Great little amish grocery store. Good selection of lunch meat, cheese, fruits and veggies. We were able to find nice looking McIntosh apples for a great price. They also farm fresh raw milk. read more

The market is nice. They have a pretty good offering of products, from flours, to jams to their meat market. We bought several pounds of chicken and breakfast sausage, all of it very nice. We baked the chicken and it was delicious as was the breakfast sausage the next day. The market isn't incredibly charming, it's a bit dated and everything has kind of a yellow tint to it, their posters all have fading. No one really greets you when you walk in which, if I owned a storefront I would probably greet customers when they walked in, especially as bird and hand is a touristy area at certain times throughout the year. The market is cute and has some fun products. I'd be happy to return. read more

LOVED this fruit farm farm that we discovered while visiting Pennsylvania Dutch Country in late March, 2024. It was a long narrow shop with only a few aisles, but had products to discover (and buy!) at every step. For instance, it was still winter, but there was a good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables -- AND some delicious apple cider. A large selection of bulk nuts, candies, and other snacks, as well as items for baking (flours). Refrigerated and frozen items, including cheeses and meats. Some traditional Amish treats, including Zook's chicken pies (frozen) and sweet Whoopie pies (ready to eat). And more. The customers appeared to be a mix of locals and tourists -- but it didn't feel touristy except for a very small area in which they sold locally-inspired refrigerator magnets. Don't miss the small display along the front wall with live bees making honey. No worries, the bees are behind glass! Parking was free and sufficient, and there were designated spots for this who arrived by horse and carriage. Prices were competitive. There's a clean restroom. One final note for those RVers out there. Kauffman's participates in Harvest Hosts, with the opportunity for members to camp in their beautiful orchards with reservation. read more

Kauffman's is our favorite quaint grocery store/fruit stand stop when visiting the Lancaster Amish country area. It's filled with typical items you'd want in a small grocery in addition to tons of local produce, honey, snacks, baked goods, and cooking ingredients you probably never think to put on a shopping list. Quaint grocery store full to the brim with local goodies. At least a dozen varieties of fresh apples available in bins outside with a smaller variety in baskets inside. A few varieties of pears and champagne grapes were produce options today. Don't miss the Fresh ground peanut butter combos and almond butter created in house with the option to sample in the aisle. Small crowded aisles with Bulk baking items , grains, spices and candies fill shelves alongside every local Snack product made. Small meat counter, freezer and cold item options. Where else have you seen Ice sold by the block lately?! Amish gal outside creating hot fresh cider donuts, a definite treat! Watch the tourists walking in traffic to cross the road for those donuts! Nice little Amish bulk store from produce meats breads and little things you don't see in your everyday grocery store. It's in a very open area with Amish buggy rides which I will do on my next trip. Lots of open country if you like to go for drives and relax. read more

This was a worth while stop while in and around Lancaster county. They had a large variety of bulk baking good, pantry staples, honey, locally made dairy items and fresh fruits from the orchard, etc... They freshly press cider and you can try a sample to decide if it is worth it (it is!). The prices are better than the touristy stops (like the shops in kitchen kettle village) for comparable items. Staff is friendly and helpful. Word of caution: look carefully at the prepackaged peanut butters that are near the machine where it looks like they were freshly ground - it maybe not be. Some items are not only 100% fresh ground peanuts it has stabilizers and additives so be warned. read more

Kauffman's is a small boutique Amish grocery store. They are know for amazing fresh apple cider, dried bulk goods and local fresh fruits and vegetables. It's definitely a must if you are in the area. Parking can be a little difficult since there is not a lot of parking space. The staff is super friendly and prices are decent for the good quality food! Kauffman's Fruit Farm is a charming old world country store that is family owned. I highly recommend stopping by when in the area and stocking up on some wholesome healthy staples for your pantry! My absolute favorite is their selection of raw all natural honey. They have flavors such as alfalfa, buckwheat, orange blossom, and wildflower. A huge 5lb container is less than $30! Best price for local raw unfiltered honey i've seen. Second favorite stock up item is their fruit butters and jams. With so many different flavors to chose from, my family has a hard time deciding which jams to try next. Our favorite is pineapple, rhubarb, and elderberry. Of course, you can't visit this store without leaving with a few jars of apple butter! Prices here is the best in the area so definitely stock up! In the fall, the apple bargain bins outside store are a great option for stocking up on local apples. Honey crisps this season were delicious and only $8 for 10lbs. Yes you read that right! The also have a decent selection of natural baking spices / flours / nuts / granola which is definitely worth trying out. I loved that they carry kosher versions of natural essences such as vanilla. Many items are sold in bulk, I scored fresh asparagus, bags of all types of noodles, including large wide which boil up fast and taste delicious with browned butter! I bought soup mixes, bulk sea salt, and breakfast link sausages. The place is an old fashioned true grocery store, where local Amish familes buy their food. Try any of Kauffman's fruit spreads! Really rewarding place to stop on any Lancaster trip. Right on Phila Pike, convenient to everything else going on along that route. I've been visiting Lancaster all my life, and though I've had Kauffman's cider many times (sold near me), I never knew there was a destination to visit. So glad we stopped, and this will be a regular destination on future trips. First thing we noticed were the freshly made cider donuts being made and sold ($0.75 each) out front. Husband could not resist free samples on the way in, and buying a donut on the way out (even though we'd just stopped to have Mr. Sticky's sticky buns an hour earlier). He said the freshly-made donuts are everything you would hope they'd be, except not big enough! This perk is probably just a fall season thing, so note that if you're visiting other times of the year. The inside of the store is cramped feeling, but I am not complaining, just the only way to describe it. The building is updated on the outside but older inside, however it's completely clean, and well-organized. I mention that actually because it was a more laid-back feeling inside than I thought it would be, which was nice. We were the oddball tourists among a bunch of locals doing their regular shopping and routine stuff, and we got a couple stares from other customer when we didn't know the drill about filling a bag of apples, or how the line went, etc. Kauffman's is like a small grocery store, with specialty items, fresh baked goods, and of course fresh-from-the-farm produce and fruit. I want to thank a prior Yelper for mentioning the Phillips Lancaster County Swiss Cheese because we tried it and it was GREAT! We actually planned our trip to stop at Kauffman's for lunch just to have the cold cuts. I called ahead to ask if they had rolls for purchase in the grocery section, and they do, but I wanted a nice hoagie roll (like Liscio's or a fresh Amoroso, or Abruzzi's) and I guess those big Philly bakeries don't make it out as far as Lanco to get them there. They just had a supermarket bag of 12 rolls that I could not bring myself to buy. We ate the cold cuts naked and it was fine. We tried "Amish Butter Cheese" which was very good and fresh, but which was very rich for me so I couldn't eat too much. Definitely satisfied my cheese craving (though next time we want to try to Clock Tower Cheese Shop in Gap for more awesome cheese). We also tried a local smoked turkey breast and a local pastrami which were extremely flavorful. We were very happy with it all. I was surprised at all the organic goods Kauffman's stocks. And shelves and shelves of dried rices, peas, beans, etc. which were more plentiful than Miller's nearby, who specializes in organics. Of course Kauffman's had Kauffman's cider, which was a few bucks cheaper than the mark-up we pay closer to the city. Husband got a bunch of Winesap apples, which they call "Staymans" which I think is funny because the proper name is "Staymen Winsesap" and I worked at two farm markets as a teen and both called them Winesaps, so I don't know if that was just my experience or if the name varies according to what county you're in. All in all a really redeeming stop for a Lancaster trip. Check out the huge tree stump chainsaw-carved apple out by the sign, very cool. read more

Then by all means, go into the densely packed store and grab some of the best fresh fruit in the entire region. Kauffmans is always stocked full of the fruits of Amish labor (quite literally). I love this place. You need to watch your prices but this place has the best fruit around the area since it goes straight from local growers to the market. Might I add, this is where the local Amish families shop for their own groceries. The other star attraction at this location is their deli. This shop carries Phillips Lancaster County Swiss Cheese. It is the best swiss cheese you will ever have in your life. The swiss cheese is made in nearby Gordonville but they only sell it wholesale to other food sellers. THE BEST SWISS CHEESE EVER!! They also have wonderful prices on bleu cheese crumbles, fresh deli ham, etc. If you live locally, I would totally recommend this place as your last stop in Intercourse so you can drive home to the refrigerator. read more

If you're a food lover, this is a definite stop while you're in Lancaster. Fresh produce, homemade jams and butters, a beehive in the store, fresh baked goods, local meats and cheese, lots of bulk items like spices and baker supplies. My favorite purchases were the cinnamon honey butter (to die for, melt in your mouth, naturally low in fat and cals, I mean come on...), pumpkin butter, and bulk spices (organic cinnamon for less than $3!!). The prices were also very reasonable. I got a LOT of stuff, not just for me, but several bulk good items for my baker friend and I spent less than $50. The staff there were also pleasant and helpful. My only disappointment was that I hadn't thought to bring a cooler because I would have hit up that meat and cheese section hard.
