If I could rate the services here no stars I would. I went in to get a second opinion about Lasik and PRK. Dr. Main was dismissive, rude and unhelpful. He wouldn't answer my questions with anything substantial and refused to help me get my test results. He told me to request it from my portal and when I logged into the portal there were no results to print or even reference what he did. I am so disappointed in the care of this facility. I will say the front desk people were very nice and even the nurse that did most of my testing was good and efficient. AFTER the visit was also terrible. They told me I would be dilated for 24 hours and I ended up being dilated for 72 hours and it messed up my work and whole week because I was preparing for an event that week that I couldn't work on because I couldn't see anything up close. I also couldn't drive well and almost had to call work off because the light was so painful. UPDATE: The doctor wouldn't write down my results and told me to get them at the desk which he clearly knew nothing about the process because they wouldn't give them to me at the desk. Then they tell me I can get the results for free online. I submitted a request for my documents on my portal and they said it would be free. Turns out a week after I requested them they're trying to charge me $42 on top of the $95 I already paid. Kellogg and U of M is just a money hungry store where they won't help you. If you have serious eye issues, this is your place. I recently had an eye emergency and had to be seen by a retina specialist stat for an emergent procedure. I was seen quickly and was greeted by a professional, friendly, and calming staff. I hate eye anything as I'm super sensitive, but I will gladly return here. The retina specialist gave me a thorough exam, laid out all my options, and the risks vs. benefits of each. They managed to inform without scaring the crap out of me and allowed me to make my own informed decision. Once I ripped the bandaid off and pulled up my big girl panties, they completed an inpatient procedure within minutes. No fuss, no wait, no chance to wuss out. Trust me, that is a good thing. They literally saved my sight, allowing me to continue to work and be a productive person. No joke. I'm not done on my journey, but they are walking me through it, and I have faith in them. I trust their advice and care and hope to be working with them for a long time. read more

The staff is rude, the two doctors I dealt with are dismissive, and they all seem to compete to see who can be the most sarcastic. First time there. In the waiting room there is a sign that you may be waiting 2-4 hours past your appointment. We soon found out that isn't a joke. Got called to go back which I thought was to see the doctor, about the time of my appointment. But, it was just to sit in the hallway for the next almost 2 hours. Finally took me to a treatment room only to wait another 40 minutes or so for the doctor to come in. All that for 10 minutes of the docs time. In all my days, never seen anything like that. If you do go here, plan on it taking most of the day. Ridiculous. read more

I arrived a little before 7:40 for an 8 a.m. appt. I was the very first patient at the Kellogg Eye Center for that day. It was my first appt. I was taken to the back by a nice young man for testing then a nice young lady did more testing after he was done. I was told to sit in the waiting area and wait to get photos taken of my eyes. This was at 8:35. I sat there till about 9:25 before letting them know that I had been waiting almost an hour. During that time I could hear several techs gossiping about their lives. I observed the same 2 ppl who had helped me continually helping patients. I walked down the hall to ask for my paperwork so I could leave and there were at least 5 techs standing around drinking their beverages and just talking. Doing absolutely nothing to help patients. The waiting area where I was seated was now full. I requested my paperwork to leave and I overheard a tech telling the other tech that I had been waiting almost an hour. She commented I would be next. I told her I had already waited an hour for her and would no longer wait for her to decide to do her job. I don't understand how this facility has so many treatment rooms yet the waiting rooms are full and the treatment rooms are empty. It is disrespectful for patients who pay their salary to have to wait that long bc they are gossiping. They should be paid by how many patients they treat and not by the hour. Maybe patients would be treated better by them. I have been getting glaucoma treatment for over 10 years and know it does not take an hour for a tech to make a patient wait for photos. I should have been out of that center within an 1 1/2 hours. I left and refused to schedule an appt at Kellogg again. I cannot tell you what Dr Frank looks like bc after waiting almost 2 hours, I probably would have had to wait another hour to see him. As someone who has previously worked in the medical field for over 10 years this behavior is unacceptable from any one who cares for patients. read more

Due to childhood eye injury, my ophthalmologist recommended that I go to Kellogg Eye Center for cataract surgery, She told me that they wouldn't attempt surgery on my injured eye locally. Everything went great at Kellogg Eye Center. The doctors and staff were friendly and professional. They warned me of possible problems and were ready if anything went wrong. This place is really daunting. There's so many different hallways and places to turn, and it's not clear when you have to go from one area to the next where are you should be waiting who you're going to see. Also, everything moves very slowly. Be prepared to stay here for hours regardless of why you are coming here. It's happened every time and every location I've been at. I feel like you're constantly waiting for something, and it's pretty common because just like last time everyone prepares for these appointments with large tote bags of activities to work on or foods to eat. I was better prepared this time and brought some documents to look at and made sure my phone was fully charged, but when you're coming in for a bunch of eye exams, it's hard to really look at anything that you brought so it's really just making sure I had a snack. I assume that maybe the people with the totes of activities are the family members who are driving the patients back-and-forth to these appointments. Overall, the doctors are nice and the staff are nice, it's just a lot of things going on at the same time. It's clean here and parking is good unlike the rest the Ann Arbor area. read more

I had a new prescription, for glasses. This is one of only a handful of places who take my vision insurance. Prices are pretty high for frames. There are only a small number that are under $125. Most are $200 and up. It is a pretty busy place, make sure you sign in upon arrival. They did work with me to get my glasses adjusted. I would rate them higher if their frame prices were more competitive with the chains. But they do have a captive audience, being that many eye care specialists are located there. read more

A few years ago, I had a weird spot show up in my vision, different from my usual ocular migraines, so I called Kellogg Eye Center and they got me in ASAP to make sure I didn't have a detached retina or some other emergency. Luckily it wasn't that, but they checked me over very thoroughly and I was grateful for the emergency visit. We actually never really figured out what it was, but it did eventually go away so I didn't have to follow up with a neurologist as they suggested. THEN, this year, my husband developed a bump on his eye. He visited Kellogg several times to get it checked out and it turned out it was benign cyst that usually goes away on its own. However, my husband has scar tissue on his eyes from eye surgery as a child so it wasn't clearing up on its own. So into the operating room he went to have it removed. The procedure was speedy and COVID safe and he was home resting within 2 hours. They've been monitoring him virtually since then and, after he developed some irritation after the procedure, they checked him via photos and phone calls as a follow up and we got it sorted quickly. He's almost back to 100% now and so grateful to finally be able to wear his contact lenses again! My grandma sees Kellogg doctors in Northville for her Macular Degeneration and they've also been stellar. It's a wonderful resource to have in our backyard and I'm grateful for their expertise and flexibility! read more

We came from across the state because the doctor had an amazing reputation. Our initial appointment with him was scheduled for 1:15. We were taken right back into a testing Roon( started out great). We were then led to a second waiting room where we sat for over two hours. When we were finally escorted to an examination room we still had an additional wait time of 30 minutes before we saw the doctor. We finally left the office at 5:15.... Very frustrating experience ! We are now back for a follow -up visit . It is 21/2 hours past our scheduled appointment and we still haven't seen the doctor. We will not be back read more

Dr. Demirci is an excellent surgeon, BUT, appointments take 4 hours or more, AND when I had surgery, I was not given enough anesthesia, so I was screaming in pain during the surgery. It was horrific. To add insult to injury, the anesthesiologists were arrogant jerks, and they insisted they did nothing wrong. I complained to Patient Relations, and never heard back. In short, they suck. read more

Arrived during lunch hour desperate for frame adjustment - my specs were falling off my face when I leaned forward! My Family and I have been clients for years here. Two or more of my brood have eye exam and suit up with new glasses every year here. Pretty good selection of frames. There is a low-no cost rack of frames if you have the right insurance. Also some high end specs - Gucci, etc... Personnel are usually friendly knowledgeable and even fun to work with. The center was pretty empty - one other lone person was working on getting a new? pair of glasses. I waited but not for long! Even better the service was wonderfully cheerful despite the fact that she was scheduled to work through the upcoming holiday-With only Christmas Day off. I have been a patient for several years due to a conena disease. My vision depends on the use of PROSE lenses. I had an appointment on December 19, 2023 with my specialist Dr. Karen DeLoss. She has been amazing over the years and my quality of life is great due to her expertise. I recently called the U of M Kellogg eye center to inquire as to the ETA of the lenses Dr. Delos s said she would order for me as my old lenses are wearing out and are uncomfortable. I called last week to inquireas to what was happening and today, January 9, 2024 I received a call to explain that Dr. DeLoss is still waiting for an insurance approval and that it could take 3-4 months, which I found to be ridiculous. He explained that there was only 1 person that communicates with patient health insurance, but good news, another person was recently hired. Not at all happy with this information I called my insurance company to see if they could speed up the process only to discover that U of M Kellogg eye center has NOT submitted a pre-approval request yet. I need these special lenses to see properly and without them I am legally blind. I CANNOT BELIEVE AN INSTITUTION THE SIZE OF U OF M KELLOGG EYE CENTER IS SO NEGLIGENT!! read more

I was called back 45 minutes after my appointment time. I was then escorted to a second waiting room, where I am currently still waiting, and it is now an hour and 15 minutes past my appointment time. As someone who works in the evening and made sure that my appointment was made at a time that would not interfere with my ability to teach, even accounting for the 45 minute drive in, I find this wholly unacceptable and unreasonable. If you know you're short staffed then limit the amount of patients that can be seen in a day. There are 8 of us in the second waiting room NOT socially distancing and sitting in the same air. Don't come here if you have ANYTHING you have to do besides get stuck in 5pm traffic even though your appointment was at 1:30. read more

Get your LASIK surgery here. Ranked 8th in Ophthalmology in the US. High quality care. Excellent outcomes. Experienced providers that are up to date on the latest evidence based care and technologies. Additionally the providers contribute to the growing body of knowledge of LASIK, PRK procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Hood for LASIK! I had a lovely experience. Followed the instructions exactly for both the assessment and the actual surgery and now have 20/15 vision. I started out with a -4.25 and -5.75. If you think you're prescription is too high for LASIK or PRK, it might not be- get an evaluation- you just might be a candidate! The day of surgery: *Dr. Hood enters, advises you to take your Valium(prescription obtained ahead of time) *Dr. Hood assesses your eyes one last time for good measure *In the clothes you wore into the office you walk over to the room with the fancy equipment, donn a hair net, and lay down on the table [at this point the Valium has kicked in and you're feeling pretty darn calm] *Dr. Hood gives clear instructions on your role in the surgery: hold still, stare at the red and green lights. He talks through what he doing and what you should expect throughout the 5 minute procedure (I found this to be exceptional and incredibly reassuring). [at this point, you're super calm and when the "I can't believe I am doing this" thought comes rolling in you're too chill to get excited about it- you're doing it!] *The LASIK procedure is what seems like two steps: First, the flap is created on the right eye, and then the left eye (you're staring at the red and green lights holding your gaze without moving. Wait, did my eyeball just wander to the left?!). Second, the vision correction starts and Dr. Hood returns to the right eye, then the left. Dr. Hood talks you through what to expect at each step. [You held that gaze like a champ and remained chill even when there was a fair amount of pressure/suction (not pain) AND when the red and green lights disappeared and everything went black. Yep, black. As in no vision with your eyes wide open. Deep breath] *Procedure is over, your eyes are a bit watery, but through the water/tears/antibiotic ointment you immediately notice: you can see the chair, tech's face, your own hand! It's a Christmas miracle! *you're given super, non-fashionable eye patches that are taped to your face and you go home. The super-chill-everything's-cool me didn't follow me home. My eyes burned like there was a literal fire on my eyeballs and they watered like a fire hose. I don't know why this happened. It lasted for a while. I'm not gonna lie it was horrible - but I believe I'm the anomaly as this doesn't happen to most people (maybe I had an allergic reaction to the cleaning solution, I don't know). Additionally, I did NOT take pain medications that were recommended. So get yourself some water and OTC pain meds, put them at your bedside before you leave for the surgery. (Do as I say, not as I do?) That way when you get home you're all set up- just in case your eyes are watering so much you can't see. You're gonna want to sleep. After the transient watery, painful mess I've never had another issue. My vision is perfect and it's incredible to wake up every day and see. I've found myself putting down my phone to take in the environment now that I can see more clearly. 100% worth it. Best decision I've made. Cost: $4400 total. read more

My son sees a pediatric ophthalmologist at Kellogg. We go once ever 4 months and have always had a very positive experience. The waiting room is full of fish tanks, books, toys, and a play structure. It makes waiting with a now toddler so much easier. We've never waited for more than 20 minutes to be seen and have been ushered back quickly. Once in a room, the nurses and various doctors cycle through. There's a small tv that they will play a movie on while you wait so as not to tempt your child with all the equipment, which I love. Dr. Bohnsack was able to easily find the right prescription for my squirmy 7 month old. She was friendly, very caring and interested in my perspective. I would recommend this department to anyone with a young child who has been referred to an ophthalmologist. They are all extremely knowledgeable and the care is very comprehensive! read more

Not sure what to think. Nice greetings from check in desk. They made me pay before I saw the Dr. The waiting area and payment area was pure craziness. The girl said it was due to lunch hour. I had my lasik prescreen tests done at a nice pace. Very friendly assistant. Now I have been waiting 45 minutes to see the Dr. I feel like they are dropping the ball with the long wait. The Dr finally showed up. He answered all my questions and explained my options. I left and told them I would call to schedule the surgery. I called the next day and left a message and have not received a call back a day and a half later. I think they are good at what they do but they are just overbooked. I am so disappointed in the Kellogg Eye Center in Grand Blanc. I understand sometimes we run late and patients have to wait, however it is disrespectful and out right rood to have older patients wait for 2 hours or more for an exam. If you cant manage your schedule better you need to find a new profession. I to am a physician and would never accept my staff or office running so late. It would also be unacceptable to not let the patient know from the start that the doctor is running late. Shame on U of M and the local staff. read more

I hate to spoil the big "greatness" about the University of Michigan Hospitals as "THE" place to go if you need a good Dr. I've had 2 bad experiences here at the Neuro Opthamology /Opthamology dept. I was in a horrible car accident in 2002. I acquired an "MTBI" or "mild traumatic brain injury" and was in brain injury rehab for 3 years on an outpatient but 3 days per week basis. I was referred to the Neuro Opthamology dept and first I saw a Dr. Wayne Cornblath Md (Opthamology, Neurology) and later referred to a Dr. Jon Trobe MD (also Opthamology,Neurology). Both Dr's had supposedly been to the best schools and programs and are staff Dr.'s at the U of M hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. I had special objective testing done which showed up the brain injury in my Cerebellum and "with a Central dysfunction". Dr. Cornblath was cold, indifferent and his nurse was as bad or worse than he was! He didn't care or listen or try to help in any way, shape or form. After feeling that this was a futile attempt at any kind of help for my nerve related eye problems; we decided to just leave before I was even finished with everything. It was a cold and "nasty" atmosphere and I swore I wouldn't go back...not ever!! That was back in about 2004 or 2003 I think? The problems with my eyes have gotten worse with time and I was again referred to U of M eye center but to a Dr. Jonathon Trobe, MD. Oh my goodness!!!! This appointment was only my 2nd worse appointment anywhere, ever! *(the first worse appointment was a shoulder Dr. who said to me "what part of "I can't fix it!" Don't you understand?...is it your brain injury?" and later I went to a wonderful shoulder Dr. at Providence, a Dr. Jeffrey Michaelson MD; and he told me that I had a "ruptured bicepts tendon and torn rotator cuffs and the tendon had grown wrong for a whole year while I was searching for a Dr. to help me! (and they all told me it was pretty much "in my head").Then I had the surgery to drill into the bone in my shoulder/arm and he fixed or unattached and reattached the tendons and put two titanium screws in and it got much better thanks to Dr. Michaelson who took the time to listen to me, who took me seriously, and who was kind and caring)* So I waited and as the years have gone by, my Neuro eye problems have gotten worse, along with the fact that I had a stroke or CVA in 2006 which did something more to the nerves in my right eye. I was then referred to Dr. Trobe MD, at U of M's Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor, MI. He actually told me that I had "nothing wrong" and that the picture I brought him of my eye when it flares up was a picture of the "wrong eye" (and he laughed at me!! When in all reality it had been taken in the mirror in my bathroom by ME and therefore it was a reflection and it really WAS my right eye but looked like my left due to the reflection and the way mirrors work!); when I tried to explain to him that it was a "mirror image", he just laughed at me. He was mean and cold and non-validating and had absolutely NO bedside manner! My husband looked at me and said "Do you want to get out of here?" I nodded through my tears and we booked !! We got out of there so quickly...me, my cane and my hubby..can you imagine us trying to "run" out of that place ? Well, I just know I had to let other people know about my trials and tribulations with some of the Dr's that I've seen throughout this whole ordeal. These were just the top ones that "took the cake" for being the worst Dr's I've seen throughout my car accident ordeal that took place in 2002/August! read more

I've had a weird cyst on my left eyelid for over 3 weeks now that hasn't gotten better. I went to 2 other places and was told there was not much I could do. I decided to call Kellogg on Tuesday and I was able to get an appointment in Comprehensive Ophthalmology for that Friday. The technicians and doctors I met were extremely nice and took their time in trying to figure out what was going on. The first Dr. wasn't quite sure so he went and asked another Dr. to come take a look. Turns out that it's not like the typical cysts they see and that they've never seen anything similar to it before. They went an consulted with a plastics surgeon and I'll go back next week and they'll remove it if it isn't gone. I really appreciated the lack of ego and their willingness to consult with others. I also liked the fact that they were candid that they weren't sure what it was and 1) didn't try to make something up or just get me out of there as quick as possible and 2) figured out a plan of action in any case. The doctors were all extremely nice and one walked out with me to the scheduling desk and explained everything again as I was leaving. If I ever have another problem after this gets taken care of, I will definitely go back to Kellogg. read more

I love this place and the doctors are great but they need to do something about scheduling. Every time im here, which is often, the wait time is a minimum of 2 hours. Im in contact with the staff for about 20 minutes the whole visit. I understand some people don't show up for their appointments but scheduling 10 people for the same time is a terrible idea. People have more things to do in the day than be shuffled around waiting rooms for 2-3 hours. read more

My husband was given an emergency appointment on May 30th for his progressive keratoconus. We had a 3 hour appointment that ended with seeing Dr. Mian for 2 minutes. He recommended scheduling a cross-linking procedure immediately to hopefully slow the progression down. We checked out and the woman at the front desk said to give it 30 days until we heard from them so they could process the procedure through our insurance. It is their policy to do that before they will schedule anything. We waited until July 2nd and didn't hear anything so I called and was told I would have to speak with Jennifer as she is the only one in the office who handles the insurance claims. I spoke with her and she said that she was confused and that we weren't due back until September for a follow up appointment. I said yes, but additionally, there was to be a procedure scheduled asap prior to that. She checked and said oh yes, I see that and we have been contacting your insurance, give me a week and we should be able to have an answer for you. Obviously, I knew they had messed up at this point and never even started to get this scheduled, but we let it go thinking they would expedite it considering the circumstances. July 12th and I didn't hear from her again, called and she was unavailable so I left an unreturned voicemail. I called on the 13th and left an unreturned voicemail, called the 17th and still no return call. on the 18th I called my insurance company and was told that they had never been contacted by Kellogg for anything besides billing for the initial visit. I called Jennifer and left a message stating this and received no return call. We are now going to a Beaumont doctor on the 22nd praying that my husband doesn't go completely blind in his right eye in the meantime and hoping they can get us in for surgery quickly. I left a last voicemail for Jennifer on August 2nd telling her to close our file and not bother contacting my insurance company. I was disspointed to see how little, specifically Jennifer, cared about us. UofM seems to pride itself on customer service, but they really dropped the ball on this one. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy, but if you do go here and are dealing with the insurance department, don't expect a lot from Jennifer at 734.936.9449-she can't be bothered. read more

The optical shop is really a hit or miss. In particular I would caution to avoid a specific optician. I didn't get her name (I'll update this review when I do), but she is an older woman with a short blond bob. I have gone to kellogg eye center for my eyes since childhood, and the actual optometrists are usually great. She's nice enough (a bit rude and inpatient on busy days, but that's understandable), but honestly just not great at her job. She didn't know how to adjust the nose pads of my new glasses to fit my face well and told me that that was the best they were going to get. They were uncomfortable and dug into my skin, leaving indents and bruising on my nose bridge... Fast forward a few weeks and I'm helping my mom pick up her glasses. She had an optician- a young man-(also insert name when I get it)- that was really helpful and knowledgable. After watching him fit my mother's glasses I asked him if he could do anything about mine. He checked the fit, then took them to the back. After a few minutes he came out and when I tried on the glasses they felt so much better. He told me he lowered the position of the nose pads so they would sit better on my nose shape. I was so thankful he was able to fix my glasses so quickly and effectively! Honestly I don't know how this lady has kept her job all these years... she just doesn't have the level of expertise I would expect from Kellogg. Maybe since she's been there so long she is getting lazy or not brushing up on her skills. Next time if I get her I'm honestly just going to request a different optician. read more

I've had laser eye treatments here on more than one occasion and I like the care I get here. Dr. Shah is a great eye doctor and I put my trust completely in her professional care. I have seen Dr. Shahzad Mian at the Kellogg eye center in Ann Arbor twice since January. I filed a formal complaint with the office of clinical safety. My case was handled by Kandi Jurek. I received ONE phone call from her despite my numerous calls and letters. Last month they informed me that Dr. Mian had met the standard of care and my case was closed. Not one word or apology for my experience, nothing. This man is a cold, arrogant, unfeeling jerk with zero bedside manner. I left his office in tears and with no more understanding of my condition then when I arrived (oh and waited an hour before seeing him). I am now seeing Chris Hood in the same office and he is wonderful. Once my treatment for zoster keratitis is complete I wont be back even to Dr. Hood because the wait is always an hour and you see a student then a tech then the doctor. Set aside 3 hours plus drive time. read more

This clinic has literally seen me grow up. I've been going here for at least 17 years if not longer. These negative reviews honestly crack me up. What are you people expecting? This clinic has some of the best doctors in the world so of course there is going to be a wait. I have spent so much time here and yes sometimes it is ridiculous but it's what I've grown to expect. If you just need contacts go to Target. If you have a rare disorder that affects your eyes then you're not going to find a better clinic than Kellogg's. I've had multiple surgeries conducted by these doctors and have a hard time trusting other doctors to live up to the quality of care I have received here. read more

Be forewarned! This practice DOES NOT take responsibility for billing the insurance even if they are listed as a provider by your company. They have gone back 20 years to the time of washing their hands of the task and pushed it back on the client to someday, hopefully, get your $1000+ back! By the way, when they cut this cost center out of their practice I'm sure they didn't cut their fees accordingly! read more

This was our first time at the Kellogg Eye Center. We were there for an IME, Independant Medical Exam with Dr. Jonathan Trobe for my Brain Injury survivor son. For the record for the last 30 plus years I have been employed as a legal and medical interpreter. Plus, I work with an international company that certifies rehabilitation programs worldwide. And I have even taken University classes from U of M. Point being, I have been in face to face contact with thousands health care personel, including doctors through out my career. The few minutes we spent with Dr.Tobe was worst experience I have had in my Life. My handicapped son cannot speak but has an augmentive speaking device to help him communicate. My wife and I have been his legal guardians post accident, mandated by the Court. All of which I explained to Dr. Trobe as he stated he didn't want us in the exam room during his IME. We weren't formally introduced to his fellow doctor with the Lindsey name tag so we introduced ourselves. Dr Trobe stated that all he had relating to our son's vision problems was an exam my son had as a teenager a few months after his car accident. But he felt he could still proceed with the exam. So we were there for an IME exam to decide if the new vision doctor therapies that our son was receiving was helpful in any way. This being mandated by our insurance company. We live on the West side of the state and we were mandated to visit the 70 year old Dr. Trobe in Ann Arbor instead of seeing a qualified eye doctor on the West Side. We informed Dr. Trobe that we had the information he was lacking, plus photos and documented testimony of vision specialists who have known our son, pre and post accident. No thank you from Dr. Trobe and he proceeded with the vision IME with his "Pen light" and little rubber hammer. After three questions to our son, Dr Trobe said our son was Cognative enough to answer his questions. So he told my wife and I to "hush". So when we tried to tell Dr. Trobe that our son had his reading glasses in his shirt pocket, and ask why a vision exam included the Dr.feeling of my son's arms and legs and asking why Dr. Trobe put a Kleenex tissue between my son's eye and glasses with his unwashed hands, we were strongly hushed. So I wrote everything down that Dr. Trobe shared with his fellow Dr.Lindsey. None of which he addressed to us, the parent/guardians. He did whisper to his fellow Dr. that our son's vision had improved dramatically ! So despite enduring the poor bedside manner we felt were going to have a positive IME on our son ! Upon the completion of the short exam, we offered to show the good doctor the documents that we brought describing our son's therapies and progress but he refused to see them, saying he had already made his decision. He told us no progress was made and that the Vision Specialist we were seein could not help anyone including our son. So my first question was then how do you explain the dramatically improved vision you stated to your fellow doctor ? After stuttering and exclaiming a few other unidentifiable sounds, he angrily said," I don't know ." Then he caught himself and said," It's probably because you are paying more attention to him !". So I said," isn't that what vision therapy is. To which he yelled at us, "this exam is over, get out !" But I turned to Dr. Lindsey who at least had the decency to look at some of the documentation we brought. I asked her, "what is your opinion? ". She started to reply but Dr. Trobe yelled, "She has no opionion, get out !" I asked, was I going to get a copy of the IME on my son? I was told, "not unless I had a attorney !" As we drove back to the West side of the state, my son was sneezing and gagging from the effects of the Kleenex shoved in his eye. Despite explaining our IME experience to other U of M professionals, we were told we could not have an unbiased IME at U of M and that our Dr. Trobe's IME experience was up to "Medical Standards !" But I will let you decide. I have a Dr.Trobe survivors network going on. Last month Dr. Trobe told a brain injury victim complaining of vision problems, to "Get over it !" And he gets two thousand dollars plus for these IMEs ! Again, I am no Doctor but my son, in the last couple years, can now read without headaches, ride in a car without getting sick, play video games and even tennis and is now living an improved quality of Life on many levels.
