I love Japanese food. And I also love to drink. So you can imagine my delight when I chanced upon Katsu Japanese Grill. Located at The Fort Strip, it is the perfect venue to load up before heading to your favorite club in the BGC area or if you're in the mood for a laidback dinner and drinks session with friends. Katsu offers a variety of Japanese food that's quite good, definitely better than your fast food fare. I usually order their Kakiage, which is one of the best I've tasted in the Metro. They also offer your usual staples like Donburi bowls, Spicy Tuna Salad, Katsu, Tempura, Yakitori, Maki Rolls. What sets this establishment apart from the rest is that they are able to merge a bar set-up with an above average Japanese dining experience. I love their signature cocktails and they're buy one, take one even when it's not happy hour. My staple Katsu poison of choice is their sour amaretto and their weng-weng. They don't scrimp on the liquor either (and I hate it when establishments do that, I find it's quite a sell out) so you will get your alcohol fix. The vibe of the place is also great, pretty laidback with a mix of yuppies, foreigners, teenagers, and cool titos and titas depending on what day you go. Because they sell alcoholic drinks at a pretty affordable price, people usually make it a pre-game stopover on Friday nights before heading to clubs where getting drunk will cost you your liver plus an arm and a leg. So if you're looking for a casual Japanese dining experience with a shot of alcohol, Katsu is a definite go-to. read more
