Went in to purchase a drink and some soap and stayed in the parking lot for a couple minutes after the purchase. The BIG lady (she can't be missed) came out extremely hostile and territorial like a dog asking why we were parked there after we had purchased something. We informed her we had just purchased something and were collecting ourselves before hitting the road. I informed her we could leave if it bothered her. Her attitude and emotional regulation were so poor, she quickly escalated and started threatening to call the police because it was "private property" after I told her she could have just calmly told us paying customers to leave. She proceeded to insult me and called me a bitch after I did not allow her to disrespect me. Anyway, she wasn't very aloha to say the least. I can't imagine how she treats other employees. Sending her aloha

The offering of local tropical flowers may be the best part of their inventory. They are beautiful and inexpensive. Inside, the inventory is lacking and pricy. The aisles are tight and with some shelves half empty. They have a decent, but pricy, selection of wine, spirits and beer. Then there is a limited selection of various household needs. I have never found what I was looking for on two visits. The staff is friendly. And the place has a lot of good character. But they need to ramp up the inventory.

It was the last gas station for the next two hours drive. I remember running into the store while Mr. Wong Yuen put gas in our vehicle. They still put gas for you! Mrs. Wong Yuen would be at the register and greet me right away with a smile. I would always grab a bun with red beans and shrimp chips. They had a tab for my dad so I would run out without paying. Today it's a hole in the wall place. Things are expensive here because it cost so much to get things to these parts. Support our local mom and pop shops.

Recently featured in an edition of Big Island Living magazine, this store and its owner/manager Roy, are classic treasures of an era gone by. Somehow, Roy manages to stock this tiny store with everything you could hope to find: fresh dairy products, breads, soda, beer, wine, canned goods up the kazoo, luncheon meats, snack foods, cookies and dessert goodies, and then goes well beyond in stocking things you'd never expect, like hardware and household project items! I don't know what we locals will do if ever this prized little store closes; for us? it's a neighborhood gathering place AND our preferred grocery store.

But the lady working there was so nice and explained everything! They even signed me up for the discount card. Mahalo for being so kind to this clueless mainlander! We got the 2 orders of the combo with 2 chicken thighs and 1 drumstick and 3 pieces of fried, batter dipped potato wedges. Pieces were large and meaty. It was a lot of food! Only $8.99 with the discount card for each box. The potatoes were tender and quite tasty. We really enjoyed them. Chicken itself was flavorful, although we found the crust too salty. It was a tiny bit dry. Not sure how long it had been sitting there. The crust was very crunchy. Everything was hot and well packaged. Overall, a great deal and worth a try if you're in the area! Location of this one is very convenient - just South of the airport and near the Costco.

My boyfriend really wanted the tonkatsu, but they had just run out, so we grabbed the fried chicken and the chili with rice and mac and ended up sharing everything. It totally hit the spot. Comfort food, super flavorful, and way better than we expected for a late-night convenience store stop. Not fancy, but when you're hungry and everything's closed, Minit Stop comes through.
