I enjoyed my time at Kash's, but I also understand some of past reviewers frustrations. Having said that, though, I will absolutely use Kash again for any future CEUs I might need and I would HIGHLY recommend them. I will only speak for myself with this review and what I saw. I also think it would be helpful to touch on what I know now, compared to at the beginning of my courses, when I didn't really know what I was getting in to. I started with the CNA course offerred in Sept/Oct and also took the weekend Nov HHA course. Both had an online lecture portion and in-person Clinicals. I think it goes without saying that I was with Kash for a while and in a variety of experiences, so I think I can speak to alot of different aspects. And I will also say that I JUST completed my CNA Skills Exam yesterday and passed on the first try. Lecture: Yes, the lecture Instructor, Mr. Steven Moe, goes off on tangents during class, but he's such a sweet man. He really is there because he wants us to do well. But there are expectations with anything... showing up to class on time, no talking out of line, or students yelling. Yes, that did happen a few times on our Zooms and it was awkward. Generally speaking, if you go in with an understanding that you'll just have to jump through some hoops, then you'll be fine. You get what you want out of any experience and just find the nuggets that are medically relevant and move on. Clinicals: I had both Ms. Linda Williams (for CNA) and Ms. Mavis Stovall (for HHA) and they were both excellent Instructors. If you are willing to put in the work and be a team player, you'll do just fine. I did overhear some students complain that what we are doing is 'slave labor,' because we're working for free, but giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just haven't had experience in the medical field. As a med student, a student nurse, training to be a CNA, or HHA, anything, you name it... you HAVE to put in hours in a Clinical setting and you're not going to get paid to do that. How else will you learn? Just jump through this hoop. You CHOOSE to be there, so just make the most of it. Every minute you're there, you're learning something new that could potentially help a future patient and THAT is the most important. WHAT I WOULD'VE DONE DIFFERENTLY, NOW THAT I'M THROUGH THE COURSE (the CNA course specifically): Credentia website: Credentia.com is the website that you will schedule your Skills exam, once you have completed the course. And it also contains the resources and step by step instructions for all 22 skills that each State tests on. We were told to not go on to Credentia to look at anything related to the Skills during the Lecture portion of class. I wish I didn't listen. You can go on and create an account to get a look at the Handbook anytime. We generally discuss the skills in Lecture in the book, but, again, it's not specific to California. I could have been waaaay more efficient in my studying, had I just gone on to Credentia and looked at California's Handbook right off the bat. But playing devil's advocate, I can see why Mr. Moe would say to not look at the Handbook, because one might get overwhelmed. I have taken college level coursework for years, so I have had the time as a student to know what works for me. I'm sure some folks taking this course might not have been a student for long and might get overwhelmed if they look at the Handbook too early. But if you feel like you know yourself well enough, know what works for you and you study well and efficiently, you might benefit from this tidbit. Hartman videos you will be watching: Don't get me wrong, these videos are invaluable, because we were online and we didn't have each other, or mannequins to practice on. But, this goes back to knowing that there are State specific Skills... the Hartman videos are not specific to California and I would've liked to have known that earlier on. MOST of what the videos touch on is correct for California, but I'm weird... I would've wanted to know the specific details of what California wanted to see alot sooner than we did. Hence... why I discussed the Credentia Handbook above. Practicing the Skills themselves: You will NOT be able to practice the Skills correctly while at your Clinicals. There is simply no time for that. The CNA employee has enough to do. Get what practice in where/when you can. Just understand that you will HAVE to study outside of class, at home. Treat it like ANY other class you would take... you sit through lecture and then study at home. There seemed to be alot of unnecessary pain caused in some students, where they expected that all Skills practice would happen on the job. I just wish we had access to a mannequin, somehow, but that's just not an option and I had to be ok with that. Overall, just go with the flow. Be on time and just rise to any expectations. This is my second time going through Kash Career College. The first time around was phenomenal with great hands-on learning. Due to the instruction received, I passed my test the first time around, so thanks for that. This time, due to travel constraints, I opted for the online course. This was more challenging because we didn't get to practice skills until clinicals rather than getting to practice in person in class with a teacher there to correct you if you are doing it wrong. Having been certified before, this wasn't an issue for me as the course was really a refresher, however, I can see where some students might struggle. If you really need hands-on learning and are not very good at reading and watching videos to learn what you need, I recommend their in-person class vs. online. However, the online class is great if you are the kind of person who doesn't need that hands-on experience. I do want to mention that there were some dramatic personality conflicts between the teachers and the students, and the majority of the students in my class were disrespectful and did not want to be told what to do. They are forgetting that we are students and are in a position where we MUST be told what to do. You HAVE to follow instructions. It's literally life or death. If you aren't paying attention and give a patient the wrong food, it could kill them. If their immune system is compromised and you are not following proper infection control, you could kill them. If you aren't positioning them correctly, you can cause bed sores. It's serious. They were not taking things seriously at all. No one wanted to listen to the teacher; half the class kept turning off their cameras or showing up late. It was very frustrating as a professional and an adult to be surrounded by so many students who lacked good time management skills. I mean, I have ADHD and have major time management issues. If I can show up on time, anyone can do it. But EVERY DAY the teacher had to lecture the class about time management. I don't think they understand that in the real world, when you have a real job, if you are more than a few minutes late to your shift, you will get fired. And in this type of job, people can't leave until they give you report and pass off their patients to you, so you are not just effecting your own schedule, but the schedule of others. Very rude. It doesn't help that half the class were kids. Literally. They were mostly 17, 18, and 19, just graduated high school, never worked before. They are in for a rude awakening when they start working. The teachers were good albeit sometimes a little inappropriate (making jokes that might have been funny 20 years ago but by today's standards are highly offensive), but they were knowledgeable and very patient for what they were dealing with. And yes, some of the CNA's at the facility we were sent to weren't awesome to work with (some were downright lazy), but that is not the school's fault. And the facility was actually really good. I've seen awful places. This was not one of them. For the cost, for the time it takes to get through the program, and for the training you get, it's well worth it. In fact, I intend to continue my education through them. I recommend this program to anyone who is ready to learn and will take their job seriously. If you are a baby who doesn't want to be told what to do and you do not take your job or your life seriously, then you should probably skip this one and go through a course with more hand-holding. If you have no experience in nursing or working as a nursing assistant. Dont go to this school. The "teachers" are not very good at teaching and are easily distracted especially if it's done over zoom. Mr. Moe was our "teacher" and he is so easily distracted. Answers his phone, talks to people that are at his house and goes off subject frequently. Not to mention, he talks while there is test taking. When students are late to starting the class, he makes us all wait like we are being punished. Definitely, not like a "College". The $1600 you pay for this course is definitely a waste. They tell you the book is free and the gait belt, but it's not obviously. Plus you have to pay for the state testing. Sad that this is our future nurses, PA's, and Doctors and the youngsters coming out of this are still confused. As far as the clinical portion of this goes, just as horrible. Ms. Akeebah says she has a background in nursing, but you ask her a question and she gets upset with you. She constantly tells the class that we are rude, yet she doesn't even know your name and calls you "hey". She went on a tangent and told certain students that other students with tattoos were ghetto for having them. You don't learn anything about vital signs until towards the end of class and on the second to the last day, we learned about the gait belt (which is an infection control issue. How do you clean it in between patient use? Its cloth) Ms. Akeebah constantly talks about her personal issues to students and staff at the nursing home and disrupts our learning with the CNA's. She's constantly on her phone and even leaves to pick up Amazon at her house. Wait til you hear her cell phone go off... the ring tone is quite questionable and inappropriate. Abuse was reported to her when a student witnessed it with a CNA mistreating a resident and she told us to keep our mouth shut so we wouldn't get kicked out of skilled nursing facility. As far as the skilled nursing facility goes, it was so horrible and sad. Where do they get most of those CNA's?!?!? We witnessed so much wrong doing. Even talked to the administration about it and we got in trouble for it. WHITNEY OAKS CARE CENTER. Holy s&@$!!! This is just a sample of what we endured. If you want a good laugh, want to waste your time and money and you don't have anything to do, take this class. If it's on zoom, have your family listen in too, like most of us did. They will find it pretty sad as well. But my advice, go to a JC like American River College where it's more professional. This is our youth that is going to take care of us one day. First and foremost let me address the "reviewers" who gave the school 1 star. So let me get this straight, we're supposed to take advice from people who write and talk like that? To make matters worse they go off on the school (and Mr Kash) to follow it up with the fact that they passed their State Board Exam!? Even the "reviewer" who went OFF, spouting out random dollar figures and misspelled cuss words, even SHE listed in tips that she passed her State Boards exam. Way to give thanks. Ungrateful people disgust me. If you do your RESEARCH you will find out that Kash College is competitive in pricing and in most cases even a better value. You are given everything you need (quality instruction, learning material etc) to pass the state test AS LONG AS YOU DO YOUR PART. Do I work for Kash College? No. I did however just finish the CNA program with Miss Heather. She was absolutely wonderful. We were all stoked to have landed her as our instructor. Miss Heather is thorough, supportive, friendly, funny and tech savvy. She takes her students under her wing and her main objective is to see that you not only pass but that you are the best CNAs out there. "Do your best and let your conscience be your guide" was a policy of hers. There are many different course schedules to choose from but they will all satisfy 50 hours of theory and 100 hours of clinical work. The certificate of completion you get upon graduation is a required document to get licensed as a CNA. About Mr Kash, he is a solid and kind hearted guy, he also has a business to run. I have seen first hand some of the "personalities and characters" he has to deal with and ...better him than me. All of the finances are laid out up front and everything is very straight forward. There are no surprise or additional costs (aside from picking up your own blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and that is only if you want your own and to not borrow. I recommend buying your own $13 at Walmart). Recommend Kash College? Yes. Especially if you are serious about seeing something through from the beginning to the end. Good luck if you decide to go. I had to take HHA program with them and believe me when I say this school is a scam. Kash is very rude and once he takes your money he wants nothing to do with you! Only cares about getting paid and not actually helping students! The instructor that I had as well was rude with some of the students. Most of the time he only talked about his life and went off topic. Told us just to read basically do self study. We did online class and I get it, he had to be strict about being on time. But some situations cannot be helped like when one student had a bad wifi connection and could not turn on the camera on time. The instructor lectured us about being late for 10 minutes saying he wanted us to be on time so no one's time is wasted. In my mind, he was the one who's wasting our time with all his life stories!! And it felt like he was humiliating that student. I was actually late myself on second day of class for five minutes and he threatened us with "just one call to mr. Kash and we can get kicked out of the program!" I mean... we paid a lot for the program, and you couldn't accommodate for few minutes?? I advice, please go to other school like SACMED for CNA. That's where i went for my cna training. Management/Instructor that I had there were so much more professional and will literally help every cna to pass the exam. They went above and beyond. Her snarky demeanor was a stark contrast to Ms Heather, who I had the pleasure to make up hours with. She was incredibly kind, fair, & passionate about what she does. I completed Kash Career College's CNA course this Summer. I did the lecture and clinical in Auburn. The instructor was Heather and she was amazing. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a CNA, or as a stepping stone, I would highly recommend the Auburn option with Heather. She is caring and compassionate, she wants you to learn and succeed, and she will teach you the proper way to execute your skills. Aside from that, she's a wonderful person and I've found a friend for life. We did our clinical at Auburn Oaks which provided a great setting and staff. It was clean and ran smoothly. My only recommendation is to practice your skills using Red Cross videos during your lecture and clinical because it's difficult to follow the strict protocol that the exam requires when in a real life environment. read more

I am so disappointed with my experience at Kash Career College. I passed the state exam because I worked my butt off to do so, not because I was properly trained. I surely would not recommend this school to anyone. Instructors and staff (especially Mrs. Akeebah) have been very rude, intimidating, unprofessional, inappropriate and consistently disrespectful. There's a big difference between being direct and strict and downright hateful and mean. The facility is also outdated and unclean which is another deterrent and distraction for students attempting to enhance their skill sets. The following inappropriate behaviors I, as well as multiple classmates, have witness while attending school at Kash Career College: 1. Students were publically humiliated in the presence of their peers and staff 2. Incorrect information was delivered to students and not corrected in timely manner 3. Lies were being communicated to students as well as defamation of their character 4. Teacher to student bullying took place on multiple occasions in the presence of witnesses 5. Students were treated unfairly and made fun of based on their culture or race 6. The website does not offer accurate information and is very misleading 7. No graduation or promotion ceremony offered; furthermore, students were threatened that if they, in fact, brought a family member there would be consequences. This is a great accomplishment and the support or friends and families should be welcomed. 8. Mr. Kash was not forthcoming about additional expenses and is only interested in getting paid. I am not the only student who feels this way. I have taking the time to interview and discuss this with my fellow classmates about their experiences. It was disheartening to learn that their experiences were very similar of not exactly the same as mine. One thing positive I will add is that the program has potential and there's room for improvement; ALOT of room. An orientation would be nice along with sufficient staff so that the whole program isn't run by one person. The school should hire teachers who 'like' to teach and 'want' to train. The owner is an arrogant prick. He didn't fill out forms correctly, so the state board sent them back, but he claims to never have gotten them back and that he didn't do anything wrong. He refuses to help with the situation. He even had the nerve to call me stupid and tell me that I can call whoever I want even Obama, and no one will be able to help me. Then he hung up on me. I suggest you take your money to another school. The only good thing about this school is Mrs Heather. She is an awesome teacher. I only had her for my makeups for clinical, but without her and hard work, I wouldn't have passed my state test. Originally I had Ms Akeebah. All she did was talk about her family, and if any of us asked a question relevant to school, she would say there's no time for discussions. But then start right back talking about her family. First things first...... I passed my CNA certification exam ^_^ I had Ms. Djoana for an instructor and she was great. She is really knowledgeable and walks you through the most important parts of the material. She can be very strict, but will always try to protect her students. I highly recommend her as an instructor. She will not hesitate to throw on gloves and show you exactly how to perform a skill if you're having trouble. She really went above and beyond for our class and gave us her personal number in case we had any questions after completing our training. I don't know of many teachers who would be willing to sacrifice their personal time off the clock. In regards to some of the negative reviews on here and if you're having doubts about the course, give Mr. Kash a call and come voice your concerns like I did. I completed my CNA class in Auburn. I live in Roseville/Rocklin... Sacramento location is closer to me but i wanted to beat the traffic so i attended the Auburn location. I am so glad i did that because i had the best instructor Ms.Heather . She genuinely cares about you and she takes her time to help everyone and makes sure you really learn. It was an absolute privilege to have her as a teacher and i am very grateful for her. I was very nervous about doing the clinic hours. I wanted to inquire about the Hemodialysis program so I decided to give them a call and as soon as I said hemodiaylsis, I was rudely interrupted and asked to call back at the end of the month. I went to Sacramento location and the teacher I had does not properly prepare you for your clinic portion of state exam. We spent all of class listening to his stories and were told to read the book and take some multiple choice tests on each chapter - those were helpful for the written part of the exam - I will give him that but not the skills part. We never went over brushing teeth dentures, we did transfer one time. We should have learned the intro and closing for skills... we were hardly in a lab and didn't practice on a dummy. We were shown how to do things incorrectly. We had few opportunities to do bed making and just essential things needed. Also we were not told what the 25 skills were that we would be tested on at Red Cross. I gathered that information on my own. Clinical portion of program was very unorganized. I cannot speak for every teacher or every location with Kash Career.... but from my experience I would say go with another school. read more

I give this place 5 stars. I was doubtful that I could learn everything I needed to know to be a CNA in 25 days, but let me tell you, I learned everything I needed to know and more. Mrs. Heather is the most amazing teacher. She took the time out to help me learn and grow as a CNA. I don't think any other place could have done it better. You won't find a teacher that is more caring and has more heart and passion than Mrs. Heather. I'm so lucky to have been able to work with her. She doesn't just teach you the basics, she teaches you everything. If you wanna become a CNA, I'm telling you, this is the place to go. In fact, I don't think Kash is continuing with the MA program due to his lack of resources. Mr. kash should stick with the CNA program which is what kash career college was originally intended for. I attended Kash Career College and it was an excellent experience. The tuition fee is very low, the instructors were nice and knew their material, the atmosphere was superb, and Mr. Kash is a true professional. At Kash Career College, the instructors like Ms. Djoanna, Ms. Heather, Ms. Akeebah, and Ms. Grace, have so many years of experience in the nursing field. I paid only $995, and I got a free text book, free set of uniform, free gait belt, and a free name badge. The main campus at 2344 Arden Way, Sacramento, makes you feel relaxed. No other CNA campus is like this. Please, do not take my word for it, go and see for yourself. If you ask me, I think that the $995 I paid for the training was a steal. The college should charge more than $995. There are no hidden fees at Kash Career College. My friends who attended other schools found out that there were hidden fees at these other schools. Do not be deceived by these other schools. When my class went for its clinical training, the whole class was shocked when we found out that half of the working CNAs were trained at Kash Career College. Even before the clinical training ended, most of us were told by the nursing home administrator to apply for jobs at the nursing home because of the training we received. I am happy to say that five of us from my class are presently working as CNAs at this particular nursing home after we passed the state board examination. I do not know why a few disgruntled, bad, spoilt, and rotten students are saying bad things about the school. I think that they came to a school where they were not handed everything on a silver plate and therefore are angry at THEMSELVES. Kash Career College makes you work hard because as a CNA you are required to work hard. Please, do not believe what these bad students are writing; go to Kash Career College and see things for yourself. Kash Career College has many schedules to choose from and I know that one of these schedules will work for you. In my mind, Kash Career College is an excellent school. I had great experience at Kash College. I was very glad to have Ms. Heather as my instructor; she was very thorough, experienced, and knowledgeable. The staffs here in general were friendly and helpful. We had quizzes almost every theory day and they were helpful to prepare us for the State Board Exam written test. Clinical work was very hands-on; however, you have to keep on reading the book and practicing the skills on your own as much as possible before the State Exam to be well prepared. I am rating Kash Career 5 stars primarily because of the teachers I had but I will address what I didn't like about the school itself. I had Ms. Akeebah in theory and Ms. Djoana as my clinical instructor. Ms. Akeebah is very straightforward and strict. She lectures straight from the book and tells us what to expect on the quizzes. She gave us many heads-up on what to expect once we go in our hands-on training. Quizzes and exams are easy as long as students are willing to do their part. My clinical instructor Ms. Djoana is AWESOME! I can't emphasize that enough! she's approachable, friendly, patient, VERY intelligent, soft spoken, fair, helpful and thorough. Although there was so many of us, she always did her best to come to whoever needs help. She takes her time to show her students the proper ways to take care of the residents and SHE MAKES SURE that her students completely understand the skill. She is NOT strict at all! But she goes by the rules and encourages her students to follow those rules. She doesn't like it, but if ever she sends a student home, it's not her fault. She gave us her personal celphone number so we can still contact her after graduation for further questions and help. This is what makes her even more awesome, she's willing to stay in contact with her students and arrange a meeting outside of school if ever one of her students feels like they need more preparations for the CNA licensing exam. She's one of those rare teachers who would do everything they can to help their students. 4 stars for the school itself and here's why.. Tuition is reasonable and sometimes better than other CNA schools you will find. What I didn't like about the school is, it does not have enough staff to contact. Whenever I would go to Mr. Kash's office, I understand that he's busy and very hard working, but he does like 4 different jobs [cleaning, keeping track of the money, takes care of registers, organizing clinical schedules etc..] so, every time I go to his office, he barely has the time to talk, if you catch him on his free time, you better get to it or you will wait for next time. Also, some of the equipments we needed for practice are either not provided, outdated or broken. As a result, students who are serious about this career needed to go somewhere else to practice. So, for future students, I suggest that once you go to the clinical, take it seriously and learn every skill you can because you will have the equipments you need and a resident to practice on. You're not going to be the only student who will need help on something so do your best. All in all, I had a great experience and a lot of fun working with my classmates and Ms. Djoana. My teachers are both assets to this school! For future students, a little tip to success~ be patient, be ready to learn, and have an open mind :) read more

To start off I'd like to say "thank you Ms. Heather for being the best instructor I've ever had"!! I normally don't write reviews good or bad but Kash Career College deserves an A+ review. As an 47 year old who's been in the professional world and starting a new career path I researched every CNA program thoroughly by visiting and reading reviews. I live between the Arden & Auburn locations but after reading the reviews about Ms. Heather I chose Auburn. I am SOOOO happy I chose the Auburn location. The extra drive was well worth it. I know I am more than prepared to take my state test. I'd not only recommend Kash to anyone seeking their CNA certificate but I'd send my own daughter to the Auburn location. The only negative thing I have to say is the Kash website needs to be updated as it doesn't represent what an amazing school it is. Ps....I'll miss Ms. Heather and my classmates. I have been meaning to write this for a couple of years, since I told Mr. Kash I would. I went to school here to get my CNA liscense 2 years ago so I could have experience while waiting on getting accepted into a nursing school. My teacher there was an RN who worked in a nursing home for many years, even as a director I believe, so she really knew her stuff. (Sorry I forgot their names already... ADHD ;).The teacher who helped us during our clinical in the nursing home was also an RN. She was a very helpful and kind lady. Anytime you had a question, she was eager to answer. The course flies by fairly quickly. In under 2 months you can finish the course and go on to take the exam. Mr. Kash was also always very helpful whenever I had a question. Working in a nursing home is quite a humbling experience...I hope that all future CNA's can treat their patients with the kindness and respect they deserve. I suggest taking the time to study hard before the exam. Watch YouTube videos, study with a classmate... rewrite your notes! You can do it :) read more

I was part of the Auburn class and it was a great privelage to have Heather Hobsin as my instructor she is an amazing instructor and great personality that makes those long hours in school great and prepared you very well before graduating. This guy's a money hungry scam artist. He will fill out your paperwork for you to try to use against you when he kicks you out of his program and steals your money. The lack of training or the lack of equipment you need to practice to pass your state exam is pitiful, I could of trained you out of my apartment with no equipment. I now have to take him to small claims court to get over $400 back. Please don't go to this school unless you absolutely have to and don't really care about learning the skills you will need to work this job. read more
