Good pictures start from being at ease and Carrie will definitely put you at ease. Even from the first consultation, she makes you feel like you are the only client and the only one that matters. Her pictures are amazing and every now and then she'll say "Let me try something" - those will be the best pictures. One thing I was not expecting was for her to help me draw up a timeline for the day. I didn't have a wedding planner and kind of cobbled it all together myself. Carrie, based on all her experience, advised me on getting hair and makeup done earlier (she was right), having the flowers delivered earlier (she was right again - especially since the delivery was running late), and leaving earlier to get to the church. As she said, no bride has ever complained about being too early. I wasn't too early at any stage and her timeline actually prevented me from being late and stressed out. The second photographer she came with (Dan) was just as great. After meeting him for the first time on the day of the wedding, I was instantly at ease with him in under 5 mins. Communication was easy whether it was through email that included a bunch of questions or a simple text message asking for feedback or an opinion. As soon as we solidified that we would be using Kat's services I was able to share my pinterest board with her and she continued to check in on what ideas I continued to pin. On the day of our wedding she pulled out a binder full of all the photos I had pinned. I loved that she was always on top of it! I booked Kat with two other photographers for around 8 hours of service. Within my package it also included an extra mini photo shoot. I asked Kat to do a secret boudoir shoot with me and although not part of her normal requests she accepted with ease! She made me feel so comfortable during that shoot and created a small album I was able to gift to my husband on the morning of our wedding! It was incredibly special and made me feel confident and sexy to gift to my husband! On the day of the wedding, all three photographers showed up on time and began shooting in the hotel rooms, capturing the little details of my jewelry and personalized champagne flutes. They captured candid moments between my bridesmaids and I and especially with my mom. My mom is such a strong woman and when she gets emotional it is usually a big deal. Kat and her team did not miss a beat and captured those moments for me to look back on! Throughout the day of our wedding, Kat's team was with us every step making each moment continuously special. They froze on the rocks at Lighthouse Point Beach so my husband and I could capture a unique first look experience. We all may have been cold, but I will NEVER forget the memories of all of us laughing together pushing through the chills (and tears!). During some group shots on the carousel they laughed with us during an injury that happened to one of the horses feet! Complete accident, but made for a story to tell in the long run. The ceremony was captured in just the way I asked including accommodating the hard shot of being behind my mom, step father and I to get the shot before we walked out. The reception photos were endless of our guests and my husband and I interacting with family and friends. They captured such FUN memories and even a romantic moment of my husband and I embraced in the love of the day slow dancing with everyone else on the dance floor. Not to mention there may have been a lift or two throughout some of the song choices! By the end of the night I asked what Kat and her team what they were still doing there and they said they were having so much fun! It truly made my night! To this day, Kat still answers my texts and will send any requests I may have whether it's a photo turned from black and white back to color or just simply a quick edit. We met with Jocelyn Voo over Zoom before moving forward with working with her for our special day as our photographer and our witness. Jocelyn was absolutely outstanding for more reasons than one. Firstly, we felt that she really "GOT" us, from start to finish. She listened to our vision (dark, moody, candid, casual, gritty) and as wild as some of our ideas were, she totally leaned in and delivered exactly what we were looking for! Secondly, when you're eloping just the two of you, having a third person present is intimidating; what if it's awkward? What if the vibes are weird? But Jocelyn was an absolute joy to spend time with! I'd go so far as to say that her presence made the day even more special. She asked us about our love story, she joked around with us, and seemed genuinely interested in who we were as people. This also impacted the photos, as you can see how comfortable we are and how much fun we're having. Third, Jocelyn is an expert at her craft, although not pretentiously so. Her website offers so much guidance on how the elopement process works. Her emails with us gave us contacts for who to reach out to for certain steps (We took pictures in the lobby of the Beekman and had to have permission granted; something we certainly wouldn't have known!) Not only did we consider Jocelyn our photographer, but our guide in the process of eloping. She also is an expert in that her photo-taking does not appear obvious! I was worried about having professional pictures taken of me in public, but onlookers barely noticed as Jocelyn very naturally pulled her camera out and snapped pictures. If you are eloping in NYC, there is simply no contest; Jocelyn at Everly Studios is your photographer. Used them for our wedding in 2007. their work is REALLY nice. At the time they were one of few…read more(though they claimed the only - which we later found out was not true) that did flush mount albums. My issues came later when prior to my wedding I wanted to provide him with a list of portraits I wanted to be sure to capture he told me he didn't do that to have someone at the wedding handle that. There were also some detail shots I would have wanted that were never taken - again because he wouldn't take the list. Now I realize this all sounds very bridezilla like but there were certain individuals I wanted to be certain got included in portraits - my 90 year old aunt that has since passed away, my 15 year old cousin who was a bridesmaid and wasn't in the bridal party shots because there wasn't anyone really keeping track of who needed to stay and go. The detail shots I would have sucked up...but the people, that's a true loss to me. Additionally we had been told they could do some airbrushing and had for our engagement sessions (airbrushed out a manufacturing plant in the background) when asked if they could do the same for a couple of portraits they told us they couldn't without up charging. In the end the album is beautiful and still gets rave compliments but the customer service side wasn't where I'd have liked it to be. If you're okay with letting them handle everything, then you will be thrilled with their work, but if you want input - I'd ask some very pointed questions before hiring to make sure you feel comfortable.
