Back in July when hurricane Beryl came through in July of this year, we had a section of old fence just lay down. It was time to replace anyway so about a month after the storm, I turned to Yelp for help finding a contractor to do the work. Katy Fence Repair was one of the top recommendations, so I reached out to them. Before I go any further, I have to say that communications with them was difficult at times. Almost all was done by email and some quick, some slow. I found out that at about the same time I reached out to them, their ofc was burglarized and everything stolen so it took them a while to get back up and going. So, I will say their communication skills need to get better. I read previous reviews, and most negative comments were about communication. Their method of the way they did things seemed odd, of perhaps had never encountered before, but the quote was based on a satellite pic as they pulled the distances from that - and they were dead on within a foot - amazing. I was splitting the cost with my neighbor, and they broke out who was responsible for what, as I had a get to replace and a shorter span that was not common with my neighbor. They could not lock in a date until the contract was signed, but once the contract was done, I put 1/2 down and a date was set. They actually came a week sooner and that was great as we have 3 dogs, and our makeshift barrier was on its last legs. The did all the leg work of contacting 811 and marking any lines underground, they were familiar with the Grand Lakes HOAs so we would be compliant - don't want to get on the wrong side of an HOA. They arrived at 7:00 am and by 1:30pm, a new 90' fence was in place. I would like to have given them 5 stars, but the communication issues bumped them down. Great work though. read more

Katy fence and repair offered to repair my fence. They offered a price higher than their competitors. I asked for a time frame to repair the fence. They wanted 1/2 payment and signed contract up front. I asked for a time frame to install the frame. They refused to provide one until they received the executed contract and the deposit. They suggested a tentative time frame of 7 to 10 working days. I asked for it as part of contract. When I refused to sign the contract without a start date, they called me a derogatory name and a waste of time. Buyer beware. Not wise to sign a contract without dates and half up front weeks before the work is to be performed. Their competitors offer better terms. read more

There is still something really strange going on here I got a call from a blocked number from Alvin Texas hollering and screaming at me did not even know who it was. His complaint was about a google review which I have never used or heard off. Guess bad customer service spreads. I read the lie response. Good thing about modern day cell phones there are call logs. First call was at 8:22 AM with voice mail left. Second call was 8:36 no voicemail left. Third call was 10:28. Fourth was 4:41pm with again voice mail left. Not only was Katy Fence Repair very reasonably priced but they were a delight to work with. The quote arrived promptly. All our questions were answered quickly and the whole process was executed perfectly. The utilities were marked, and the wood arrived on schedule. The new fence and gate was carefully installed in less than a day. The site was left perfectly clean with the old fence removed. Our plants, gas line, sprinkler heads and magnolia tree, which are all very close to the fence line, were not damaged. We are very pleased with the quality of the fence. KFR estimated my cost online and we trued up the bill after the installation and final measurements. The Office staff was a pleasure to work with and helped me allocate the expenses between myself and my neighbors. They require a 50% deposit and final payment after the work is complete for jobs over $1000. The crew was courteous and professional, did an excellent job on clean up and hauled away my old fence. 06-07-18 This is an update to my initial review. I added dirt along the areas with the largest gaps and it helped, although I may try adding wood strips to some other sections. Since gaps between fence and ground seem to be a normal part of installation, I am revising my rating. Also, I had a severely warped gate post which made latching the gate extremely difficult. After a few emails and some pictures, Katy Fence Repair agreed the post was defective and replaced it, at no additional charge, and the gate works normally again. read more

I was specific on the length and material needed with the request to come out to measure. They refused to come out and decided to look at online which they decided to increase the length. I requested for them to again come out and measure and they refused again. Several times I had to tell them the material that was needed. Then they wanted me to sign the contract immediately before sending me a quote. Several times I had to tell them it has to be HOA approved prior to installation. Do your homework before calling this company. If you use this company, make sure they don't cheat you and add more to the quote that what is actually needed. read more

Joe was quick and responsive with a detailed bid via email. The crew was experienced and efficient. They replaced one post, several metal pickets, sanded, primed, and spray painted. Took extra steps to make sure paint did not get on the nearby brick. Later, I noticed a few sections of fence where a light rain left some water spots right after the job was done.
