**Absolutely wonderful experience pregnancy from start to birth** Everything you need to have a natural birth and a lovely intimate experience. Professional, top notch, well rounded and best of all, respectful of our personal medical decisions which is a huge deal for us. We had a perfectly healthy and "calm" labor in a serene atmosphere. We had our music playing and those we wanted present were able to attend with no restrictions. Highly, HIGHLY recommend taking this route versus a hospital if it is at all possible. I chose to birth my baby at Katy Birth Center after attending their "Meet the Midwives" on a Monday because it seemed like they had a great staff and were well organized. My experience was far from that. I ended up losing my daughter at 28 weeks and I do feel like it was partly due to their negligence and lack of communication. I chose my midwife based on the Google reviews but didn't even meet her at an appointment until I was in treatment with them for 4 months. I saw the same midwife for 3 appointments in a row when I should have had a different one each time. She was very nice and understanding that I wanted to meet them all but wouldn't communicate with me before an appointment that I would be seeing her again, in case I wanted to re-schedule. At this point I felt like my concerns weren't being taken seriously. At one point she tells me one of the midwives on my team had retired and a new one would be taking her place and that the main midwife I specifically chose was also getting ready to retire and wouldn't be taking an active role in attending births. I was floored! I couldn't believe that wasn't communicated to me at the beginning. I had told them I didn't have a good experience birthing my son and I really wanted this time to go differently so I wanted to know and feel comfortable with the midwives that would be attending the birth. Then around 25 weeks I stopped feeling my baby move as much as usual and it didn't seem right to me so I let my main midwife know that I was experiencing some pain and not feeling my daughter as much. She relayed some of that information to the new midwife on my team and told her to do a non stress test to ease my mind. The midwife was not happy to have to do all of that for me and I could tell during the appointment. I left feeling relieved that I heard my baby's heartbeat but I didn't feel good about the interaction. She made me feel uncomfortable as if it was a bother for her to have to check on my baby. She told me my baby was probably in a position where I couldn't feel her, so I believed her and left. I messaged them again a few weeks later to tell them I had gotten covid, got better, but then couldn't keep anything down at all. One of them messaged back suggesting I go in for an IV if it persisted. Apparently she didn't know about my previous symptoms and not feeling baby. That's all I was told to do. Since I they didn't seem concerned and I was still uncomfortable about the previous interaction I didn't contact them again about anything else. When I went in for my 28 week appointment I found out my baby no longer had a heartbeat. I have no idea how long I had been walking around like that and it breaks my heart to know that. After the fact they became the most caring and attentive midwives, doing everything they should have done before I lost my daughter but it was too late at that point. I found out later the lack of communication and continuity of care there was among the midwives. I truly feel if at least one of them had known everything I was experiencing and had more compassion towards me my baby girl could have been saved. They tried to tell me even if we had known something was wrong that nothing could have been done and my baby probably wouldn't have made it but only God knows that. I've read plenty accounts of babies at that gestational age making it outside the womb. My baby deserved a chance at life and now she'll never have that and I have to live with that for the rest of my life. I should have done more and spoken up for myself and my baby but they also should have done more too. read more

Patient Last Birth Center My initial experience with KBC included an early ultrasound and care from Natalie, CPM who lacked the knowledge and confidence to support me through an uncertain situation. My baby's heartbeat was undetectable at the time and initially I was not worried, a simple google search provided me with enough reassurance that this sometimes happens. Natalie however convinced me that my baby was dead and that I would miscarry in the upcoming weeks. She focused on my age, citing facts associated with egg quality, defects, and perimenopause... I am 39. As it turned out my baby was fine, although my husband was disgusted with her lack of knowledge and experience, I was not ready to give up my dream birth so we proceeded to sign on with KBC with the understanding that we would receive care from a CNM, which was a requirement that was clearly stated and agreed upon. Now, one month before my due date, I was informed that my nurse practitioner had been fired and the only available CNMs were no longer accessible, leaving me without a viable option for my desired care. Below is the message that I received from one of the CNM/Owners "Hi Nicole This is Connie Blokkum CNM at Katy BC. Cathy explained your desire for a CNM at your birth... I'm willing to meet for a complimentary interview but will be out of town from 3/26-30 I'm also having a surgery 3/6 and will be recuperating until 3/20 (2 wks). I am the only other CNM besides Sue Potts and she will be on vacation mid March... I apologize for the lack of CNM options" While deciding whether or not to withdraw from care. Tara, the DIRECTOR from KBC reached out, not to discuss solutions but to reassure me that they were justified in firing my midwife, citing "red flags" they had seen from the beginning". She continued on bashing my midwife while reassuring me that she was not in fact bashing her. It was inappropriate and unprofessional to involve me in this internal drama. I should not have been exposed to such matters, nor should personal grievances have been shared with me as a patient. This lack of professionalism left me feeling that internal conflicts were affecting patient care, which further eroded my trust in their ability to put patients first. To top it all off they lack accountability, instead of taking any responsibly for leaving me without adequate care one month before my due date, they refuse to refund the $500.00 deposit. Cathy Rude (appropriately named), one of the owners was extremely dismissive and condescending as she continued to speak over me when discussing the matter. She also continued to blame my midwife for my current situation rather than accepting any responsibility. I wish I had seen the "red flags" from the beginning. It is clear my midwife was not the issue. It seems like these women are catty and lack the emotional intelligence to prioritize patients over money. These women are greedy, unqualified, and unprofessional and have no business being a part of anyones birthing journey. They simply do not care about you. UPDATE: Response from Business Owner It was distressing based on how the situation was handled and the decision to withhold the deposit despite knowing that you could not fulfill the needs of the patient which were clearly stated before establishing care. If that were the case then it should have been communicated before, not after the fact. Not to mention that you tried to convince me that a CNM was available after telling me that they were not available, only when it came to the discussion of the deposit. Whilst also telling me that you make no guarantees which leads me to believe you would have provided me with a midwife last minute whom I wasn't comfortable with just to keep the money. I stand behind my statement. You're greedy and sneaky and do not care about your clients, only money. You showed no remorse or empathy and have been extremely rude and difficult through this process. I hope this review helps prevent future mama's from making the same mistake of placing their trust in you. read more

This was my fourth child, second home birth, and first time at the Katy Birth Center and I felt like I was still learning things that no one had ever mentioned to me before. I swear this was my healthiest pregnancy. Melissa Bates and everyone at the Katy Birth Center did an amazing job ensuring everything went smoothly, and that baby and mama were all good. Our midwife was Natalie and she was the greatest gift to us. She was such an inspiration and such a motherly figure. She was the perfect balance of fun and seriousness. She helped us with our first pregnancy and always was open and honest. She made us feel like family and never let us down. We were blessed to have such a great support system. I had both my beautiful babies here at KBC. First in 2021 and then again in 2023, both times I was in awe of the experience. I had a water birth for both my kids, with Tonya and Natalie, it was so calm and focused I'd do it over again in a heartbeat! I love my midwives, Tonya gives great advice and recommendations for supplement and relief during and after pregnancy! My second baby born in 2023, was born quickly and she had trouble keeping her oxygen up so we had to be transferred to the hospital. My lovely midwives tried everything they could but my BabyGirl was still having trouble. Tonya followed us to the hospital and came up with us to make sure everything was ok and that we felt as comfortable as possible in this trying time! Tonya checked in on us in our 2 day nicu stay and I really appreciate her keeping me calm and educated! I love my experience every pregnancy I've had so far and both my babies were born healthy and in a beautiful loving, calm environment, I couldn't have asked for better birth experiences. I used Connie Blokkum as my midwife for 3 out of my 4 babies. (My first was born in a hospital with an OB) The care I received from the birth center and from Connie was very personal. I never waited long for my appointments, she spent time during each visit to address any concerns, and the visits never felt hurried or rushed. She took time to get to know me and my family, to know what birth plan we hoped for, and made me feel safe. I knew that if it was possible, she would help me stick to my birth plan, but if required alternatives were in place. During the 5 years I have been going to the birth center, I have become familiar with many of the other midwives, assistants, and other office staff and have nothing but good things to say about them. If there is ever a baby #5 I wouldn't go anywhere other than KBC! read more

My husband and I had an amazing first birth experience with Natalie Wommack as our midwife. Natalie is very knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy, and she holds a great balance between medical and holistic care. She was so supportive through the entire pregnancy. She took her time at each appointment to make sure I was cared for in every way. Physically, she made sure Baby and I were healthy and progressing well, taught me valuable breathing and birth preparation exercises, kept me accountable with my eating habits, and made sure I was on the right supplements at the right times. Mentally, she recommended great books and resources, took her time explaining things in a way that empowered me to understand and act on them easily, and was always excited to see me researching and learning things on my own too. Emotionally, she was very caring and quickly became someone I trust wholeheartedly. Spiritually, she was such a sweet encouragement and full of grace. Although she is extremely knowledgeable, she was also humble and empowering, encouraging our ideas and preferences. During the birth, Natalie was attentive the entire time to every detail and helped create a peaceful and powerful environment. My family and I had a wonderful experience with Katy Birth Center. From the moment I met our midwife, Connie Blokkum, I knew we were in great hands. Connie is an amazing, nurturing, kind hearted, God centered woman and we feel so blessed to have her in our life. She has a calming, reassuring voice that makes me feel so loved and taken care of. She genuinely cares about her clients. She takes her time with each appointment, making sure to answer all questions in detail. The emotional support from her is great. During my first pregnancy I felt scared as my due date neared and she asked about my fears and how I was feeling. She listened and hugged me while I cried and reassured me and made me feel safe and well prepared. Throughout my pregnancy she made sure everything was going well with baby and always had helpful remedies for anything I needed. When my contractions started I called her as she was having a cast removed. That didn't stop her from heading straight to KBC to meet my husband and I! I felt completely in control of the birth. My husband was totally involved, I was able to catch my baby, have delayed cord clamping and then bathe my baby. We ate while Connie and Jackie made sure baby and I were healthy and we went home just a few hours after our baby was born. Connie and Jackie coached us through labor and delivery with such attentive care and we could not have asked for a better birth experience. After the birth Connie kept in contact and checked on our whole family. Her breastfeeding knowledge helped us tremendously. Everything went so smoothly and we are glad we made the choice to go to Katy Birth Center. Jackie Walker helped me through labor and massaged my back in a way that almost completely took the pain away. She was amazing! Natalie Wommack came in to offer advice when my daughter seemed a little stuck and she was born just minutes later. Two years after my first birth I had a situation in which I needed help so I called the birth center and spoke to Cathy Rude. She told me to come in and stayed late to wait for me. She listened and talked me through my situation and gave me great advice. Lynn Wilkinson always makes us feel welcome with a warm smile. She is friendly, helpful, and supportive. We will forever be grateful for the loving care we received from everyone at Katy Birth Center. We will be returning for our next birth in May! read more

After bad experiences with hospital births I looked for a midwife and birth center to deliver my third baby. Cathy Rude gives a high level of care to expecting moms and encourages evidence based decisions. All the midwives are available by phone, text and email so there is always someone able to answer questions and concerns. I will definitely being back to KBC if we have a 4th baby. read more
