Katherine was absolutely wonderful from our first meeting with her, all the way through us receiving our wedding photos. We booked Katherine for our engagement and our wedding photos. Our engagement photos turned out great! Katherine was very flexible on when and where to do them. We decided to have some taken at our home, and some in the park by the 360 bridge. She took so many photos, we had plenty to choose from, and they were just beautiful. On our wedding day, Katherine and her husband, Jeff, showed up early, and immediately started taking photos. And they were there all the way though the end of the night, with our sparkler send off. She finished processing the photos very quickly (less than 3 weeks) after our wedding. My goodness. What a wonderful lady! Katherine has been a delight since our first meeting. We met with several photographers, and many of them made me uncomfortable. They seemed pushy, or demanding. I was concerned that my guests would feel bossed around and that these photographers would suck the fun out of the party. But Katherine and her husband were wonderful! We met with her in her sweet studio, and she let us peruse all of her recent work (which you should also check out at her website and blog) and album options. Her prices are so reasonable and she is an artist. Most importantly, though she is a pleasure to be around and will enhance your wedding. We LOVE the hundreds of gorgeous images (digital: Color, B&W, Toy camera) and it was so hard to narrow it down to an album. Many of my more discriminating friends have told me that our wedding photos are the best made wedding photos they've ever seen. Check her out. She's an artist. Yelp really came through for me when I found Katherine!!! In a bit of desperation (less than 3 months till the wedding date) - I was looking through photography reviews on yelp. When I came across Jane A's review for Katherine, I immediately checked out Katherine's web site. OMG I fell in love with her photos. I was also really glad to see that she had shot weddings previously at my location (Chapel Dulcinea) and that she was local to the area (she's based in downtown Buda). I crossed my fingers and sent an email hoping that she might have our date - Sunday after Thanksgiving free for a very small/short wedding ceremony. I held my breath until her reply and was ecstatic when she indicated she would be available and had a special rate for Sundays and smaller weddings. Her photojournalism style really captured exactly what we wanted to see in pictures from our special day. She was extremely efficient and incredibly professional...and she quickly captured our personalities and really made that come through in the photos. All that with like zero effort on our part! Katherine and her husband are wonderful photographers, but are also wonderful people. We enjoyed our experience working with them from beginning to end. Katherine met us for an engagement session and took the most creative and special photos of my sweetie and I. These photos will be treasured forever. We had our engagement photos displayed at our wedding and guests are still asking us about who the photographer was. She not only captured beautiful moments between us, but has the talented eye to see the light and use it to her advantage to make the photos even more memorable. I could see this in her online portfolio - which is one reason why we selected her. She has a way to capture the love between two people. During the wedding, she and Jeff were so patient and relaxed and fit right in with our guests. Many people didn't realize that photographers were even present. They were unobtrusive and so polite and friendly. The resulting photos were extremely comprehensive and her and her husband were everywhere - capturing all the precious moments and not letting a single one go buy unsaved in one of their cameras for us to enjoy again and again. Katherine has this business down. She has a beautiful gallery site that makes it easy to download photos, select gifts, and order prints. When we selected our album, it arrived on our doorstep the very next day wrapped in a sweet brown bow. We are super impressed with her attention to artistry while keeping our experience number one. We gave gifts of our engagement photos to our parents in a cute accordion book that Katherine offered. This was the best gift we could have possibly given and was so appreciated by the families who received them. My wife and I got married in May 2012. We were SUPER planners--everything was perfect...until one day at the end of April, it was discovered that our original photographer had lost our deposit check, and had since double-booked our wedding date! So here we are, about 2.5 weeks out from our wedding day, in the middle of high wedding season, with NO photographer. So while I panicked, my wife calmly did a Google search and a little Yelping, and found Katherine O'Brien and her husband. I am an artsy-type, so I still had to give any potential photographers my artistic seal of approval--but after a quick look at Katherine's online portfolio, I was even more excited about her than our photographer that bailed on us! We called Katherine immediately--and fortunately, they had an opening (lucky for us, our wedding was on a Sunday). Katherine invited us out to meet with her at her house, and we knew right away that this was going to work out. Katherine and her husband are WONDERFULLY laid-back people, and extremely professional. This is a perfect combination, because on your wedding day, you NEED to be surrounded by laid-back people who are going to perform their job at the highest level. Let me emphasize their laid-back, flexible nature again--I was high-strung on that day, to put it mildly, and they did a tremendous job of making sure that everything was taken care of on their end. My wife and I paid for our own wedding--so price was a factor, too; and Katherine was more than fair in her price. She is a good recommendation for couples that are budget-conscious! We actually got married not too far from their office in Buda; and after we had done our typical wedding party photos on-site before the wedding, they offered to take us in to downtown Buda for a little "glamour shot" photo shoot...just my wife and I. Katherine and her husband actually drove us from the wedding site to Buda themselves, and then did a fantastic job organizing beautiful artistic and rustic photos of us around town. Then they drove us back for the wedding! During the wedding they were unobtrusive, and during the reception they were great. Katherine was very gracious when I asked her a couple times to make sure that certain things were captured (as if I even needed to ask). If you like photos that have a more "vintage" look to them (I do), Katherine has a couple antique toy cameras that she will take a few rolls of film with--those ended up being some of the nicest shots from the whole day! I am particularly fond of these, and I do not recall any other photographers that we looked at offering something like this. Katherine O'Brien is FANTASTIC! My wife and I are so grateful that she helped us out of a rather dire situation, and we are so glad that we found someone so thoughtful and artistic (and affordable)! read more

Having worked with many photographers (wedding, fashion, music) and studied photography, I was ecstatic when I discovered Katherine O'Brien's photography. Her work is amazingly beautiful and she's a remarkable talent. Katherine's contract was a bit confusing for us and sometimes I felt like she could have been clearer in her emails, but Katherine and her husband killed it! Our photos are simply fantastic. When I got engaged I knew the thing that was most important to me was going to be photography. I had a good idea of what I wanted, and what I wanted was Katherine O'Brien. Katherine had shot a lot of my friends' weddings and she was at the very top of my wedding wish list. Once we started working with Katherine I knew she'd be worth every penny (and her prices are super competitive and an awesome deal). We did an engagement session with Katherine and loved the pictures. She was super helpful and easy to work with up until our wedding and on the day of, she and her husband were fantastic! Katherine and Jeff went out of their way to make sure our photos went off without a hitch. The end results were beautiful and much more than we could have expected. Because we just couldn't get enough, we also ended up doing an after session that was nearly as fun as the wedding. Aside from being a wildly talented photographer, Katherine is super sweet and easy to work with. She makes you feel comfortable and you know you're going to look great in her capable hands. One of the things that's most important about Katherine is that you can tell she really cares... about the photos and about the bride/groom's happiness. What an amazing pair. Chris and I were planning our Austin wedding from VA so I found Katherine O'Brien Photography online, of all the photographers I reached out to, they were the most kind and responsive. They really listen and understand what you want and they are like photography ninjas on the wedding day. They work so fast and efficiently. We were running WAY behind on the photo start times (because us girls took to long getting ready of course) and without me having to stress about how we were going to make up the time, they already had it figured out and worked very efficiently with us to get all the shots we wanted. I chose Katherine O'Brien Photography as my wedding photographer, based on a referral from a friend and I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience, from engagement photos, bridals to the big day. Despite how awkward it truly is to take engagement photos, Katherine made my then-fiancé and I feel very comfortable throughout the entire evening. I imagined staying in one spot for the photos, but Katherine moved us around the entire time, really exploring the area and having a sense for what would made a beautiful shot, which resulted in a wide diversity of shots with remarkable backdrops. Bridal portraits with Katherine went exceedingly smooth. My venue was new, so she had come early and scouted spots out before I had arrived. Due to some work on the new venue, we were limited on where we could shoot, but she dreamed up some unique, out-of-the box shots that turned into some of my favorites of the day. I couldn't tell you how relieved I was to walk off the bus when I arrived at our venue on our wedding day and found Katherine there already shooting. She always arrived early and didn't miss a thing. She had a partner so she was able to be with us in the bridal suite the entire time before the ceremony and capture our special moments, big or small. During the chaos of wrangling all family members for photos, they remained calm and professional. My favorite moment was when she pulled my husband and I aside during the craziness of the reception to capture some breathtaking twilight shots, which I am so appreciative of. I could go on forever on Katherine's professionalism and gift for finding the perfect moments, but that doesn't compare to how thankful I am to have had some of the most beautiful photos I've seen, capturing the best day of my life. We hired Katherine due to a colleague's recommendation and were very disappointed. Our families faces were blacked out because the lighting was so bad, and there are no bridal shots or photos of just the groom, which we specifically asked for. Her response to our disappointment was accusation, simply unprofessional. As a result we have no pictures of our family or each other on our wedding day. read more

My husband and I probably spent the most time on making our photography decision. We went through tons and tons of websites and then found Katherine's. We were blown away by the uniqueness of her photos and how she plays with the light and different points of view to make such stunning pictures.
