I just completed a very extensive and complex medically necessary series of procedures with Dr. Quist. Over the course of seven appointments, she replaces several crowns and an implant, plus built sets of upper and lower veneers. Due to decades of teeth grinding, I was in danger of losing my lower front teeth and her meticulous work means my teeth are good to go! Not only did she save me much physical and financial hardship down the road, as an added bonus, my teeth look fantastic! I can't believe these even, straight and natural looking teeth are mine. I also appreciated how Dr. Quist She showed a genuine interest in finding the best solution for a very complicated situation. She worked hand in hand with a team of outside partners, including orthodontists and a lab, to make sure the outcome was perfect. Finally, and I never thought I would write this sentence, I enjoyed my time in her chair! Dr. Quist's positivity and kindness radiated not only to me the patient, but to her very capable dental assistants. As a result I fully trusted her. Her type of care was less than perfect. She assumed that I had money to go to an orthodontist after her care and I did not. My life circumstance is imperfect and she could not understand me telling her that I can't afford to pay an orthodontist. I told her to complete my bridge in such a way that I could close my mouth and instead of listening to me she chose to go with her obsessive compulsion for symmetry in my unsymmetrical mouth and my bite has been horrific ever since. If your life is imperfect because you cannot manage the facade that wealth affords the members of the dominant culture, don't go to this woman. She will not hear you, she will not see you. She will screw up you life because she would rather live the shallow smiling righteousness that the dominant culture paints over race and unearned disadvantage. Her staff is predominantly people of color. Big whoop. Lady, it's not enough to be a 'good person'. Learn something. read more

Five stars - Because Dr. Quist is a compassionate perfectionist who loves her profession and treats everyone with respect. She's attentive and honest. Her recommendations are sensible and she tells you what needs doing first and why. I trust her judgement implicitly. She knows I'm afraid of pain - I like to be numb as possible, and she administers shots skillfully, with minimal pain. She doesn't waste words, but you know she's paying attention. She's informative and a great listener. Her assistant - the attentive and knowledgeable Celia - provided intelligence, honesty, patient and professional care throughout what came to be an extended session. I switched to Quist after many years with a dentist I really liked, it was a big decision. I am SO GLAD I switched. A million times more gentle, kind and OMG, so so much better. I spent so long being afraid to get anything done and the former dentist went along with it, very hands off, not proactive. Feeling caught up, not scared and much much better. You gotta take care of your teeth, and Quist is the sweetest. What a lovely gentle dentist and OH! The office is immaculate, the precautions they are taking for COVID should be a model for all public schools, I seriously feel safer in that office than any other public place since the Corona hit. read more

Dr Quist is the best dentist in the Bay Area! She is our family dentist. She has always been professional and given high quality dental care. She is very gentle and dispels the myth of the painful dentist. In the contrary, she is the most gentle dentist I have ever visited. I've been a patient of this physical dental office since 1967. During those 50 years I've had 5 +/- different dentists, all fabulous. I've been seeing Dr Quist now for at least 15 years (maybe 20 by now? Time flies when you love your dentist!). I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers that she is the BEST DENTIST in the Bay Area & I don't care to waste any time challenging that theory. She is a consummate PERFECTIONIST. Her goal is PREVENTION, & I've got all my teeth at a time in (MID)life when many friends & family have lost many, or wear full/partial dentures. Dr Quist helped me save my 4 bottom front teeth by referring me out to a fabulous Periodontist (Gum doc,) for a rather ominous sounding "gum graft," though it was truly a piece of cake (& not the kind you have to brush immediately after). Dr Quist installed a splint at that same time, (like a permanent retainer cemented behind the teeth) as part of the tooth salvation mission mentioned above. "Hallelujah!" In recent years, thanks to grinding & gritting my teeth, she's CRAFTED 3 beautiful crowns, all of which have been COMFORTABLE since the 1st day, no repeat visits to tend to oversights, etc. I have FRIENDS (some of the same as mentioned above,) who have needed to return to OTHER DENTISTS more than once for crowns, etc, that have COME OUT prematurely, or despite "assuming the position" ("Open wide...") multiple times, have still never felt quite right. There are SO MANY POSITIVE THINGS to say about Dr Quist & her AWESOME staff of hygienists, assistants, X-ray techs & STELLAR front office staff. As a Customer Service veteran, I can tell you, they work hard as a team & all make a VERY challenging job look effortless. Fortunately (knock wood!) I've yet to have a "dental emergency" but I've come in after they've treated someone on an urgent basis & the vibe is still cool & collected. Pretty great. To me a Dentist is one of the top 4 professionals in life who, once you find a great one, you never leave (the other 3 being doctor, mechanic/auto-body shop & hairdresser - not necessarily in at order!). I cannot imagine anyone having anything but a 5-star experience there, unless maybe your first criteria is "price," which is the wrong way to search for a dentist - BELIEVE ME. My wife and I have been going to Dr. Quist for several years. We both think she is great, our favorite dentist ever. She is very welcoming and encouraging and has always made us both feel completely at ease. She is super competent, a dentist who is openly excited by what she does even after many years of dentistry, staying up to date on the latest in the field. She is wonderful at explaining what needs to be done and why. My biggest concern is that Dr. Quist is nearing the age when some folks decide to retire - Dr. Quist what can we do to ensure you continue working for as long as possible? My favorite thing about Dr. Q is her unapologetic obsessiveness. This is exactly the personality type you want for a dentist. She wants to get everything just right and will keep you in that chair until she's done so. That is A-OK with me because she is invested in a flawless outcome. Really kind and soothing as well. She does a VERY good job of making the anesthetic injections comfortable - I'm not kidding! You barely feel the injection because she puts a topical numbing solution on first. Worst dental experiences I ever had. Every filling and crown she put in my mouth had to be redone by someone else. She messed up one filling and offered to redo it for free. While I was in her chair with my mouth full of her hand and drill she told me that in fact, their was to much damage and that I would need to pay her to redo the work. How could I argue with my tooth already drilled open? She redid the work and I paid her. Later, another dentist had to redo that work too. Finally, on my last visit to her office, she was resting her drill on my lips. Is she that tired? That is when I said enough is enough and I finally left for another dentist who was horrified at her work (this opinion was later seconded by another dentist I saw while traveling and one of Quist's fillings turned to dust in my mouth and had to be redone on an emergency basis.
