When my daughter started showing signs of wanting to perform either singing or dancing I told a friend who recommended me coming here since her daughter was going there. We decided to take a chance and try it out. Nestled in a business center along with a closed restaurant and a dollar store is this awesome dance studio. Since my daughter has started coming here I've noticed her confidence level go up, she is so happy getting out all that energy from her system and applying it to flexibility and strength training in tumbling, jazz, ballet, and tap dance. She loves it so so much. She is always in the hands of professionals and trainers that fill their class with good music, moves that will warm her up for a successful performance at the end of the year. At the end of the year they show different performances that they prepare for during the year to end in a grand finale! So excited to see my little girl blossom and become strong & athletic. Can't wait to see her perform at the end of the year! I think it's every ballet parents' dream come true. Feels so rewarding! Filthy place full of roaches. On multiple occasions we used a studio that is infested with critters! The owner, obviously , doesn't invest in upkeep of the studio and it shows. Customer service is poor and obviously the owner has issues with attitude! read more

This is our third year at Kathy Marfin's with both a male and female dancer. The kids are continually challenged to become the best possible dancer they can be. The teachers are knowledgeable and teach in a fun, supportive environment. They foster teamwork and camaraderie within the school. During COVID they enacted a safe, thorough plan to allow the dancers to continue dancing. We were so impressed they were able to keep the kids engaged during that trying time. I attend Healing Hula , ho'opa'a and meditation class on Saturdays. Kumu Kaipo is our Kumu. I have been a student since October 2016 and had no dance experience. I had no rhythm either but here I learned how to dance , chant and find inner peace. Healing Hula is much more than just dance it teaches you to be pono and find balance in life. Today is our open house for our new dance studio. We used to share a room with all ballet dancers but now we have our own room. Today we are showcasing the new classes that are being added. These include Meditation and ukelele. We host monthly workshops and have a workshop Sunday October 15 at 12:30 pm where you can experience meditation, Ukulele, and hula for fun. Ever since my son was about 2 years old he's loved dancing. So me and my girlfriend decided to put him in a class to see how he did. We signed him up for a toddler class and he did his performance a few months later with much success. I I thank Kathy Marfin and her instructors on being patient, ensuring the kids are always having fun and picking songs that kids will enjoy. When he first started, he couldn't even really jump. And by the time he finished his final performance they had helped him become a lot more coordinated and understand how to move his body in sync with the music. He still has a long way to go before he's Kevin Bacon from Footloose but we all have to start somewhere. As an added bonus, they had very reasonable prices for the photography session they offered because the owner's husband already had professional equipment in the back of the studio. The service here has always been very good and I would highly recommend this dance studio for classical, tap and Jazz. The only style I did not think they really excelled in was Hip Hop and if that's your focus, I would recommend going somewhere that specializes in it. Prices were very reasonable and class sizes were mid size so you know your kid will get the attention he/she deserves. I really enjoyed seeing my son develop and understand a little bit more on what it means to stay on beat and bust a move! read more

My daughter went to this school for 1 year. Everything was fine until the end of the year when her jazz teacher decided to leave the class 2 weeks before the year ended and a new teacher came in. Then the recital came... what a damn nightmare!! They were so uncoordinated!!! Nobody knew what was going on during dress rehearsal. They tell you your child can bring snacks to eat backstage then they told my daughter she wasn't allowed to eat, even though she was there for 5 hours. They did the recital at Judson High School and the auditorium was too small and nobody had a seat. People were "saving" seats even though they weren't supposed to. The people in charge did not do anything about besides announcing that they weren't allowed to save seats. Worst recital EVER!! I will not re enroll my daughter at this school just because of this. I'm so disappointed with this school. read more

My daughter is 4 and has been here since she was 2. I love it here! Her teacher in the past two years was amazing! Even her new teacher this year has the girls working hard and teaching new techniques. And their huge recital at the end of the year was amazing. My daughter danced with Kathy Marfin's Dance studio for one year. We appreciated that the studio was only 8 minutes from our house, receptionists were kind and my daughter had fun with the recital. Additionally, the teacher my daughter had for her trial class was firm, yet encouraging. Great. However the teacher my daughter ended up having was firm without the encouraging. And the recital photos turned into a ridiculous mess. After six months of not getting her photos, I was told they had some but not all of what I had purchased and would offer a partial refund. I requested a full refund for my trouble which they agreed to give. Six months later I still do not have the refund. I have filed a complaint with the BBB but have not heard a response. read more
