"The Church by the Sea" is an open air church built in 1853, and was the first in all of Hawaii to have a Hawaiian ordained minister. Strangely this seems to be a quiet feature; I found the commemorating plaque hidden behind some half-alive potted plants. There's a small cemetery, and a simple but charming outdoor walk for the 14 Stations of the Cross. It's quiet, green and contemplative. Might be a nice place to attend a morning service, in the splendour of Creation. Certainly better than any crazy megachurch that looks more like a gaudy car dealership than a place of worship.

The guided tour was on point with where I was on the highway. It played melodies and instructed turns and upcoming paths. Driving this highway was pretty difficult because there were narrow turns and everything was just narrow. Any slight mishap can land you down the ocean. The breathtaking part about this highway were the trees! I love the trees so damn much that I had all windows rolling down. There were mango and eucalyptus trees everywhere. I smelled mangoes and eucalyptus the whole time. The eucalyptus trees were a good refresher and awakening call! They also purified my car and got rid of any food odors from meals I had in the car! Thankfully they acted as a perfume and air freshener! The whole car ended up smelling like eucalyptus! Luckily these eucalyptus trees were everywhere in Maui! The whole ocean was all around the highway! The ocean water skep sparkling from the sun! The highway was very flat and not much hills. There were some parts of the highway that felt like I was driving on the ocean. There were people surfing. There were some points on the highway that allow you to go into the ocean and just take a swim or dive. I did stop in the middle of the highway to snorkel. There were so many colorful fish as you go down and deeper into the ocean. Very beautiful fish. The beach was also save because I left my belongings on the branches of a nearby tree and nobody stole it even though there were people chilling on the beach.

It's a steep walk down which can be dangerous especially when it's wet. We were trying to find a place to park but all the closest areas had either no parking signs or cones. The closest parking area was a long walk away and at that point we weren't willing to park and walk down just to catch the waterfalls for a couple minutes. It is nice but the lack of parking makes it a hard place to stop.

THE FACILITIES: The main hall is 8,000 sf and fully air conditioned. It's a wide open room with high open-beam ceilings, LED lighting, fans, a good sized stage, full kitchen, conference room, dressing room, and an open-air patio. Max capacity is 464. Restrooms were clean. The only downfall is the parking lot which is small, but they have overflow parking across the street at Maui Waena Intermediate School. Though the sign states "Filipino Community Center" it's open to all, lol. I've been here only a handful of times and like it because its close to home and newer than neighboring Kahului Community Center. FACT: This is the new home of the Barrio Fiesta that happens every May, moving from the War Memorial field after many years.

It's an historic building, designed by Maui-born architect CW Dickey, and opened in August 1929. It was the first public library in Maui County, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Inside you'll find a great selection of books in all genres, with varying displays of selected works that relate to current events or celebrations, and a staff of friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful librarians eager to help you get the most out of your library experience. There are adult and keiki reading rooms, a rack of books for sale (proceeds benefit the library), magazines, and much more. New automated checkout stations are super convenient and easy to use and offer you the choice of printed or emailed receipt for checked out items. As with all branches of the state library system, you can use their app to request and place holds on items and pick them up here (or any other location). The app also lets you see your due dates for checked out items, renew any if needed, and see where you are in line for items you've requested. The Wailuku library may not be physically huge, but it's definitely punching above its weight and providing great service to the community.

I've driven by a million gazillion times and today was the first time I've ever been inside. It clearly is historic and what a gem. Parking is on the street or in the County parking lot across the street. There is a crosswalk and a ramp in the back for handicapped and strollers. I have fond memories of going to my local hometown library as a child so I hope to do the same for my little blessing. The librarians and everyone were so nice. There is also a little one floor elevator to get down to the keiki area. I love that they have their own space. It is super cute. I can see so many more trips in the future with my little one. Not the fanciest library but still wonderful and for someone who loves books like me, it is one of my happy places.

We were in Maui after the whales had left but still it was very informative. Note due to the severe flooding in Kihei in February they were still doing repairs so the only way to approach it was from the south side. Docents were very kind and well informed.
