However, when things get lopsided and the opposition has unlimited funds to fight you (right or wrong), i resorted to Google for legal help. Being a minister, among other professions, I believe that I am a pretty good judge of character, so when I came across Schweitzer Law Partners and called for an appointment, I felt good about Don Schweitzer. He genuinely was interested in my case, but warned me from the start that it was going to be a process and he promised to advise me about California Family Law and how the law could affect my case. He said he would guide me for my best interest whether I liked what he was saying or not. He originally introduced me to his partner Casey Marticorena who helped me with the first separation phase of my case. She was great, thank you Casey. Then Don and Stephanie Trabanino became my confidants and guiding force for over three more years while the opposition tried to out-lawyer and bury me with legal trickery. Don, Stephanie, and Paralegal Marlene Guzman were so helpful and didn't waste a minute of time while helping to protect me legally, and were very supportive of me emotionally. After five plus agonizing years the entire Schweitzer Law Partner's team was involved. After several Depositions, meetings in the "War Room", and mounds of discovery, with hours of phone calls we developed a plan to prove my case. Receptionist Faby Guzman was kind, always recognized my voice, and made sure I kept my appointments, and received my correspondence. Loxi Wyndle kept me on track with my Trust Account, and was so helpful and worked so hard to keep me on track without a hassle Don and Stephanie's legal advice was "right on". Unfortunately, California Family Law is not very sympathetic towards infidelity or emotional marital issues, even with children. All I wanted was to protect my 3 sons from the grief, and we did. In the end, I was satisfied with the outcome, and we proved my case to be a win emotionally and financially within the California Law. My case was settled out of court. But, I'll be back for help if needed. Otherwise, God will pass judgement when the day comes. They dragged on a very simple divorce and it cost me thousands of dollars for nickel and dime things. They also increased rates in the middle of my case that I did not agree to. Jessica Feng was horrible and made several mistakes and charged me for her and her assistant to redo them. She also charged ME for 'double checking' items that she had assigned to her assistant... Not…read moreonly did they prove to be totally incompetent and unresponsive by not answering emails to opposition for weeks on end, they ultimately cost me thousands more in damages (by opposition) and excess trouble by abandoning my case which was extremely time sensitive (active construction). Moreover, the firm changed their own legal strategy on the case after one week, versus the agreed upon strategies and recommended action during initial consultation. Hesitant at first, I agreed, however things got progressively worse week in and week out, often hunting down counsel who had a lot of personal excuses as to why he didn't perform. He even put in writing that it was "not my concern" but it's the best he could offer. I was patient the first few excuses, but it became habitual and very embarrassing when opposition was writing emails asking "what happened to my attorney?" Finally, opposition came knocking on my door to get some response since my attorney was MIA! I ultimately had to write emails to opposition and make excuses for counsel as to why he was not responding or doing what he promised. Yes, I was covering and answering on behalf of my attorney! My case was routinely bumped even with sizable retainer in the firm. Due to counsel's changes, non-response and inaction, I watched in horror as my home was being destroyed. The ultimate insult was actually billing me for services they did not render, knowing I was harmed more in the process. Interestingly enough, I went to two other law firms (knew GT well) who asked me a series of questions inquiring as to "why didn't [your] attorney perform certain actions?" Also confirming, "protective measures could have been put in place, while new strategies were being worked on." They provided solid information and remedies on how Garrett & Tully could have performed differently in order "to protect their client" while under contract. The law firm's responsibility first and foremost is to zealously act on behalf of the client. Bottom line, Garrett & Tully did not perform to the best of their ability or in the best interest of their client. Repeated excuses, in writing no less! The question I keep asking... how does Garrett & Tully profit from taking advantage of their clients -- especially a senior woman? Clearly, no golden rules with Garrett & Tully.
