We searched for nearby mini mart and this one popped up between Costco and our resort. We were looking for water but saw yelp reviews of fried chicken. We wanted to try the 6 piece thigh for $13.99 but they ran out and it would have been another 15 minute wait. Instead we got one thunder thigh ($2.49 each) and three drumstick ($3.99 each) which is more costly because they charge by per piece. They offer three flavors, original, sweet chili, and korean. We stuck with original. It's about 30min drive back to our hotel and it was still crispy! It's like fried multiple times to be crispy and very moist inside. But then again, it's dark meat. For sure the best result is on the first day, second day would need to be warmed up in the oven. The spam musubi was yummy. Good amount of rice portion and the spam was flavorful. Maybe lacking a bit of teriyaki sauce but other than that, food at this minit stop is worth it. They offer rewards card so if you think you'll shop here often, then join their loyalty program.

Who would ever guess that some of the best fried chicken would be found at a gas station? Heard the rumor from several friends and had to try it out. Yes, it's true, all of the food from this little convenience store is awesome. The chicken was ultra crispy and light! You can buy premise bentos, made to order plate lunches and chicken by the piece or box. They also make sandwiches (tuna, ham, veggie and lobster) along with wraps. We tried the lobster croissant, and yes, there was real lobster mixed with imitation... but I know the lobster was real as there was actually a piece of shell! This was sooo yummy! Minit Stop is located right next to the Kona airport. In fact, it is the last gas station before the airport, you can't miss it.... in fact, you shouldn't miss it! It's delicious and an easy to grab before you depart!

    I'm not eating that!!

Came to big island for a little "vacay" from Oahu a few months ago and stayed in Kohala, ate Minit Stop almost every day for a week up there! lol fell in love with it!! Recently I been coming to Kona weekly for work, sometimes staying over night. I been craving the chicken and wedges from here so I went in to grab some for dinner after work. Got back to my room only to find out I was given undercooked chicken :( SUPER BUMMED. I was not about to drive all the way back.. so so so sad!!!! I ordered the 3 piece box (2 thighs, 1 drumstick, and 3 wedges)...only to rip into my chicken and find that 1 thigh and the drumstick were pink inside. To make matters worse, I'm so disappointed in the staff and their response. I called to let them know that my chicken was raw and all the girl had to say was "oh....sorry about that". I told her she should check the rest of the chicken and her reply was "uh okay" and she hung up!

Fried chicken plate to go - took it to the airport and it was quite a delicious treat!

Food, supplies, and gas......not your average gas station! I was initially introduced to Minit Stop in Maui a few years ago and loved the concept of a place where you can pick up food, drinks (water to alcohol)...oh and fill up the gas tank. Now let's be real.....the highlight: fried chicken! For less than $5, you can easily get a few pieces of fried chicken, your choice of wing, thigh etc. For a few more dollars, you can opt for an actual meal with rice and Mac salad. Oooowheeeee *happy dance! Fast forward to present time in Kona when we drove by Minit Stop and I immediately made my husband make this important pit stop. This location did not disappoint.....I ended up coming in twice during my trip on The Big Island. Before returning the rental car, we fueled up and grabbed to go fried chicken plates. Overall, efficient and reliable with pretty great hours!

Tenkatori bills itself as a Japanese style fried chicken, our only other choice in the food court was Mexican (Philippino place wasn't open) so we were open to try. Tenkatori did not disappoint-ordered bento chicken-one was tater tot bento, other was rice and chicken bento, with wasabi and yuzu sauces. Bento came with four softball sized pieces of boneless chicken thighs hot out of the fryer, so fresh and juicy, the juices were literally squirting out between bites. Dipped in the creamy wasabi sauce-great flavor without the head-numbing experience. Yuzu was also creamy, not acidic like lemon, just the real deal. Btw both sauces good with tater tots, but they give you ketchup too. Quite the find, in a quiet marketplace on a stormy Sunday Tenkatori lives up to its ratings. Will be back!

Hesitation was instilled once I realized it was part of a random food court kind of in the middle of nowhere but did not count it out completely. 3. Disregarded as there seemed to be potentially better options out there for our meal choices. 4. Enjoy our other meal option. 5. Per chance, happen to swing by this food court per request of a family member in hopes of grabbing some Malasadas in the bakery nearby afterwards. 6. Realizing that we stumbled into the food court anyways, it was fated that we were meant to proceed with placing an order for some chicken. 7. After a short wait for food to be prepared, I'd confirm that the fried chicken is solid, tater tots were good as well, and the mac salad was just okay.

We liked this place so much, we ate here twice in less than a week!…read more We are always on the hunt for epic veggie burgers. I mean, we have literally had a veggie burger all over the country and Caribbean. You can say it's our thing...except we really didn't plan for it to become our sole mission in life. Alas, here we are, and veggie burgers are tasty, so there are worse missions to have. In any case, Google steared us to this restaurant, and we were happy with the suggestion! The restaurant is very small inside; there are probably 8 tables inside. Just something to keep in mind right at the beginning. You order at the counter, then take a seat should you want to dine-in, and they bring your food to you. My husband and I both did a veggie burger with fries. Service was very quick, which is great when you're so hungry you threaten to eat a chair whilst chewing on your hat. I mean, we've all been there, I'm sure! The fries come with a garlic aioli, and it was very good! The fries themselves were equally good and served nice and hot. The burgers were really good! They weren't super tiny, and the bread choice was a great one. The flavor of the patty was fantastic and didn't taste generic, but it also wasn't full of massive chunks of vegetables like some places do. My husband is super picky at times, and he enjoyed everything...even the garlic aioli, which was super surprising! They have a pretty decent menu for regular burgers too!

I really hope the franchise owner sees this review.... coming from a person who frequents all…read moresubways in Kona , I decided to go to this particular location today. First thing first, the toaster ovens both broken. Could not get my sandwich toasted. Ordered my normal turkey and bacon sub on multigrain x3 for my family. The girl who made my sandwich was piling everything in the middle of the bread instead of spreading it out. I had to ask her to please spread out the veggies . The mayo and mustard was only in the middle too. Both ends of my sandwich was dry. Also the bread was not at all fresh. I perhaps wouldn't have noticed if I got it toasted but I couldn't. The bread was terrible. You could tell it was not fresh and sitting for a while. It was so bad that I searched for mold just in case. When it came to ring me up I made one's meal so I could get a Diet Pepsi. I finished paying and went to make soda and the Diet Pepsi is out. So I tell the girl hey there is no Diet Pepsi. And than she goes yeah it's out right now. So I say well I don't need this drink now because there is no diet. She proceeds to tell me to just grab a bottled drink from the drink cooler. Which I was ok with. Ok so if the owner sees this... first please repair your toaster ovens. You need atleast 1 working. I can't imagine they both broke attach same time. Also please train your sandwich artists to make a sandwich properly. Evenly spread out the condiments and veggies please. I want every bite to taste the same. Please do better on the bread quality. Also please either disclose the soda machine is out of diet. I feel like if the diet is out it is worth mentioning since there in no other diet option besides unsweetened tea.
