We searched for nearby mini mart and this one popped up between Costco and our resort. We were looking for water but saw yelp reviews of fried chicken. We wanted to try the 6 piece thigh for $13.99 but they ran out and it would have been another 15 minute wait. Instead we got one thunder thigh ($2.49 each) and three drumstick ($3.99 each) which is more costly because they charge by per piece. They offer three flavors, original, sweet chili, and korean. We stuck with original. It's about 30min drive back to our hotel and it was still crispy! It's like fried multiple times to be crispy and very moist inside. But then again, it's dark meat. For sure the best result is on the first day, second day would need to be warmed up in the oven. The spam musubi was yummy. Good amount of rice portion and the spam was flavorful. Maybe lacking a bit of teriyaki sauce but other than that, food at this minit stop is worth it. They offer rewards card so if you think you'll shop here often, then join their loyalty program.

Who would ever guess that some of the best fried chicken would be found at a gas station? Heard the rumor from several friends and had to try it out. Yes, it's true, all of the food from this little convenience store is awesome. The chicken was ultra crispy and light! You can buy premise bentos, made to order plate lunches and chicken by the piece or box. They also make sandwiches (tuna, ham, veggie and lobster) along with wraps. We tried the lobster croissant, and yes, there was real lobster mixed with imitation... but I know the lobster was real as there was actually a piece of shell! This was sooo yummy! Minit Stop is located right next to the Kona airport. In fact, it is the last gas station before the airport, you can't miss it.... in fact, you shouldn't miss it! It's delicious and an easy to grab before you depart!

    I'm not eating that!!

Came to big island for a little "vacay" from Oahu a few months ago and stayed in Kohala, ate Minit Stop almost every day for a week up there! lol fell in love with it!! Recently I been coming to Kona weekly for work, sometimes staying over night. I been craving the chicken and wedges from here so I went in to grab some for dinner after work. Got back to my room only to find out I was given undercooked chicken :( SUPER BUMMED. I was not about to drive all the way back.. so so so sad!!!! I ordered the 3 piece box (2 thighs, 1 drumstick, and 3 wedges)...only to rip into my chicken and find that 1 thigh and the drumstick were pink inside. To make matters worse, I'm so disappointed in the staff and their response. I called to let them know that my chicken was raw and all the girl had to say was "oh....sorry about that". I told her she should check the rest of the chicken and her reply was "uh okay" and she hung up!

Fried chicken plate to go - took it to the airport and it was quite a delicious treat!

Food, supplies, and gas......not your average gas station! I was initially introduced to Minit Stop in Maui a few years ago and loved the concept of a place where you can pick up food, drinks (water to alcohol)...oh and fill up the gas tank. Now let's be real.....the highlight: fried chicken! For less than $5, you can easily get a few pieces of fried chicken, your choice of wing, thigh etc. For a few more dollars, you can opt for an actual meal with rice and Mac salad. Oooowheeeee *happy dance! Fast forward to present time in Kona when we drove by Minit Stop and I immediately made my husband make this important pit stop. This location did not disappoint.....I ended up coming in twice during my trip on The Big Island. Before returning the rental car, we fueled up and grabbed to go fried chicken plates. Overall, efficient and reliable with pretty great hours!

My favorite are the tenders in Nashville heat with mac and cheese (which is AMAZING) or their mash potatoes and gravy! Therefore, I don't understand what Michael L. is complaining and regarding his bartender and her personal beliefs that she's ABSOLUTELY is entitled to; as are you! Unless you believe that freedom of speech is just good for a select few? And while your political views differ, it doesn't give you or anyone else the right to push your own OPINION and BELIEFS on others given actual FACTS and TRUTH about the actual state of things! And I find it ABSOLUTELY ironic that you call her anti-Amercan given that supposedly America is supposed to stand for I higher moral compass and protection of humanity, yet, at the moment let's reassess how things are going right now. Furthermore, learn your history bc I also think it's super F****n ironic that you're in Hawai'i talking about being anti-American. Why yes, of course we are anti-America since they have been illegally occupying our Kingdom for over a 100 years! And of course, like everything else America does it's all for FINANCIAL gain. They don't care about who they hurt! #doyourresearch #hawaiididnotwamttobethe50thState Leave my cool people at Willie's alone! They are professionals and they treat all people the same, UNLESS, you want to push your opinions on them and trash them for their beliefs. #constitutiom #freedomofspeech

It is overpriced. $22 for 3 chicken tenders, a side, 2 small sliced pickles and a slice of white bread is a bit much. The food is better than average but it doesn't justify the cost. My main issue is this is one of the places that push the credit card processing fees to the customer. This isn't a tiny mom & pop business that gets little foot traffic. This place is usually pretty busy. I tend to avoid places that push these fees to the customer. This was unheard of prior to Covid but now many places do this and for that reason, this is a place I won't suggest to people or routinely visit. The food is 3.5/5 but overall, I'm giving it a 3/5 because of the high prices and credit card fees.

They have pretty much everything you're looking for right here in terms of island staples. And the pricepoint for their huge menu is more than reasonable. And yes, they serve the LEGENDARY Yoshino's Hamburger steak here. Luckily, they didn't run out when I arrived. As stated, there is so much going on with the menu that you will be sitting there thinking about what's good. They even have off-the-menu daily specials. Everything sounds good! So yeah, had to try the Yoshino plate that comes with two patties, rice, and mushroom gravy. Huge portion that filled me up quick. The patty is tender and just reminds me of a handcrafted burger from home, not some processed crap. You can tell that they use an old-school, bread-crumb based recipe. Comfort food at its finest. The dish came with a side of Mac salad. Their's is elite as well. They make it with tuna, and it works! It's like a meal in itself. Like I said, so many food options to choose from. Kona Brewing Company was one of our favorite casual spots during our stay. Great service, great food, and a beautiful, relaxed setting that makes it an easy place to settle in and enjoy yourself. I had the Brewben both times and loved it. It was incredibly flavorful, generously portioned, and clearly good enough that I didn't feel the need to try something different on our second visit! One of my favorite beers of all time is their Hanalei IPA. It somehow manages to be light and refreshing while still having the flavor and complexity you expect from an IPA. I can never seem to find it on the mainland, so I was especially happy to enjoy it here and introduce a few of my friends to it. We also had the opportunity to try their seltzer with shave ice flavors, which was such a fun local touch. They absolutely nailed the shave ice flavor! Between the food, drinks, atmosphere, and consistently great service, this became an easy repeat for our group. Definitely worth a visit while you're in Kona!

First, we went on a Monday evening around 6:30 PM, and there was plenty of seating. The hostess seated us right away. Our server was amazing (I wish I could remember his name), but he was definitely friendly, efficient, and had a good personality. We ordered the Edamame, which had sesame oil and a little chili flakes. It had a slight kick, but it wasn't hot or spicy. Amazing! We then ordered the Captain Pizza, which had house-made tomato sauce, MOzzarella, Pepperoni, Tomato, Black Olives, Mushrooms, and Portuguese Sausage (Large /14" for $36. It was absolutely great! We ordered light sauce, and it came out perfect. The crust was cooked perfectly. Crusty on the outside, soft and hot on the inside. The toppings were perfectly seasoned, and the large size was more than enough for the two of us (we took half home). I also ordered the Liliko'i Kea Beer, which was a tropical passion fruit, coriander, and grains of paradise beer. Perfect! Another great experience. 100% recommend!
