I went in to have my watch battery replaced on a watch that I had never worn before. The guy took my watch and attempted to screw the back off because it had the groves that implied that procedure. After a few failed attempts I spoke up and informed him that a guy at a battery store said they couldn't do it because it was a pop off one (something about the dome glass breaking when it's put back together). So then the Kay jeweler popped off the back and replaced the battery. He gives it back to me and rings me up. I look at the watch and there's multiple scratches on the back plate. I told him that he scratched my watch. Meanwhile the manager is a few feet away and hears the whole conversation. The employee then looks at my watch and says, "I may have made this scratch but that other one was already there. Sorry about that if I did scratch it." Keep in mind that I have never worn this watch and there were no scratches when I took it to him. So he still charged me and the manager didn't speak up or anything. So I paid and walked out. It's not that he scratched it (everyone makes mistakes), it's that the manager didn't step in to resolve it or offer anything to fix my situation and that the employee didn't own his whole mistake. My fiancé got my engagement ring through Kay jewelers. My diamonds always are lose (even though I'm very careful with my ring). The main thing is during transit from the store to the warehouse to fix a lose stone MY RING WAS LOST. My ring was sent once to get the stone fixed. It was then returned to the store and the stone was still lose so it got shipped back to the warehouse. During the trip back to the warehouse my ring was lost. I'm just not a fan of this particular location, and you can thank the manager, Connie for that. In my past life, I had a real engagement turned into wedding ring set. I'm hard on my jewelry, so I requested they drop the basket. Ticket filled out, sent to the jewelry gods and it came back worse. Now I get this store doesn't actually DO the soldering - however, I DO expect some quality control before I take time out of my day, to pick a worse product than I had given. It took them FOUR tries to get it right, to make sure the diamond lined up and the basket was straight on; rather tilted. Connie either didn't want to be there, work here, or something but as if any of the store errors were MY errors. I'm spending a substantial amount of money and I demand darn near perfection. For what ever reason, she'd never let me have another Kay's help; it HAD to be done out of this store. I find out later from the manager at the Oak View one, that that's untrue; and Connie is just an unhappy person. read more

I stopped using Yelp over a year ago after they continued to pull my reviews without providing a clear understanding as to how the review failed to meet their guidelines. I'm sick of fighting with Yelp so I now post reviews on Google Reviews. With that said, I had to dust off my Yelp username and password to write a review on an experience I just had in Kay Jewelry. I don't know why people with shitty attitudes choose to work in customer service, but I just encountered several people at this store that should choose another job. First of all, no one greeted me when I entered the store with my son. To top it all off, when I approached the jewelry counter, the woman closest to me never offered assistance. Instead, she stared at me, and I stared back at her. Finally, and after an awkward silence, she got the message and asked if she could help. Her idea of help was very lackluster; she obviously had better things to do. Then there was the store manager (i suppose) with the unshaven face and wrinkly suit that was obviously too big, hovering around the lady and me as if he was about to thwart a grande scheme that included me shoving jewelry into my son's coat pockets. You would think he would have greeted me since he walked over and started touching items on the counter that I had decided to purchase. Nope, he just wanted me to know he had his eye on me. The entire experience was bizarre so I left without making the purchase. BTW - I was wearing a $10,000 watch. My point is why, of all places, would i choose Kay Jewelry to shoplift?! Idiots! I stopped in at Kays in Papillion and Vince was able to size it for me at a very reasonable price and quickly as well. Very nice and considerate man as well as the other young man who assisted me. I've been a frequent customer to the Kay in Papillion since 2012 when I got engaged. Since then I have had nothing but issues with my wedding ring. Since our wedding I have upgraded my diamond in my ring to a bigger one and the diamond has fallen out twice now. Once this past July and now this April. Which I don't understand why I'm having this issue since I don't frequently wear my ring. I took my ring in on April 30th to see what they could do for me. Since I was 3 months past the 6 month inspection date they said more than likely I would have to at least pay half for the diamond to be replaced and they would send it to the home office to have an inspection done to see why it's doing that and to get an estimate. So I left my ring there to send into the home office. Meanwhile the two girls helping me (Sierra and Desiree) said their manager had just gotten back from vacation and she would give me a call in the next couple of days to let me know what's going to be happening. Almost two weeks later I've heard nothing back from the manager about what's going on with my ring so I decided to call and ask about it. I called and the girl who answered the phone told me my ring wouldn't be coming back until July 2nd and she doesn't know what is going on with it or why it's going to take so long. Also didn't offer to check in with the manager to see if she knew anything. Her answer was just "we don't know". I got a call yesterday from Sierra that my ring was in and had been repaired and that there was a cost. My husband called back and spoke to Connie (the manager) to let her know that we didn't give them the okay to fix the ring and that they were supposed to be getting us an estimate and letting us know what was going on (which obviously nobody had any idea what was going on). My husband also asked if they figured out the problem as to why the diamond had been falling out because why would we put more money into a ring that keeps falling apart. Her response was " I don't know if you want we can just send it back to the home office and they can take it back apart." So we ended up just paying for the ring even though we didn't give the okay, but I'd rather not send it back and not have any idea when I'm getting it back. I appreciate everything Sierra and Desiree did to try and help me. Either one of them would be a better fit as manager than Connie. read more

I was looking at the other jewelry there and inquiring about earrings for my daughter. The man who was working with me asked if I wanted to join a rewards program that would offer me some discounts in the mail to bring back to use on a purchase of earrings for her. I agreed as many stores offer this kind of thing and I use them quite frequently. It turns out he signed me up for a credit card. An unsolicited credit card. I'm absolutely livid. This was the most sleezy, dishonest practice I've ever been subject to as a consumer. I hope they work on commission as I will never purchase anything from this employee. read more

He showed me some very nice pieces of jewelry and explained the payment options along with the Kay's preferred card. This was such a nice, clean, no pressure store. Completely unsatisfied with the whole experience at Kay's from the quality of workmanship to the customer service in the store. Both rings were sent out to get repaired (my Fiance's re-sized, and mine sautered) and came back in worse condition that they left in, they came back dented, scratched and scuffed, the sauter job on my ring is horrible, it has huge uneven gaps when it should be sealed and it has two large bumps on the bottom of the ring. My Fiance's ring came back with a diamond missing! The rings were dropped off 2 months before we leave to get married, and now have to be sent back for repairs that were caused by the jewelry repair person and we have no guarantee that we will have these back in time for when we leave out of town for our wedding. We are extremely dissatisfied with the customer service in store from who I think was the manager, we voiced our dissatisfaction with the damages to our rings, and how unhappy we are to make several trips back to the store, because it is not a close drive, she rolled her eyes several times and was unapologetic, she only said "this happens more time than you'd think". I'm a very understanding person, but this is completely ridiculous, and if I knew this was going to be such a nightmare I would've never purchased through this company. The store manager, Connie, is so rude. She has very poor people skills and should not work with people period. She was completely disrespectful. We walked into the store to take back a ring we bought online and buy another in store to replace it. Instead they exchanged the rings which didn't seem like a big deal in hindsight. We exchanged the rings, in which Connie was very rude about. Not sure why she had such a problem with it. And I'm also not sure why the girl who helped me with the second ring couldn't figure it out on her own. They informed us it would be a $20 resizing charge for the new ring. At that point we said no thank you, we can order it online for free. Then Connie said they would do the re sizing for free if we bought it in store. So we said okay fine. After we left the store we saw that they just took $20 off the ring and still charged us to re size the ring. Not that big of a deal but she lied to us. And if I didn't end up liking the ring I would have lost the $20 if I went to return it. So my husband went back in the same day and confronted Connie about it and told her we just wanted a refund because she lied and was rude about it when he confronted her. They refunded the ring but not the sales tax. That makes no sense. So we returned two brand new rings and lost the sales tax on one. And connies response was I don't know what happened. Not "I'll fix it", not "I don't know what happened but I'll call someone", just sorry have a nice day. And she really expected us to leave the store $21 short of what we came in with. The whole situation seemed like a computer issue but Connie was just terrible the whole time. Very snotty. Even rude to the girl who worked there that asked her for help. Never again will I buy jewelry from them. And I buy all my jewelry there. It's a shame I have a lifetime warranty on my wedding ring and have to take it there.
