I work in the very cerebral world of contract management and just retired from a job that left me depleted. A friend of mine just started her Reiki practice. I had heard of Reiki (see first sentence), and a friend "did it on me" when I was grieving a loss about two decades ago. "That's cool. I'm open. After all, it's ancient and Japanese and involves working with one's life force energy - I'm in! Who couldn't use a life force energy tuning!" I've known Heather as a friend for a couple of years, so I was definitely comfortable with her. What I didn't anticipate was the level at which I would feel relaxed and restored. I came out of our session feeling so positive and energized and yet relaxed. She has an amazing way of setting the intention in the room and intuiting exactly what I needed. It was the perfect reset button for me. I realize that since she's a friend, that this review will be perceived as not having as much "gravitas" as if a stranger wrote it - but don't be fooled! I would probably not write any review had it just been "meh." I think overall this sums up my session (from Wikipedia): "A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. I received a reminder email closer to the event which was nice. The event offered a pre-sound bath gathering which I was very excited about. Location is on Silverado trail with street parking and a parking lot in the back. I arrived 5 minutes before gathering and was immediately greeted by the lovely Melanie. I had the pleasure of speaking with her before everyone arrived. She was kind, sweet and has a soothing voice. She was able to answer all my questions. I used the restroom before we started and it was clean. While she continued to set up, I sat down for some tea while others trickled in. The space indoors was beautifully decorated, clean, organized and so welcoming. It was a warm and comfortable environment and the people were very friendly. We sat and chatted about our intentions for a few minutes then headed to the mats to begin the sound bath. In addition to the mats that she provided, she had pillows, a blanket and an eye mask for each of us. We were a group of 9 individuals. The sound bath was relaxing, calming, and brought this feeling of relief. Everyone's experience would be different which is why I definitely recommend trying this if you haven't. If you have, it is worth coming back to! Our lives become so busy so this was nice to reset my mind and body. This was a great event and i can't wait to try other services/ classes.
