If you want to fight a ticket in court, you'll need a different type of lawyer. This service will only postpone your court dates repeatedly to keep you from amassing too many points at once and eventually plead guilty (which is fine when you're actually guilty). If you know you're innocent, call someone else. **EDIT** After editing my review to four stars on Google, Katz broke client/attorney privilege and left me to deal with another ticket that I had already paid them for on my own without a refund for either. if it was possible to give negative stars i would. Very unprofessional and a little to quick to get your credit card info and charge you as soon as you finish giving him your info. I made the mistake of hiring them for literally one day just to call back and cancel their services. Keeping in mind it was literally 24 hours I called back requesting a full refund and to cancel their services b/c i found someone more in my price range and alot nicer. It was 3 weeks before my bank had to jump in give me a full refund. I called one to many times to get the run around of "we'll call you back" or "we're waiting to file that paper work" bullshit. I hired this law firm to fight a moving violation. After being postponed, I did not get any points on my license for the violation. Everything was handled professionally. I referred family members to this firm as well. At a later point, my wife needed their services, and we were given a discount due to my prior referrals. Personally had a great experience all around. read more

I would urge anyone NOT to deal with this lawyer. He wanted me to pay him about 5 minutes into our first ever phone conversation and then when I inquired about meeting at his office to consult with him, he became incredibly indignant and his tone immediately turned hostile. Instead of discussing the matter further with me he cut me off in mid sentence and said "I suggest you find another lawyer" and then hung up on me! All because I didn't want to give him my credit card information right away! So, needless to say, I am going to get another lawyer and I would urge anyone else that is considering hiring Seth Katz to do the same. The impression I got from his tone and from his words was that all he cared about was getting as many people to pay him and sign a contract with as little "consultation" as possible. This is very dangerous. However, if you like getting yelled at and then hung up on, go ahead and give Seth a call! If could give negative stars I would, do not deal with Seth Katz and his law firm. they have incompetent lawyers working there especially Seth Katz himself. They are quick to take your money but not respond to your phone calls or request and if you do get lucky to get someone on the phone its the same runaround. they have been jerking me around for 2 years if not more. I won a judgment a couple of years ago and I still have yet to receive my paperwork which they were supposed to handle and never did. They will make excuse after excuse til you give up calling. I have had nothing but a terrible experience working with them especially SETH he is a liar and a cheat. I am reporting them to the BBB for negligence and misrepresentation. A terrible experience: I had a problem, so I hired him. Now I have two problems. I hired Seth and at first, he was very responsive, always personally answering the phone and responding to emails. He diligently took my information, had me sign a retainer and then charged my credit card for the fee he quoted of almost $1,000. After that, I never heard from him again. I called about 10 times, left voice mails, and emails. After two months I had given up. I am currently exercising all available legal recourse to recover the money. This guy is crook. read more

They are terrible not even do anything for you they got money up front like 2 minutes later I asked them to fight for mobile phone ticket. they didn't communicate with me not even once. like 2 months before 2 years was up I got letter from DMV we lost the case. I called the lawyers office person answers the phone tells me didn't you get the letter from DMV so don't even try them they are total incompetent you better do it yourself. read more

I had almost the identical problem as below. I spoke to Seth Katz on a Monday afternoon. He was very quick to take my cc info and charge my card over $700. I did research that evening and discovered my situation wasn't nearly as bad as Seth thought and I called the next morning to cancel. At this point I had signed no retainer agreement, yet was charged in full. Seth told me he would issue a refund as soon as I sent in the signed agreement to close his file. I sent in the agreement, having deleted language that stated I gave up the right to file a credit card dispute. I saw no refund after a week. I contacted his office via phone and email multiple times with the same response "we'll call you back". No one ever called. I sent a final notice via Seth's website stating if I did not hear anything by noon the following day I would file a dispute. No response (I did have a missed call from a blocked number 20 minutes later, but no voicemail). Today I filed a credit card dispute. I can't attest to his capacity as an attorney, but Seth Katz's law firm is not a business I would want to work with again based on this experience. read more

I was told the same as others. He explained they show up to a court date and seek to extend it for up to 2 years, which helps the odds of the officer not showing up and the ticket getting dismissed, or at least having prior points fall off. Then he asked for $520 and never mentioned that it is a 50/50 shot (or less). Needless to say, found guilty at first court date, have to now pay tickets and absorb the points. Total cost of about $900 and points. Save the money, you have a better shot at begging the judge for mercy, or maybe plea bargaining with prosecutor. read more

I got a seat belt ticket . He never notify me of the hearing dates. after he took 350 dollars from me And postpone the ticket for 18 months, he lost the case and found me guilty. My license was suspended because he did not pay the bonds to postpone the hearing for three days and he never notify me and I found out by a letter from the dmv so If I drive when my license was suspended I was gonna be in trouble. I called him on Saturday to know the hearing date, the thief charged me 25 dollars to tell me the hearing date because it is on the weekend. The worst lawyer I ever dealt with. Honestly, one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a person. Hired this firm for a speeding ticket back in February..was very personal, asked a lot of questions about the night and the ticket and was very quick to charge my card $440 for their services. I was told that how it works is they show up to a court date and if they officer shows up, then they schedule another hearing. They continue to do this for up to 2 years, which helps the odds of the officer not showing up and the ticket getting dismissed. Well don't believe that from this firm because that is not how they do things. I was also told today that they can only schedule 3 other court dates and because when I pleaded not guilty online and picked a new date before I hired a lawyer, I had already used 2 of my 3!? Why wouldn't someone ask me that on the first phone call????? Apparently Steven (the initial person I spoke to about this), was just painting a pretty picture to lure in customers. So months later, not hearing from them at all, we get a letter in the mail from their office that says "you were found guilty, sorry, we tried our best". A letter? So they didn't reschedule the hearing again, and then were incapable of even getting the ticket down. So I would have been better off taking a day off of work and doing it myself. I asked why we couldn't have received a phone call since they took our money and literally did nothing. I was told from Kate McGauley, "we have so many hearings, we don't have time to call for something like that"..... I don't know why I didn't see these awful reviews before, because it absolutely makes sense now. Congratulations on being a total scam. read more

I got a ticket in SI in January of this year, I hired Seth and his so called team of experts. I have A CDL and needed to have this taken care of. Seth was so nice and understanding told me pay him $350.00 and he would take care of it, NO PROBLEM. He also claimed he would keep postponing it until the 18 month were over so I would get no points....Well I started to get suspension notices I called and Seth himself said " don't worry" I will fix it we are waiting for a certain Judge. I find out he entered me incorrectly in the computer so I was getting suspended for failure to respond. Then I get a letter from KATZ LAWYERS stating They lost in court and I now have to pay an additional $163.00 for a ticket plus $100. to get the 4 points reduced by taking a course. He has the nerve to tell me we can appeal but it will cost you another $100. WHAT A RIPOFF....I am out over $600. for NOTHING...I am looking to file a claim against him for my money back. How many more people will he scam...I can write this because it is 100% truth. read more
