Yes, you read that right...a personalized, hand written thank you note! To be honest, this lovely boutique historic hotel is far from fancy but what it lacks in glamour is made up in spades by the friendliness of all the employees. These folks will go out of their way to try to accommodate you. They are obviously working their tails off to make a nice hotel, one which will undoubtedly provide every comfort. The room that I stayed in and the others I saw still have quite a way to go in terms of style and comfort but I am confident that they are doing their absolute best to improve every bit. Each member of the staff is putting in crazy hours and energy! I was truly overwhelmed by a couple of things; The chef was the only one there when we checked in and he handled it all. I later learned that in addition to manning the ship when needed at the hotel he does several other jobs outside the hotel. His cooking is amazing! The manager also works mad hours with so much responsibility. A friend/all around handy man of the hotel hung out with us a bit on the patio and we learned that he does a tremendous amount to help there in addition to his other jobs. They were all just super friendly! I can't wait to see what's in store on a return visit.

We knew we were going to love this place when a neighbor came out to distract his pit bull as we walked by. And when we stepped in to head the bartender explaining to a couple of other customers how terrified she is of clowns, we somehow knew we were going to have more fun here than we'd had all day. It turned out that bartender's name was Becky, and she's 1/2 of the couple who owns the bar. The other half is her husband, Waylan, who showed up later at the end of our visit. "Having a name like Waylan is like having the biggest cock," she said. Or maybe it was B who said that, I don't remember and my notes aren't very clear. :) There is quite a collection of bras on the bar, a recent development. "A while back one of the customers just up and took her bra off, and said she wanted to hang it up. So we did. Then other ladies started doing it," Becky explained. "Now boxer shorts have even started to join the collection." We ended up spending out entire visit chatting with the bartender about their history with the bar. We really enjoyed our time here. In addition to the great personalities, this is a fun-looking bar all around and I'de love to visit again when it's busier. In fact, here's how good a time we had -- when we first arrived we noticed the Silver Strike machine and put a few dollars in it to play. But we never got around to actually doing so! :)

This is a very dark social clique that if you aren't wearing all black, have at minimum 12 tattoos and 6 piercings you might stick out. Non the less we made our way to the bar after talking our way out of a $20 cover charge for a no name performer. Under the guise of we were only going to have one beer and use the bathroom. I have to admit atmosphere was respectful and bartender seemed amused we were brave enough to even be there. We had our beers, a few laughs with the bartender listened to some local talent opener dj's and then on our way. In my day this group were known as goth, today it's Emo. Bottom line we're all people and with a little mutual respect and humor, it's all good. Enjoy. Humanity shouldn't need a disclaimer, just be a good person. Cheers.

Really, it's $15 for each one. The taste was average. I also did not like how one of the waiters came up to us and said something along the lines of "by the way we are closing in 20 minutes." The cozy, warm ambiance of the place makes it feel like the ideal place to unwind. I started with a wine flight that included a white, Moscato, and a sweet red. While they were a bit on the dry side for my super-sweet wine preferences, they were still enjoyable. The mulled cider, however, was the real star--absolutely delicious! We also ordered some snacks to share: a pepperoni flatbread and a charcuterie board. They arrived fresh and fast, and the server took the time to explain each item on the board, making the experience even more enjoyable. Everything was top-notch and super tasty. What really stood out was the friendly, knowledgeable staff, who made sure we had everything we needed. There's also a big patio that's perfect for summer months, offering a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with a glass of your favorite drink. Plates and water were readily available for self-service, which was a nice touch. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area--such a great spot with the perfect combination of warmth, good food, and great drinks!
