KAUAI FARMACY is off the beaten path and I love it. They offer Tea Tasting Events and we couldn't make it to those so I figured we could drive up there to check out the store anyway. Well, the "shop" is actually a small trailer beside their lanai, which they were busy setting up for lunch for their farm workers. How cool was that? I don't think anyone is supposed to be there when there is no Tea Tasting Event, but they were gracious enough to accomodate us and even allowed us to buy tea drinks. Like they made it for us and served it! I might have ruined it for everyone else now though and they will make sure that they are closed outside of the event times. Sorry! The LOVE POTION TEA was weirdly soothing. Felt like I was wrapped in a blanket indoors looking out of a window on a rainy day. The TROPICAL HIBISCUS felt like I was in a tropical island. Oh wait... Anyway, I love how I couldn't really pinpoint the flavors, but the feelings the tea evoked is clear. Tasted, and bought, some honeys too. Interesting take on the honeys. They had spices and nuts so they were more like marmalades that honeys that you could add to your teas. The garden is beautiful. There is limited parking, but it's surrounded by beautiful greeneries, fruits and flowering plants. It was a beautiful outing for sure. read more

This place is quite overpriced with pretty much zero customer service. 1oz of gotu kola for $55 (2oz is $18 at homegrownherbalist.net) and it came in a clear glass bottle rather than the recommended dark amber. Also, I ordered it on May 27th with no response for 7 days, so I called. No answer and the recording states it doesn't take messages. So I sent an email on June 3rd asking them to cancel my order and refund my money. Instead, they sent me an email the next day saying they have shipped my order today, "mahalo". Almost like a sarcastic response. No explanation, apology or even acknowledgment. The order finally arrived on June 10th. Ridiculous. I won't order from them again and I recommend anyone searching for organic, home grown products to try Homegrownherbalist.net. Dr Patrick Jones has lots of yt vids explaining all kinds of herbs and he grows tons of stuff on his property in Idaho. All organic and harvested at the perfect time. He was a veterinarian for 30 years and is also a naturopathic doctor and an herbalist. What a wealth of knowledge! He's very reasonably priced and ships his products out immediately. read more

Idk what they paid the people who wrote the good tour reviews but this was the wildest experience I've had on the island! If you want to experience what it would have been like to live on a hippy commune, then this is the place. My husband and I booked the garden tour/tea tasting via Airbnb. It was definitely not what we were expecting. I'll start with the good and then get into the disappointment. Good: -Beautiful property -Diversity of health products Now for the disappointment... Our tour had no introduction. I literally was handed a nut cracker and told, "Start cracking these." And I had no clue why. I figured out it was for the tasting but the tasting was so unbelievably awkward, unorganized, and honestly uninformative. We would ask questions about how the farm was started, their background in farming, about the healing properties in the teas and no one could answer any questions!? The most info I got was, "The teas are good for you" and "turmeric is anti inflammatory" which are things that we all know by now. So if you're interested in the tour to learn more about those things, then you'll be disappointed. If you want to see a pretty garden and experience spiritualism at its peak, then maybe it's the tour for you. read more

When we read the posting about a lush organic farm that offered tea tastings and walks close to Kilauea we immediately included on our itinerary. However, we wish we had not. When we arrived to the farm at what seemed to be the staff lunchtime. They sat around a long table talking to each other. Those that did look at us did not acknowledge our presence. They were clearly enjoying being together, which was great except it left us feeling like we were intruding even though we there during their business hours. Finally, one woman came over to where we were pursuing the menu. There was no tea tasting but she said she might be able to make us a pot of tea depending on the water situation. (Still no smile or hint of kindness) Since we were there we decided to try the tropical chai - which did not taste tropical nor that much like a chai. The ceramic tea cups were beautiful as was the setting, but the only friendly being on the farm was the dog - a counterbalance to the coldness of his owners. Even when we wanted to pay we had to wait for a while at the cash register before one man got up from the table to take our payment (no smile, no parting pleasantry). The only possibility to walk around the farm was during a guided walk on Thursday. As we felt like we had already inconvenience the staff enough by our presence we decided not to sign up for it nor return to this little exclusionary piece of paradise. read more

The Kauai Farmacy is a lovely place to visit if you live in or are visiting Kauai! We did one of the tea tastings and it was very chill and enjoyable. I learned a lot about the farm's process, benefits of their products, and it was a great way to spend the afternoon! Things to keep doing: - sampling of teas and tinctures - casual and laid back tasting - informative but not overwhelming Things to improve: - when sampling the honeys we were each given one spoon, wasn't very sanitary - I would recommend handing out reusable tasting spoons - label the teas, we had about 3-4 teas on the table and weren't sure what we were drinking - create a menu of what you will taste that day with the benefits of teas/tinctures (would also be nice to have rating cards, so guests can keep track of their favorite to remember what to purchase after - might be nice to have hot warm towels, the tasting got hands on which was super fun but a little messy. Also it seemed the staff ate lunch before the tasting so the table was a little sticky/dirty from that Would recommend visiting and buying their wonderful products! read more

Loved the garden tour. I learned so much and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were all very thoughtful. I would highly recommend. A couple downfalls that are minor, and I would still hands down recommend. - We didn't go over all the products on the table due to time which was a bummer. They were getting ready for lunch and they ate at the table we were sitting at so didn't really have time. - Wish they offered one other day to do tours. I understand though it's a working farm and it takes time away from that. Was just really hoping my husband could have come but we had stayed back with the kids as it's not a kid friendly tour. I would have hands down come back for a second tour the same week with him. They have so much knowledge and would have loved to have learned more. - Receiving a pen and paper to write with or maybe a paper with a guide of what we are trying, the benefits and etc and we could write on that with learnings, that way we had something to reference when purchasing and taking home. read more

My husband and I did the tea tasting while in Kauai. We love tea and I could really taste the quality in this tea. The owner of the farm explained how they started and talked through their process. They allowed us to try as many of their products as possible. We did buy a couple of their teas, but I think their tinctures are truly remarkable. After trying their products, I felt really refreshed. We ended up buying the love potion tea, tranquility tea, and I got the chaste berry tincture for hormone balance. read more

A bit disappointed. It was beautiful, and even though I learned a little bit about the plants/herbs that they use in their products, I felt like I had paid to sit through a sales pitch for their products. As a previous business owner I understand the time and energy that goes in to making and creating a product, but their products, in my opinion were very expensive. I purchased a tin of tea and a tincture. That's two products. It was a little over $60.00, plus the $60 for the tour, was expensive considering what I received. I will not recommend this tour. Also, the jars of honey that they have out for sampling were covered with flies. When we were done, they put the lids (which had also been covered with flies) back on the jars, and I am assuming to be reused for the next tour, since they were 2/3's empty when we arrived. That grossed me out. The people were great, and I love the philosophy behind the products. read more

We stumbled across this place after my wife read an article about it in Sunset magazine. We were in Kauai with our friends and all of us were on some sort of healing journey. Awesome tour! All of their teas are absolutely incredible and they show you the whole process of growing, harvesting and curing everything from seed to your tea cup. Super knowledgeable staff and the owners are super passionate, caring and genuinely healthy people. Very motivating for anyone regardless of experience involving health, gardening and/or nutrition. Motivated my mom, grandma and myself to take our health into our own hands and all of us have since started to plant little herb gardens of our own. I so wanted to enjoy my visit there. We've tried their tea before at a local restaurant. So I knew it was great. But the experience going there totally left me cold. It felt more like we were intruding on the people who were working there and their personal space then we were welcome visitors and paid guests. Not sure what else I can say. Might try again but likely not. With a $12 small pot of tea and the purchase of expensive tea to take home, I expected just a tiny bit of Aloha. We felt as though we got none. The Kauai Farmacy is a must stop for anyone wanting to support their bodies own natural ability to heal. They grow hundreds of medicinal plants and carefully harvest and dry them to make teas, salves, hydrosols and spices. We called ahead and booked a tour which enabled us to sample all of the teas and walk through the garden with an educated guide. What a life changing experience! We found out about this place from another couple at a dinner. They had read an article about them in Sunset magazine. Also Melina, a bartender at the Ukulele Bar at Hanalei Bay Resort, made us an iced tea drink with some of the medicinals in it. I was introduced to Kauai Farmacy tea via a film called Soul Science. I ordered the tea online and have been a fan since. I recently visited Kauai so made an effort to book a tour for myself and family (2 kids under 10 years). We really enjoyed the experience although I would say it isn't really a tour for kids as there is a lot of standing and listening. My kids were getting a bit restless towards the end. Myself and husband really enjoyed listening to the tour guide and learning lots of things about herbs and how they can help restore and heal you. We got to taste some teas and try some honey too. The staff were very friendly and stopped to talk to us and answer questions we had. This is a small, locally / family owned business so expect things to be a bit pricey. We didn't mind paying though because we like to support small, local businesses. read more
