They put in a new well and bladder tank, took the old one out from a crawl space on a lake you couldn't pay enough to work down there in those conditions, and moved the tank into a spare room closet where I wanted it. I have been a customer of Katz Well Drilling for over 30 years, with 3 install &/or repairs at three different houses. I made an appointment on Tuesday, for this Friday for a well repair/inspection "sometime in the morning" with the instruction given to me that they would "call me that morning to confirm the appointment and approximate time for the service tech to arrive." On Friday morning at 10a I had not yet heard from Katz so, I called them and spoke with "Kelly" who informed me that "the appointment was no longer available because I didn't answer the phone yesterday (Thursday) to confirm the appointment on Friday." I advised her the understanding was I would be called on Friday and need to be available on Friday. She was rude, and abruptly and said "that the service tech was already busy with his day." Ridiculous. I was told another week until I could be rescheduled. Customer lost, moving on. Kelly, work on your customer service when dealing with a customer that wasn't given what was agreed on. Your customers deserve better. read more

Katz came as quickly as possible to drill a well, replacing a very old failed unit. They worked quickly and efficiently, to drill the well, and put in new pipe, pump, tank and controls. The big truck tore up some of my SOFT ground area ( this could not be avoided where I live ) but after digging under my foundation for the new pipe in a new location, they used their mini dozer/backhoe to restore the land and did an excellent job. [ I tried to get them to layout a miniature golf course while at it....but alas to no avail ...hey...it never hurts to ask :-) ] .....They came back quickly to "disable" the old well per Mi requirements All in all they did a commendable job and were professional at it while being taking time to answer any questions and I recommend them ( unless, you want a mini golf course put in with your well ) E Romanco read more

Would not use these people again if they were the only service in town. Did not advise me of a $100.00 consultation fee. I always try to shop and use our local services, live less than 10 minutes away from their company, and I had asked for a consultation regarding g pipes banging. Young man stood in my doorway while I ran up and down the stairs trying to get the "banging" noises for his opinion and rate for possible repair. I couldn't get the pump to make the banging noise and he told me to call a plumber. He was here less than 5 minutes. I later received a "service fee" bill of $100.00. When I called the office, I tried to explain that there was no service and was not advised of a $100.00 consultation fee. I was told "well, you dont expect us to come out for free". When I again said I was not informed of the $100.00 consultation fee, I was then told to pay it I would be sent to collections. At this point, I told her to do what she needed to do. I was willing to pay but they should be up front regarding this fee. I had other companies willing to come for consultation for free but no, I had to choose Katz because they were local! I would not recommend these people to anyone! read more

We called at 2:15 saying that we did not have water. They said they would have someone out first thing in the morning. We agreed, then they called back 10 minutes later saying they could have someone out today. Tech arrived, was very processional and personable. Went right to work, had all parts needed on this truck. He had water flowing before 4:15, less than two hours. Availability may very on when they can do service, but we were impressed with their sense of urgency to our problem. They could have just come out the next day. The bill also came back UNDER the ballpark figure I asked the Tech for. I see no need to call any other well companies in the future, we will just call Katz. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I just left their business location and I am absolutely flabbergasted. My husband and I own a construction company and have been doing business with them for years. We've done an estimated amount of about $50,000 with this company. Today I walked in there ready to put our payment down for a new well that needs to be dug at a clients house. Upon trying to give her the check for the amount that we were told she said that it was going to be an extra $500 because of a certain kind of truck that they needed to send out because it was by a lake. Someone came out to give us an estimate last week and said nothing about there needing to be a special kind of truck or that it would be another $500 for that truck. I understand estimates and that it's not always the exact price. But the fact that a gentleman came out and saw that it was on a lake and did not say a word about needing this certain truck. My husband and I being business owners ourselves thought it was not fair of them to do this. I simply just told her that we weren't willing to pay the extra $500 because we didn't think that was very fair of them, the woman at the desk (part owner apparently) absolutely lost it started calling me names from shady, crazy, and even called me an effing B before I walked out the door and after telling her that we will no longer be doing business with them and my husband would be contacting one of the owners To tell them of her behavior. I closed the door and she ended up chasing me out to my car still yelling at me even after I closed my car door. The abusive behavior of this woman was so shocking. We will never be doing business with these people again nor will we ever send business their way. We have three new wells that need to be dug in the next year for new builds so if anyone has recommendations that would be great! read more

Purchased a home built in 1950 that had its original Sears pump inside the basement still in it. Pump went out on Sunday called 7 different drillers. Had 4 respond. First one told me he couldn't be out till Thursday and didn't have his own rig to drill. Second one was Katz which like the first was super professional, though they told me they could have someone out on Wednesday. Then the other 2 called... when I mentioned Katz, they just simply said they were a good crew and would take good care of me. I was actually surprised since they didn't even offer to come out and make an offer of bid. So, went with Katz. Chuck came out was exceptional courteous and professional. Explained to me all my options. He DID NOT say I needed a new well drilled. On the contrary said wells rarely if ever go dry. I decided to go with a new well system which was double the price of replacing the current system. My reasoning was, I couldn't stand being in the basement since the well was super loud.. I talked with Kathy who worked up the bid, was actually less than what my Aunt paid at another driller (she does live in Indiana)!!!! Katz came out reviewed the area walked me through where the trucks had to go over my lawn, and areas they could drill at with the equipment. Came upon an agreement. They drilled, let the well set due to chlorine they have to drop in. Katz came out the next day (different guy), yes, singular. Reviewed the area again with me, explained what he intended in doing, reviewed where my underground wires were (as the first crew did). Asked if I had any concerns, and when I said I was good he knocked the job out by himself in 1 day... plus he put my landscape back to its original state (minus the grass, but I for sure didn't care). Now I know why no one else tried to bid. I worked for 15 years contracting while in the military. Katz is equal to those that I contracted and as a family owned business makes the customer feel that way. I definitely recommend them to anyone wanting any work done. If something doesn't go right, just call the office. A family business will work with you, not against you. Superb!!!! read more

My pump failed and called Katz, They responded very quickly within the hour. The gentleman first tried to fix the pump in hope of saving me money. He got the pump to work, however it failed again in a couple of hours. He returned the same day and installed a new pump. Terrible - showed up day 1 without a plan after I asked them to come out twice before to look at our property. Once they drilled the well, water was yellow and cloudy and kept failing the inspections. Couldn't drink our water for over 2 months, which didn't seem to concern them. But they did seem concerned about getting paid on time. Terrible company, will never use them again and do not recommend. read more

2013 our well pump failed. We called Katz and they had a mess to work with....Oak tree in the way, a rusted out stand pipe, plus it stuck on the way up. He was able to clamp the pipe before it fell into the well, saving us $$$ in the process. Next day, new standpipe, new pump and cap, and we had water again. read more
