I was a long term customer, over 10 years. We had the family vehichles serviced there. My last service was two simple items. One they did not do at all (bleed brakes), the other they returned the car reassembled incorrectly, other systems now not functioning, and new parts broken by the tech. Additionally the very high bill is not itemized with the labor rate & hrs vs parts. The owner only repeated his techs excuses and not serious about fixing the issues or explaining the bill. Beware! I've been bringing my vehicles to Bunge's for well over a decade. I've typically found them to be straightforward in explaining the situation with my vehicle, prompt in doing the work, and good at communicating the status of the repair or service. Over the years, I'd come to know the guys at the counter well and they had built up some trust with me. For this recent service, I had obtained a quote from a local dealership of $460. I typically would go to Bunge's to avoid paying "dealer" prices. When I told the man at the counter the dealership price, he said that he'd match that price. In the end, the total cost of the service came in at $451 (just below the dealership cost). I'm thrilled that they matched the dealer price and I was able to support a local independent business. Came for an oil change and not a single person in the entire building was wearing masks. When asked if they wear masks one responded with "We can stay away from you if you'll like", then proceeded to cough all over their screen. Disgusting never coming back here again. Edit response to owner: Hello Steve, I'm a healthcare worker, and I'm still very unpleased. Contracting the virus and recovering does not ensure safety of no longer spreading the virus. The ONLY reason for the one star review is that NO ONE wears a mask or gloves in this establishment. When a gentleman walked in and said he forgot his mask (who does that nowadays?) and was told not to worry about it, I had enough. Talk about a bunch of Butchers the auto body shop Tredup's Brought my tire in to have a new rim and tire mounted on my 2020 Chevy Silverado at Bunge's tire and auto in Elgin due to an accident when I picked up my truck from the body shop I had requested the old tire and rim be returned to me for a spare they told me there was a core charge on the old rim which was weird because Dealers do not charge core charges on rims so I had to go to Bunge's and pickup the old tire only to find out the inner bead was destroyed when I confronted the service advisor he told me how do I know it wasn't like that when they brought it in REALLY on a brand new Truck with 6K miles just a Ridiculous answer,  Then he proceeded to tell me we have state of the art equipment meaning that it could not happen Well there is a difference between having state of the art equipment and knowing how to use it , Then he says it will probably hold air and wanted me to buy a rim (Wait Where's my old one ?)  well before all of this started I brought the tire  to another tire shop (discount tire )and they said the tire was Junk! See photos ! Again  I have to say These guys at Bunge's are some serious Butchers wonder how many other people are running around with their tire beads tore or even worse some shoddy mechanical work. 2/19 to his reply : Insurance was never involved, Never wanted two tires and rims back only the one replaced that they butchered up. read more

Im new to the neighborhood and the two common problems I run into being in a new area is finding a good honest mechanic and a good Chinese restaurant. So I brought my car in for an oil change, alignment, and AC Evac (so I could change out a part). They aligned the car and it rides smooth and straight...no parts needed to be change out so we were very happy. AC evac done well (I didn't want to just let the freon out) . They were quick and as a person that has tinkered with cars for decades, from my perspective they did a good job. In other words, they are real mechanics...don't see that too much anymore. read more

Absolutely love Bunge's. I have come to them for a few service jobs so far and they are top notch!! Super friendly, and very helpful. Their prices are beyond fair and their service is fast. They even text you the next day to ask how everything went, I've never had a mechanic do that before, I am very impressed! New owners are great! Gave me a few estimates on things I needed for my truck and were up front about what they were doing and whether I really needed the work. Their customer service was excellent! I highly recommend them for all your tire needs and brake work. The work they did was great. The amount of time was good but the pricing they gave me was phenomenal. Bunge's has turned into a S--- hole. Every time I go in for service, there are new employees. They can't seem to keep the good ones around. I took a tire in for repair and was told they could repair it, but I would need to come back the next day. They needed to take the tire off the rim and repair from the inside. The shop was too busy standing around talking so they couldn't do it right away. When I picked it up, they charged me almost $43 for putting a plug in the tire. It was not taken of the rim like I was told and was not rebalanced. They didn't even offer to put the tire on my truck. I contacted Steve about it and was told that they don't use plugs and that they patch them from the inside. When I told him that the tire had not been removed, I got a run around. I've been going there for a long time. Now I have to find another repair shop. I don't think they will last much longer with this kind of service. I'll be taking our 3 vehicles somewhere else. read more

Just called to ask if bunges replaced headlights and I'm sorry i did. After talking to the guy who answered the phone for a couple minutes he stopped to ask me why i called. Really? Told him again and couldn't get a straight answer even after i told him the car year make and model. Think u can look that up on a computer. Price range was 20 to 200 wouldn't know until he looked at the car. Again look it up. Waste of my time. I will steer clear of this place. Need better customer service and a class on how to Google things. read more

I took my car in for a headlamp replacement on Saturday. I asked for a estimate first. I was initially told by Bob Huhn, the advisor, that the labor would be over $100.00, because it took so much time to replace. I looked on line just prior and it stated $35.00. I know for fact the headlamp was easily accessible. When questioned and inspected, it was dropped to $36.00 + the bulb. I also asked to have a license plate bulb replaced and verbally given a estimate for the repair. Completed and paid for, When I got home, looking at the bill, They charged $9.54 in materials to do the job. I called to question the charge & was told by Bob that was for a grease they use for lamp replacements. That is ridicules!! When I protested the charge that I was NEVER told about, Bob said the owner would call me to straighten this out. So far, no call. My advise, Don't have anything done there. If you must, question every item first or go down to the many more automotive shops in So. Elgin. read more
