspection fee to tell me exactly what I had already told them when I dropped the car off and never looked at the tire. When I stated that no reputable mechanic would charge a fee for doing nothing this unbelievably rude woman behind the counter who I can only assume was an owner screamed at me that if I had a problem with it she suggested I not bring my car back. I said can I have my keys so I can go and she huffed at me "I don't know where they are" and walked away. No problem lady - UNBELIEVABLE. I will say my family strongly recommends the small mechanic next to Subway and says he is fabulous. read more
