We walked in around 4:15pm, and found an open private booth which was cool. The entire space is classy and I'd like to sit in the leather chairs in the back room next time. The drinks were good- a Carajillo and special "love potion". The booth had the ability to control our music volume which we enjoyed. The only hiccup is the menu said to "hit the button in your booth to order", we couldn't find the button. After waiting quite a while our waitress hadn't come back, so I went to find her and put our drinks in. She explained the booths no longer have buttons. No big deal, but we should have been approached sooner for our drink order versus having to go find her. All in all we still enjoyed our experience and will return.

The hall was big on the inside and was great for our cousin's large wedding. Ambiance: The Lightning was intimate and perfect for dancing the night away. The food is catered by an outside vendor. Overall, as a guest it was a nice location. We had a lovely night but a little chaotic getting in as two receptions starting at the same time. Good as a guest but found the sound system placement made the sound a little muffled. Bathrooms were a bit limited for a 300 person wedding, and the bar location was tight for getting drinks. Food line also took a bit of time to get through. Fiancé loved the converted church vibe!

The chandeliers are absolutely beautiful and go with any event. My new husband and I had a short planning window (proposal November 5th, 2020, wedding May 4th, 2021). We already had a Star Wars theme planned, and Renee had some amazing options to go with it, like the sequined table runners, and all of the colored linen tablecloths we wanted, in our colors of blue, purple, and black. She had everything set up for us on short notice of a change to have our ceremony at Spruce St as well, since rain started and our first venue was outside. Definitely go for the uplighting! The bridal suite and groom's room were great to have as a place for changing and keeping belongings safe. Renee has great ideas if you have any questions on how to run your big day!

My room was nice and very clean. I ordered room service as soon as I got to my room and it was delivered quickly. The salad was excellent and the hummus and pita bread appetizer was very good as well. I appreciated that this hotel was quiet. One issue I have had with hotels in Effingham is that it is hard to sleep due to the noise from the trucks in the interstate. Nearly all the Effingham hotels are located near the crossroads of two major interstates: I-70 and I-57. Both interstates have very heavy truck traffic 24 hours a day, and most of the hotels I have stayed in here are not quiet, you can hear trucks rumbling by all night long. This Holiday Inn is quiet, maybe because it is older and better built? I don't know but it was much easier to get a good night's sleep here. I appreciated that all the hand sanitizers were operational and full of sanitizer. Many hotels I visit have neglected to refill their sanitizers.

Of course I had to do this during the time change, so sunset happened earlier than normal. The Holiday Inn chain has a standard and this location filled that standard. I was greeted by Ryan at the front desk and he was a perfect fit for the job. I made the reservation on my cellphone, and didn't know what I was in for, it turned out to be a treat. I had met Kenny, the locations manager, and he helped me in the same manner. Needless to say I was exhausted after the long drive and I had dinner within the lobby. I wasn't sure if I could make the longer drive and everyone here made me feel like family. Thank you all for the great visit at Effingham's better hotel location, I will be back again.
