Delightful! Did you ever think someone would use the term delightful to describe a dentist? I went to Dr. Boeck for the first time today. I couldn't wait to get home and write my experience down. Though I still have to get a crown and filling, I am pleased that I kept my appointment and switched my dentist. I was referred to Dr. Boeck by a patient of his and a dear friend of mine. His warm and inviting office was timely and took me within minutes of my scheduled time (doubt I waited 5 minutes from the time I arrived and was taken back to the exam room. The lovely light and pleasant environment from his manner to his choice of music (I'm a jazz lover so I love gentle jazz (e.g. not smooth jazz....more the traditional jazz appropriate songs for an environment like a dentist's office. I actually was happy HAPPY going to the dentist. Yes, even I'm blown away. Just reading all of the 5-STAR reviews are telling the real deal...and Charlene and the rest of his team are AWESOME. Let me tell you why Dr. Boeck is my family's favorite dentist: I've never been kept waiting for more than 5 minutes. Parking is free and easy. The setting is comfortable and calm, dim lighting, everything spotless. Instead of stressful television blasting on screens, there's a loop of modern art to look at. Charlene, the office manager, is exceptionally good at her job. Everyone is competent and friendly and takes their time. Boeck is one of those old-school dentist-craftsmen who never tries to upsell me on stuff I don't need and did a beautiful crown for me when I broke a tooth. A "dentist with a European touch" for sure! :-) Nobody really likes to go to the dentist, but Dr. Boeck makes it easy to make yourself schedule your twice yearly teeth cleaning and exam. He's friendly, thorough and always up for a joke. And he is not one of those dentists who want to up-sell their expensive sh*. He does what needs to be done. That's it. And he does it with minimal discomfort for his patients and in a very stylish and calm ambience. I am sure, half of the German expat population of the East Bay goes to see him and they know why! I don't write reviews often but feel compelled to in this case. My family of four went to the same beloved dentist for almost 15 years. We had to switch because of issues with insurance which was hard as we really loved their practice and the people. We felt fortunate to get referred to Dr. Boeck's office and that they were able to take the four of us at the time we needed. But far more than that, I want to express my gratitude for who they are as a team and how they work. Charlene, the office manager is amazing, responsive and very supportive. Highly recommend Dr Wolfgang Boeck for a Berkeley area dentist. I had a very negative experience with a dentist I found through yelp and just walked into Dr Boeck's office one afternoon. He greeted me with warmth and professionalism. His receptionist Charlene followed up with me and contacted my previous dentists for x rays. I got an appt on the calendar for a difficult crown application procedure. While the procedure itself wasn't pleasant, I felt safe and comfort in this office. The decor is modern and lovely and the environment is very welcoming. All communication is through text which is very convenient and non intrusive. I last went to the dentist in...2017? 2018? Who knows. I've been avoiding it for years, and Covid was a great excuse to stretch my avoidance out for even longer. Finally, I got up the courage to make an appointment and chose Dr. Boeck based on my husband's recommendation. For my initial visit, I was surprised when Dr. Boeck did the routine cleaning himself, rather than a hygienist. I wrote in my intake forms that I have a lot of anxiety around dental work, and he brought that up to me right away. He suggested doing the cleaning manually (with the metal tools) rather than the electric brush thing, and it was way less nerve-wracking. The brush reminds me of a drill, so I'm not a fan of it! He recommended fillings for two cavities. I went back and got those fillings today. Dr. Boeck was generous with the anesthetic, so I really didn't feel a thing. (I have felt many unfortunate things at previous dentists.) This place is highly recommended for anyone with dentist anxiety. Also, Dr. Boeck doesn't do any unnecessary up-selling like other places I've been to. He recommends what is needed and nothing more. One last thing: Charlene at the front desk is amazing! After a long hiatus, I finally went to the dentist. I had been dreading it after not going for a few years and was expecting the worst. Happy to say Dr. Boeck is the best dentist I have ever been too and it was a great experience. I actually look forward to getting my teeth cleaned! My mother originally found Dr. Boeck as a dentist for my grandfather (who spoke German as a first language), and the rest of our family began going to him after. I moved back to the Bay Area this year after living out of state for almost 10 years, and was welcomed back. I needed some work done (nothing crazy, just replacement of a filling) and Dr. Boeck and his staff were so great. They made me very comfortable, had a very professional manner but were friendly and funny at the same time. The ladies at the front desk are super friendly and helpful as well. One of the reasons I was sad to move out of Berkeley is because me & hubby could no longer see Dr. Boeck!! He is seriously a fantastic dentist. I had struggled for years to find a good, reliable dentist that I was comfortable with, and Dr. Boeck was it. I found him a bit by accident after some Googling--I had gotten a chipped tooth on a Thursday night, and he was able to squeeze me in on Friday! After that, we stayed with him for years. His office is very neat and tidy, and he is *extremely* punctual. If you have a 1:30pm appointment, you will be seen at 1:30pm. This reliability was hugely important for us. Also, he works 8am-6pm 4days/wk, which made it very easy for us to do appointment just before or just after work. His advice was always very measured, and he never suggested any unnecessary work to me or my husband. Lastly, his office admin Charlene is just the loveliest person and we adore her. She always remembered our names (and knows us by voice when we call), and her communication was spot-on. Reminders get sent out in a very timely manner, and with very clear instructions, so you know exactly what to do. And she is extremely efficient and effective in how she helps patients through all of the administrative components. The great experience we had at Dr. Boeck's office would not have been complete without Charlene. We really miss Dr. Boeck's office now that we've moved to SoCal, and I'm so nervous to have to find a new dentist--I know they will never stack up to the great care we received here! read more

I wish I had taken pictures of this place. The decor is simple, clean, and modern. Charlene, working at the front desk, is so helpful. Unfortunately, Dr. Boeck was out of my insurance's network and as a low-income student I am upset I could not continue coming here. Charlene took her time to find a location for me that accepted my insurance, she followed up with me, and she gave me the best dental experience. In my case, I needed my xrays emailed elsewhere and she was quick to respond. When I called her, she remembered me and asked how everything was going. I felt like she truly cared. This is the way every business should run... by truly taking the time to make your customers happy. As for Dr. Boeck, he was very patient, gentle, and took his time to inspect my teeth and gums. I never felt so comfortable sitting at a dentist's office. I felt very confident of his knowledge and recommendation. I am really comfortable going to this office. Dr Boeck, Vicky (the hygienist) and the entire office staff are kind, keep track, can deal with different personalities, they are creative, flexible, caring, do great work and know the best referrals. My teeth have always been bad and my dentists in the past have made them even worse. I went to see Dr Boeck fully prepared to get some of my teeth pulled. I was scared and ashamed of my mouth. But the opposite happened.. He and his assistant and hygienist managed to talk me through a long term plan, which turned out to be perfect. After all those years I still have all my teeth in my mouth and I actually like the outcome. I have a seizure disorder and they cared enough to get all the information so they can work with me to avoid stressors and triggers. They are also very welcoming to my Service Dog - actually they are sucker for her ;)) And btw - Dr Boeck has beautiful eyes, which are always smiling. That helps when you got people poking around in your mouth. His assistant is witty, easy to work with, their work goes hand in hand and she's kind. Vicky is calm, considerate, funny, knowledgeable and interesting to be around. The front desk staff, Joellen and Charlene are always on top of everything, are good and organized planners, are flexible and have the talent to listen and make you laugh. Let me start this by saying I have anxiety particularly around going to the dentist, and that's why I avoided going for years. I'm trying to take care of myself this year, and since I found Dr Boeck through the Berkeley parents network page, I wanted to check out his office, and I'm so happy I did. The decor is really nice, the location is conveniently located, and they play really soothing music. Everyone at the office was personable, polite, professional and thorough. They were very non-judgmental about the fact that I waited so long, which I was very grateful for. I had a great cleaning and they talked me through everything so I knew what to expect. They checked in along the way to make sure I was doing ok. I'm glad I don't need more work done for the moment, but if I do in the future, I feel much less anxious having visited their office! Dr. Boeck and his team are truly fantastic!!! Charlene at the front desk is very welcoming, kind and helpful. Dr. Boeck himself is very kind and calming (in case you don't enjoy sitting in that chair...), and he has a great sense of humor. I've been seeing Dr. Boeck since I was in gradeschool, and am thoroughly impressed with his work. The staff has an upbeat demeanor and a great sense of humor, they'll let you pick the radio station while your getting worked on (which in my case is usually industrial music... goes well with the drilling), and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I've never had to go back to get a filling repaired due to low quality work... only once, as a consequence of my own recklessness, and Dr. Boeck was very helpful and non-judgmental, and patched things up on very short notice. I have been seeing Dr. Boeck about 10 years. I moved to Vallejo from Berkeley seven years ago and still drive to Berkeley to be seen in his office. Dr. Boeck has repaired/replaced poor dentistry/damage done by another dentist, as well as regular maintenance. Dr. Boeck and his assistant work well together and can be very entertaining. They are current in dental technique and knowledge. The dentistry is well done and attractive. The office is comfortable with quiet private treatment rooms and your choice of music style. The fees are on the high-end of U & C and the front office can be prickly. read more

Dr. Boeck is, hands down, the best dentist that I've ever been to. He has multiple great qualities, most importantly, he is a superb dentist, VERY attentive, VERY thorough, and VERY professional. He also is an art lover, so has a lot of art in his office. (His new office is like a work out of architectural design) let's you pick your music and has an incredible collection of music. It seems almost redundant at this point to write another 5 star review, but I had the most incredible experience yesterday so I figured I should say something. I am no fan of the dentist and thus, frequently ignore my 6 months follow up recommendations. Two years later, I had hunted down and made an appointment with the only dentist I have ever really trusted Dr. Boeck. It had been ten years since I last saw him before I went away to college (and I had had many horrible dentist experiences in the last decade), but everything was as outstanding as I remember (probably in large part to Charlene who has been there through the years)! My dental hygienist Sara was super great about giving me information while she worked and I honestly think she deserves a massage after the amount of muscle she put into getting the plaque off my teeth. It felt like such a thorough cleaning and my teeth were shining after. Dr. Boeck isn't your cursory dentist who looks at your x-rays and schedules your filling appointments. He physically checked each and every tooth with so much care that I felt like maybe I should care about them as much as he does! I'm moving to Philly in a month, but I already booked my cleaning for the holiday season when I'm home. You should book an appointment too. read more
