This place used to be fairly decent, but now I'm not so sure. I ordered a simple salad with ginger dressing. It was the worst ginger dressing I've ever had in my life then all cats are done, which is a bowl of rice topped with fried pork chop and supposedly a fried egg. The egg was definitely not fried. It was scrambled and way overcooked. The pork chop itself wasn't bad that the sauce was very, very sweet and it ruined the entire dish. I won't be back to order either. read more

Unfortunately, I have noticed the quality of my favorite sushi place going down a lot recently. The last 2 times I got fresh sushi there I noticed it. The other more processed rolls may be better, but my tuna and salmon roll were completely flavorless both times except for a weird wood/hay flavor that the soy sauce packets now have. The rice was actually completely flavorless also. I noticed they also started using the unnaturally dark tuna that indicates CO2 gassing. I know my friends still like the things they order here and I might if I didn't try to order something super fresh. Hopefully this is just a bad time and it'll get better. read more

The worst I've ever had anywhere. I went for a late lunch. I ordered salmon with avocado & cucumber sushi, and eel nigiri. The salmon was by no means fresh. The color was off and the pieces were not small, they were tiny. The rice seemed like it was days old and not properly refreshed. It was dry and the texture was way off. Some grains were down right hard. I've never been served rice like that anywhere. The avocado and cucumber were fresh. The eel was cold and dry. Not fresh. I ate only a few pieces and left the rest. Maybe it was just a bad day on their part but it was disgusting. I definitely won't return. read more

Celebrated a family event at Kazoku Sushi in Covington tonight and enjoyed their Asian fusion cuisine. Kazoku has a svelte contemporary persona and service was welcoming and efficient. We shared a half dozen various sushi rolls, including California, Rainbow, Burning Man, and Chop Chop rolls. All were good. Ginger salad dressing did not taste like anything, which was weird - everyone tasted it to be sure, must've been a fluke or one-time thing though, since everything else was delicious. Listen up if you've been to Kazoku before & you're expecting the same experience. #1) the renovation looks great. the place is larger, and it's very comfy #2) you no longer get a bowl of soup or salad at the beginning of your meal, you'll need to pay for that #3) you don't get a nice warm towely to clean yourself up with and feel all warm and gushy #4) the price on every roll, every ITEM has gone UP UP.... #5) more items....meh I just simply could no longer enjoy the food there after the changes to the prices & all. The Sake selection is the best on the Northshore. Good thing they don't offer a credit card with their business cause it would be maxed out on my end. The staff are always super nice and helpful. They are also great at giving recommendations for anyone's specific taste. I order from here at least once every other week. Don't sleep on that peanut sauce either. Arrived close to 7 on a Sunday night and it was not busy. We were sat immediately but after waiting over 10 min for anyone to come ask for our drink order we decide to leave. Kazoku is a great little sushi restaurant located on Hwy 59 near the Donut King. This place has amazing sushi. Their rolls are priced between $4.95 and $11.00 or so. The ingredients were fresh and obviously high quality. I tried a dynamite roll, spicy tuna and salmon tempura roll. The spicy tuna roll was my favorite. The tuna was so fresh and clean tasting (if this makes sense). This may have been the best sushi I have tried so far. I had heard great things about their tempura (fried) cheesecake. I didn't care for it, but the rest of the table devoured it in seconds. The servers were very friendly, but as the restaurant got crowded the service suffered. It took far to long to get our bill, but they had gotten crowded. Our table ordered six rolls which was enough for three people. The bill was only $33. They do have a special deal where selected rolls are two for $7.99 which is really a great deal. They do have kids meals on the menu. I believe they have a choice of tempura chicken or shrimp and it comes with steamed or fried rice. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

One of my favorite meals would be the sushi bowls. Usually I get the Erica bowl without rice and the Tuna Tataki, but today I opted for the Monster Bowl sans crab sticks and rice for a more Keto-friendly approach. Several flavors of fresh, bite-sized fish on a bed of lettuce were a glimpse of Heaven for this hungry gal! Highly recommended! Have never had a bad meal here in the past six or seven years! 9.4.2020 the eve of Sully's golden birthday, I ate here for the 1st time with Sara & Sully. It was a Friday nite, in a pandemic. The place was super clean, social distancing in action. The menu was large. Sara suggested the crab Rangoon which was delicious. And the spicy tuna appetizer, which was also amazing. Torn between two rolls- the black and gold or the Kazoku roll, I went with our server's choice of the roll by the restaurant name. It was good but very big. We had leftovers.
