In 2017, a traffic agent caught me holding my cell phone while driving through Midtown Manhattan. I wasn't even talking or texting--just looking at Google Maps as it was directing me to the Lincoln Tunnel. A conviction would add 5 points to my license, and POINTS ARE NON NEGOTIABLE IN NYC, like it is in the surrounding areas. There is no plea bargaining. So I kept rescheduling the traffic court date online and in Court. TWO TIMES IS THE LIMIT TO REQUEST AN ADJOURNMENT for a court date. I was fortunate to have my dates adjourned a year out each time, and then there was the pandemic. After it was over, I retained Weiss & Associates. I found them on Google. Attorney John H. represented me. He went to court once, and the case was adjourned when the ticketing officer requested additional time to study his notes. John had asked him too many detailed questions. Thanks John for a job well done. The next court date never came. The officer retired in 2022, five years after he issued the ticket. Funny, I see a lot of dismissals yet for my husband that was NOT the case. Got his first and only speeding ticket in Queens and after doing a search I found this company. After postponement upon postponement, the case was finally heard. Just received the results and so he now has 4 points on his license instead of 6 and a fine of $178.00. Also, let us not forget that the insurance will go up as a consequence. Then of course we had to pay for Weiss $ Associates services. How is it that some cases are dismissed and not others for speeding? Plus in the email it states that "the amendment of an infraction in the Traffic Violation Bureau Court is rare" yet I see other people have had amendments so It can't be that rare. Thanks for nothing. Would go with another company in the future. In response to Matthew W: Of course my rating pertains to the outcome of the case. Your communications, zealous representation and customer service plays no part here for me. We didn't hire you for your winning personality so to me those are moot points. We hired you to produce and you did not in my opinion. $350 +$178 = $528 vs $300, but ok. To me, never having had any speeding tickets before should have been a dismal or no points added with your representation but what do I know. Reading other reviews and their situations just don't add up when you compare it to a first offender. One person mentioned they had 5 tickets and all 5 were dismissed. I received a moving violation ticket over 5 years ago for holding a cell phone in my hand. It slipped off my seat as I turned a corner. I pulled to the side of the road, stopped the car, and picked it up. The officer gave me a ticket even though I explained the situation. The court date kept being postponed. When it finally came up, we were leaving that morning for California so I couldn't appear. Weiss & Associates were excellent to deal with. The assistant took all the information and Mr. Weiss called me the next day to explain the situation with this kind of ticket. I was told that a lawyer would show up on my behalf, and they would email me the next day with the results. That is exactly what they did and promised. I received a ticket for running a red light on my bicycle and wanted to see about fighting it. Matthew from Weiss & Associates responded promptly to my email. He explained that a bike infraction does not incur points on my license, and that the cost to fight it would be a little but more than the ticket itself, and therefore was not worthwhile for me to spend on fighting. He could easily have just taken on the case and would have made money on it. But he had the integrity to present me with the facts and to advise against hiring him. Very simple service. Got a ticket in upstate NY. The speed zone signs changed quickly and an aggressive driver tailgating me caused me to be way over the limit.
