An excellent asset the citizens of Kaukauna should be proud to call their own. So many communities "wish" to have an aquatic play area, but are unable to make it happen in today's political climate. Kudos to government officials for making the investment in community recreation. A zero entry area for toddlers, a mid size water slide for the preteens and diving boards of three different heights. Entry is a very affordable $3 for adults & $2 for students. Plenty of seating for the parents to soak up the summer sun. The pool also offers very reasonably priced concessions. read more

For the price of entrance and the concessions, you definitely cannot go wrong. The pool was clean and had a place for every one of all ages. Menu again was affordable and lots of options. The only thing that was kind of frustrating was when ordering/waiting for our food. You order and then just wait for your food and at times others were also waiting for their food and employees didn't know who ordered what so asked everyone in the pick up area what they ordered multiple times. Maybe implementing a ticketing system would be helpful and calling out the number when an order is ready would make it a lot smoother. read more

They also have a great little sand pit for kids to play in when they get tired of swimming. Only complaint is the snack bar could offer a larger variety of foods. Also wish they had a longer season as they close in August. Im sure that is because most of their lifeguards head back to college then.

The real attraction here is the walk on the north Manitowoc jetty. On your way to the lighthouse you will come upon a water impoundment that can be rife with shore birds. A little further on is the Paws and Play dog park. Beyond is the walk to the lighthouse. If it is windy and the surf is up you might skip the lighthouse walk because you'll get wet or worse. All in all a nice area to spend a couple of hours. Bring your binoculars and snacks. On a sunny day this can be a great day in the making. On a cold, rainy day, not so much. People in Manitowoc are usually friendly. Take the time to chat, you might make a new friend.

By the time I got there, my family had mostly set up the area, but there were several picnic tables and lots of space for our own lawn chairs as well as setting up some lawn games to play. The park is generously sized and has several large parking lots. There are playgrounds and, the main draw for many, is the beach area. Swimming was free and the sandy area was kept fairly tidy. There were lifeguards on duty, both on shore and at the raft with the slide and diving boards. You must be able to swim out there on your own and demonstrate a basic ability to stay afloat, in order to dive and whatnot. The water is a Wisconsin lake, so expect some algae and seaweed and even some fish. It is nature. Don't expect pristine-ness. I don't know when or if I will ever be back, but this is a nice park with a lot to offer .
