Another excellent meal at Kasa Rosa this lunchtime. All four of us had the "Pasta 81" which was delicious. Service, as ever, was perfect.

There's a fantastic atmosphere. Probably due to the relaxed bohemian nature of the place. The furnishings are all low, encouraging you to get comfortable. Just angle your tummy perfectly so you can fit a lot in - the meze's come fully loaded. It's great for a night out with a girlfriend or boyfriend, or with friends, or with family. There really is, for want of a better cliche, something for everyone. The grub is North African, traditional Moroccan substance. As well as the meze, try the boureks.

(A practice that seems to be ever increasing - I really need to go shopping.) Their menu offers up a really tempting range of delicious, and might I add, healthy Moroccan cuisine. Everything from couscous, tagines, mezzes and more. Having been poorly of late, with a dreaded winter cold, I wanted something fresh and vitamin orientated, which appears to be rather difficult when you're ordering take away. Most of the offerings in Leeds aren't the best in terms of healthful eats, but with Moorish there's a plethora of good bites to choose from. I wanted to pick so much from the list, and ended up being only marginally sensible (but still rather greedy) opting for the shawarma sandwich, olives a lamb bourek and a lemon sherbett drink. The bourek was just incredible, deliciously flaky filo pastry encasing a beautifully spiced lamb sausage, absolutely packed with feta cheese. The sandwich was equally fantastic, being stuffed with the most tender lamb pieces, potato and other delightful bits. The food came with a little houmous and chilli tub, a tub of potato, beetroot and olive salad, and a mini tub of salsa-esque yum. The olives were also, of course, delicious. This was, as predicted, vastly too much food for me in one go so I now have a happy portion saved up for tomorrow. But, another absolutely noteworthy element of the delivery was this lemon drink. I have no idea what was contained within this compostable cup of the gods, but it was utter nectar. It was refreshing, sweet and so moreish (excuse the pun) that I've been left wishing I'd ordered two. All the above, paired with the fact that every piece of the packaging my food came in is recyclable, makes this place a stand out take away option. The delivery guy was amongst the friendliest I've encountered as well, which is always a pleasure. Basically, if you want take away but don't want to have to sift between fatty burgers and calorific (often sub standard) curries you have to choose Moorish. Healthy, delicious, independent and basically awesome. I'm just going to have to get off my arse one day soon and actually go there in person.

You get this gothic vibe from the building, the blue lit sign, and if it's a foggy day, that too. Entering Distrikt is a totally different matter, and when you descend the basement stairs into the main club/bar area it's a treat of colour and intimacy. Low level lighting, that could make for a romantic evening, with some delish mediterranean food, seafood mezze to start with followed by one of the cook pot dishes, which can be a side, but I just fancied something hot and savoury. I decided on the lentil stew and chorizo, whilst my counterpart ordered the lentil and butterbean clay pot stew. Piping hot and lovely. AND! after that we caught a glimpse of the deserts, which were interesting, balsamic strawberries, licorice infused figs, their special lemon syrup doughnuts, and a couple of other inexpensive sweet treats, which are great to order one of each if there's more than two of you. In addition to this the bill didn't break the bank either, £30 for the two of us including the starter, two mains, two desserts, and three soft drinks.

It's been said many a time…read morebefore, wander along Duncan street, and you'll spot a bit of hide away signage, some tables and a door that leads you down into the depths within. By rights it should still be classed as a hidden gem, since it's off the standard track, but there's a reputation for excellence that now precedes it -and one that holds firm. For all the right reasons. Let's get to the taste of it, firstly. Tapas. Not just any tapas, but freshly made to order, with a chef whose passion for seeking out foraged foods, unique flavours and intriguing combinations continues to delight my mouth. I've seen a few items on the menu change, but there are still the stalwart choices that remain and so they should- the incredible chicken wings, beautifully breaded, and delectable with the dipping sauce. The humungous mushrooms, the perfectly cooked squid, the amazing chips. My friend took me here recently for their incredibly reasonable half-priced-tapas deal, and we ordered a mountain of food. Call me king of climbs, since we polished off the lot, and basically had everything on the menu. How about atmosphere? During the lighter hours, which make little difference in this spacious, illuminated cavern, you can find a varied range of coffee drinkers, wifi users, diners and other such folk. The staff have never failed to proffer warm welcome, and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the space -a glance at the walls reflect some of Leeds' finest local art and design. If you fancy tipples, there's a fairly fancy cocktail list to get excited over, and deals on appropriate days should you wish to save yet more pennies. The outside courtyard provides a fairy-lit yard, hidden away from the streets, tucked in behind the backs of several buildingswith miniature New York feel. (Try and catch the staff pulling down the fire escape stairs to the building, and you'll see what I mean.) Finally, what about entertainment? If you've ever fancied trying your hand at Salsa, you can join in the salsa dance classes from 7pm each Tuesday -beginners are more than welcome, and the class is very accommodating and friendly. It's easier than you'd think, and actually quite the laugh. No need for friends to accompany you either, since you all end up taking turns to dance with each other as well! But it's their DJ nights that have brought them the most renown. Effortlessly garnering some of the world's finest, their eclectic range of DJ events showcase some far ranging and serious talent- and I hope to dance until the wee hours at one of their parties soon. Music, food, and love, with just the right amount of booze thrown in. It's not just a bar, it's an emporium of awesome, that makes Leeds a much better place.

Whilst the surroundings of the arcade may have faded during the 21 years that the cafe has been in business, the honesty and wholesome quality of the food remains consistent. I have frequented Roots and Fruits on many occasions, usually on an overcast day, accompanied with a good book. It is the perfect place to lose yourself for a couple of hours, away from the frenetic speed of the city centre. Although the decor has aged slightly, this somehow adds character to the ambiance. Their rich, flavourful soups are perfect on a gloomy day. My favourite dish from the cafe is the falafel kebab, served warm with salad, raita and pitta breads, it is absolutely delicious. After eating, I often wile away the rest of the afternoon with a Darjeeling tea and a moist slice of cake. Who says procrastination has to be dull. A well-used haunt for dedicated vegetarians and fans of meat-free cooking, long may Roots and Fruits continue.

This time we came however we had to sit outside, the cafe as tables had been booked inside (the people who booked it were 25 mins late and they still kept the table) quite irritating for us but at least they give you ages if you're late! It wasn't IDEAL sitting outside, but actually turned out to be quite nice as loads of people were walking past in fancy dress (we visited on Halloween) so got some really interesting people watching in! The waiter came over and took our order (after we'd deliberated for ages) I had the mandarin jigger and others ordered hot drinks etc. Everything was bought quickly and efficiently, our waiter was so lovely when we took ages to decide our food too! I eventually decided on the nachos, complete with salsa, coconut sour cream (!!!!) and jalepenos! All of it was amazing and so tasty!! I definitely didn't expect the coconut sour cream (vegan of course) to taste so good but it was great! The vegan cheese on top was also great and generally really tasty while also feeling you were being (quite) healthy! After much more deliberation we chose the chocolate cheesecake (all vegan) with a desiccated coconut base- different but very delicious! I have to give this place 5 stars, its ethical, friendly and everything I aspire to in life- really makes you think twice about what you're eating and how you're eating it! A real eco hub for anyone interested in conserving our planet :) Goes without saying the napkins and loo roll etc is all recycled too :)

We'd just exhausted ourselves at Overworlds and Underworlds, and desperately required respite. And sustenance. Inside it's cosy - the tables and chairs are tightly knit, so perhaps not the most intimate of dining experiences. However, that is very much negated by the warm welcome from one of the ladies who works there. Within moments we were seated and offered drinks. I opted for their special coffee, tempted by the special tea, but in need of a wake up hit. It was a very good coffee, although not as 'special' as I'd hoped- I'm not sure what I imagined exactly, but it was strong and well flavoured. I can't recall the name of the dish I had, forgive my lack of Persian knowledge, but it was the minced lamb kebab and the lamb pieces on a kebab. Everything is cooked up freshly, and my friend's chicken option (which I of course tried) was seasoned and marinated beautifully. The minced lamb kebab has a very strong flavour, so bring your fresh mints, but was delicious nonetheless. I'm certain it's the source of that gorgeous aroma. The lamb fillet (?) kebab was beautiful as well, and the portions are certainly generous in the meat department- I couldn't finish my plate. You have the option of chips or rice, and I went for the fries, of which there was a veritable mound. The salad was more of a suggestion, or garnish, as opposed to a portion so if you're looking to balance the meal order a side plate. Even if you do so, I doubt it'll come to more than £20 for a drink, chips, meats aplenty and something to settle the five-a-day situation. Overall, it wasn't quite as special as Safran, based on my initial visit. Perhaps it was their Persian tea that swung it, but that's not to say this isn't a lovely little restaurant. The toilets are a little sad, but the staff and the food are certainly delightful. You'll get a hearty feed on freshly cooked delights, and all of the friendliness and warmth you could hope for in a dining experience. And was I rejuvenated and revived after a lengthy jaunt about town? Absolutely. Give them a visit!

After a short wait the food came nice and I was happily tucking in when I cut some of my chicken up and it was pink in the middle. Needless to say I lost my appetite after this, and when the waitress came over to take our plates I told her some of the chicken pieces were raw in the middle, and her response was that she could put them back on the grill. Having done food hygiene courses about food poisoning I politely said no. The waitress then said for next time she would remember that I like my chicken 'well done', and this annoyed me no end because I don't like chicken well done, I just don't like it raw! Very annoyed with this experience as I loved going here but it is sadly now off my list.

Any establishment in which the staff sport t-shirts with the phrase 'If there are no hot dogs in…read moreheaven, I'm not going' emblazoned across their backs, is bound to catch my attention. A new addition to the ever growing Corn Exchange, I knew when their official opening day was and decided to sample a Primo's gourmet hot dog for myself. The location of the cafe complements the magnitude and architectural beauty of the Corn Exchange. Situated on the middle floor at ground level, seating spills out onto the balcony area, creating a feel of being openly invited to visit. After experiencing so many poor quality and insipid versions of the hot dog, I was curious to discover what precisely gave their offerings that gourmet status. A friend and I ordered the Classic Chicago (all beef frankfurter with chopped white onions, pickles, tomato wedges, celery salt, ball park mustard and a dill pickle spear) and the Dodge City (bockwurst sausage topped with Primo's chilli, West Virginia coleslaw and Monterey Jack cheese.) What a hot dog-based revelation! The bread was delicious, unrecognisable from the soggy, doughy monstrosities that inferior outlets serve. As the sandwiches were made to order, tailoring the contents to your own individual preference was possible. The ingredients were extremely fresh, full of flavour and contributed to making the best hot dog creation I have ever tasted. The staff were charming and friendly, clearly a little apprehensive with regards to their opening, but I had arrived after giving them only 10 minutes to settle in. The constant flow of customers was proof of how the residents of Leeds have been awaiting their city centre presence. Primo's offers a full menu of substantial salads, sumptuous smoothies and delicious cakes. I can attest to the Pecan Pie being devilishly fantastic. I really enjoyed my first experience of this local business, and am looking forward to devouring my way through the entire menu. The perfect hot dog? You'd be barking if you missed out.

You should all know by now that this is the place in Leeds to grab a gourmet hotdog. My personal favourite is the Classic Chicago, only with cheese instead of the hot pickle, since I'm a spice wuss. It's just meltingly delicious and so affordable for a quick lunch. Get some extras and you'll be sorted well into tea time. The temptation of 241 on a Thursday is also an added bonus; those of us more inclined to be piggy can simply gorge two of these delicious meat lengths for the price of one, or those of us more romantic can take a date for a special treat. (Just an idea.) However, I have new information. Not only can you partake of their main fare, and the many quirky oddities on display (such as Fluff and Peanut M&Ms) but you can now also get beer. Winner! Millers, amongst other decent bottles, now stand proud in the fridge of drinkable delights and they're even starting a regular live music evening. Sound awesome? Yes it does. This, though, is not my biggest news. Banana. Latte. It's changed my life. Who knew a wee shot of that magic nectar could make what was once a tasty caffeine fuelled necessity into an elongated pleasurable moment in time? Not me, but I do now. Essentially, I don't even know how it works. Should those two combinations of taste even work? I daren't question it lest it disappear in a puff of wonder. But banana in latte is flippin' awesome. All round winzies for you all.
