Karla is one of the most unresponsive business owners I have ever encountered. I know she is or was a NICU nurse as well so her plates full but I didn't expect she would completely ignore me. She did the newborn photos of my first child with virtually no hiccups and second time around I tried to book with her and she took a week to reply initially and now I followed up and she still has not replied to book me. Too late now baby is coming next week so I will not be using her again. Unfortunate because her work is great and her gentle demeanor was sweet. read more

I randomly found Karla through an instagram sponsored ad while searching for someone to take my newborns photos. My interaction with Karla initially was great, even our session went great. Before leaving session, she told me I can expect my proofs in 7-10 days.. on day 11 I emailed her, day 12, day 13 and so on, with no response with an update. Eventually after me bothering her, she emails me back a screenshot she had posted on her Facebook (which I do not follow) saying she would be out until 8/21 due to a family emergency. Which is totally understandable, although I had to bug her for that response. If I hadn't would she have ever reached out to me as the client? Who knows. 8/21 rolls by and no response. I let her know how sorry I was about her situation and hope everything is okay. I let about a week go by and im not getting any response. I'm emailing her almost daily with no word. Finally she sends another email that her family member is in critical condition and it's out of her control. Which once again, I understand and can have sympathy for that but her lack of communication as a business owner to a client was absolutely horrible and making me bitter. I let time pass again to allow her time to "work on my photos" and after a while I thought to reach out again, at this point my daughter is already over a month old and still no proofs and no update. I reach back out for updates and again I'm having to bug her for any response back. She comes back to tell me I have 2 options, 1. Wait for her to finish my proofs when she has time for it and has no ETA on when they will be ready and I get ONE free photo or 2. Cancel and get a full refund.... Both options to me were absolutely ridiculous. I can't retake my newborns photos so what choice did I have right? I basically begged her to send me what she had unedited and I'd find someone to edit them because she clearly could not fulfill her job. She refused and said it was not an option. When all was said and done I ended up wanting a total of 10 photos. 8 free and one bonus one for the delay. I asked if the 10th photo could also be free for the delay and again she refused and told me she had x amount of clients and was behind on all these other galleries like it was my problem. I thought maybe just maybe she could have some compassion and realize giving another free photo wasn't too much sweat off her back. Her contract states that proofs will be given within 7-14 business days and final photos within 10-28 business days. It took 27 business days for proofs and another 12 business days for final photos. My newborn took her photos oct 2nd I got my proofs on Nov 9th!!!!! My final photos on Nov 21st. Just a day before my daughter turned 2 months. I hope she reads this and does better at communicating with her clients because this experience was extremely disappointing with how it was handled on her end from a client perspective. Please do better The photos... beautiful. Her work is amazing and I give her kudos for that. But her lack of communication and compassion ruined the experience and excitement I had for my first child's photos. read more

Karla was busy just before Christmas but was able to give us a session when our newborn is 3 weeks old. My newborn was unusually awake during the photo session and Karla put extra effort to calm & sooth the baby. As a mother of five herself, she is a pro in terms of handling the baby, how to wrap, and how to calm the baby to get to positions desired for pics. I was looking for a good photographer for my Newborn baby pics. And came across Karla on Instagram. I messaged her and she got back to me pretty quickly and sent me a link to her website. I checked it out and realized she had great prices. I had checked out other places ans they were way too pricey. The baby's photo shoot took place in her home studio in Livermore. She had a great setup with lots of little wraps and outfits. The room was kept very warm as the baby's get photographed in mostly nothing but their diaper. And she got to work right away. The shoot was about an hour and she was so gentle and patient and sweet with my baby boy. It was a great experience. So if you're looking for a great photographer with decent prices for you're maternity/ newborn pics. Karla is the way to go! read more

I felt so lucky that I found KC Images photography, since the moment I saw website and I read all the instructions on how to get prepared for the photoshoot, that really caught my attention, I immediately knew that I had found the right person to take the pictures for my baby. Karla definitely knows how to work with babies, she is a professional! I didn't have to worry about calming my baby for the pictures, because she did it all, she was very gentle and always made my baby feel so warm and comfortable. The studio was very clean and all sanitized, with a variety of colors to choose from for the backgrounds. Karla was very accomodating! She was very patient with our tiny fussy baby. She made sure that we had plenty of time to feed and diaper change our baby beforehand so he can be comfortable during the shoot. You can tell how long she's been doing the job as she knows the best angles and setups for your baby. Can't wait to see our pictures which I'm sure are fantastic! read more

Update: I have three children, and Karla photographed the newborn photos for my first two. She is a great photographer and the photos turned out beautifully for both. Things went well for my first child back in 2014 when I first wrote a review. For the second child born in 2016, Karla took an extremely long time to return the retouched digital photos. I tried contacting her several times to inquire about when the photos would be ready and many of my emails and phone calls were completely ignored. By the time I had gotten the photos, my child was 3 months old. For my third child, I began contacting Karla late into my pregnancy which was my fault, but she did not respond to any of my messages which is an unusual way to treat a customer returning for a third time. Finally when I heard back, she said she was on maternity leave, but there was no automatic message informing me of this, nor any indication of this on her website. When she finally got back to me, we agreed a time to communicate once she was done with her maternity leave. I contacted her at that time and it took forever and multiple messages for her to respond even then. She suggested a date twice for a newborn session, but then she would not follow up to confirm a time. She does not respond to emails, phone calls, text messages, or messenger chats. Finally, three weeks after my child was born, I found another photographer who could accept an appointment with me at the last minute. I completely missed that two-week window ideal for newborn photos. I am so disappointed with how I was treated by Karla. I would have been a three time returning customer with plans for more family sessions in the future, but I will not be using her again. read more

HIGHLY recommended! KC Images is reasonably priced, professional, friendly, and has a quick turn around time for editing. Karla instantly puts her clients at ease with her welcoming demeanor. Her shots during a session show a lot of variety and creativity. She even brought extra props to our maternity session to give us more options. You can tell she loves what she does and takes pride in her work. I was so pleased with her work that I've already booked her to do my newborn photos after the baby is born. I picked Karla to do my baby's newborn pictures because of the quality I saw in her photos which is why I give her stars to begin with. The pictures turned out great! However, there are two things I REALLY encourage others to consider. 1. Her impatience 2. Her lagging of getting the end product to you. During the entire photoshoot, I felt like she was getting impatient with my "not sleeping" baby. She kept rocking and rocking and rocking and rocking...! That doesn't work for every baby! She has a lot of props to use during the shoots, but some of the material she used to lay my baby on (with only a diaper) was not soft. My baby was red after the shoot with just that one setting. (I.e the basket with twigs poking out!!!) I did not receive my baby announcement until my baby was 3 months old!!!! I did my own announcement because she took her sweet time. When I asked she said they got sent back because of a wrong address someone sent it to. Yet, the package showed no such evidence. My grandmother in law passed away when my baby was 2.5 months old. It would have been nice to give out the announcement to everyone fro far far away (New Zealand, India, England) at that time. All in all not professional. I was just another fish in the pond to her.... We picked the $350 package, paid upfront 2 weeks before the shoot!. And paid extra for a weekend shoot. read more

I'm so in love with my daughters newborn photos! Karla was absolutely great with her and produced beautiful, creative photos in a very timely manner! Her travel to home service is worth the charge. She brings everything needed to capture precious shots of your baby and you never have to leave your home. Definitely using her again in the future. read more

BEWARE!! I do not recommend this person at all!! I'm a first time mother and she pretty much left me hanging for a month. I scheduled a cake smash session with her for early January and two days before the date, she canceled on me. After that day, I was messaging her for about a week to get a new date. Once I did receive the new date, I messaged her a few days before to get a confirmation and she didn't text me until a 1 day before in the evening time. Since, I could never get in contact with her, she never contacted me to bring my vision to lifee. She pretty much did her own thing and background setting. On the day of the session, she had a pretty simple standard set up it was nice but not my vision. I was like whatever it's ok for my little girl I guess but not the wow I was looking for. The turn around time was fast but the quality of her work was horrible. She emailed me my pictures and they were sooooo dark, I was so mad. She said it was my end, I'm like no is not. I tried many devices and also tried a printing and it was dark. I then contacted her and said, I do not like these please brighten them. This time the turn around time was forever until I was fed up and sent her a long message expressing my frustration to her. A day later after that message she sent the pictures to me and to be honest it was still horrible work!! She not bright for my taste. So save yourself your money and go check out a real professional. Oh take note, she also charges $20 for additional picture with touch ups which I was likee whaaaat. I know I know why didn't I go somewhere else? I was in the middle of a birthday party plannIng so I didn't bother to do look due to all the stress. Don't book with her...never ever in your life. read more

Saw her on yelp and thought we'd give her a try for my daughters 1st birthday cake smash since her photos looked really nice. She didnt take as many different poses as I would have hoped. She seemed to have a lot of props, but took awhile to find things since it just seemed all over the place. At the end of the shoot seemed a little irritated with the mess the cake smash had made in the public bathroom - where else would you like me to clean my daughter that is covered in frosting? Of course it was going to make a mess. Took 2 weeks to receive the proofs which was okay because she had mentioned that. Got the profs, but a lot of the poses she did werent even there! After we chose the photos we waited for a link, 2 weeks passed and i decided to text her and see where the photos were - she said she had already sent the download link, but i checked everywhere in my email.. spam, trash folders, but nowhere! I kept asking her to resend the link since i NEVER received it.. a lot of back and forth about how she has confirmation she sent it and she doesnt cant trust that i didnt receive it, etc etc. Basically made me pay the $20 fee to resend the link. MY suggestion: if you want to keep getting business, dont nickle and dime people like this especially when they never received the link in the first place.I usually wont pick a fight around 20 bucks but i just got annoyed of how she wouldnt give the photos without the $20. Obviously I wanted the photos that I had already paid for. All in all, I dont think we'll be using her again. read more

She promises what she cannot deliver... And conveniently loses images before delivery. Karla allows her own personal opinions get in the way of providing her clients quality work. Do not hire her if you expect her to follow through. You just might find that she'll delete your images as she's done mine. I never received my images and I cannot get them from her to safe my life. I'll never be able to replace the photos for my important event - she stole my memories from my family and I! Her lame excuse involved her personal opinion in regards to my family! Karla from KC Images is AWESOME!!!. We drove an hour from San Francisco and she was so worth the drive. Her eye to capture these precious moments are amazing. She is very professional, patient, personable, and definitely has a way with babies and toddlers. Her packages are also very reasonably priced. Horrible follow-up and communication skills for a business owner. After spending many hours looking into various Bay area newborn photographers, I came across KC Images and loved her photos. I reached out via social media to review her offerings and decided to book her. When I reached out to schedule a date and to pay the deposit, it would take days to respond and eventually she would respond saying she would send the information later that day or the next. Several days later, nothing. Again, I would send follow up messages letting her know I was still waiting for the info. Days later, I'd get the same response, "I'll send the info later today." At first, I thought she'd maybe gotten busy and forgot but after 3 times, I realized that she was giving me the run-around. I still have yet to receive the booking information from her. It's a very strange way to run a business. If you don't actually want clients, close up shop! read more
