I visited for a routine eye exam recently and was thoroughly impressed by my experience. First of all, the office runs paperless, or as paperless as possible, which I fully support! Everything is done on tablets and your patient plan and prescription is emailed out to you. At every step of the way I was communicated with and updated. Everyone was extremely kind and helpful, from the doctor to the staff. Also, no one was pushy, there was no pressure to buy anything. Based on my first experience, I definitely recommend this place. I have been coming to the Eye Gallery for a few years now and have had a pleasant experience. I did have a couple incidents where the staff were not very attentive or basically made you feel ignored. I've had a mixed reaction here, sometimes it was fine, no issues, other times they mixed up my order, or just forgot to put it in leaving me frustrated. The frame selection personally is a bit lacking, as I have a high prescription which requires a smaller frame so the lenses don't look huge. I have not found any frames that are the size I want and they fit my style and face. As far as checkups go, this is smooth and easy, a pleasure to have the Doctor do a checkup, very friendly and perfect person to take care of your visual health. If it wasn't for Dr. Bulos I might go somewhere else due to the regular staff as they were hit or miss. read more

Dr. Bulos was great when I went in for my appointment, but the support staff was utterly lacking. I needed to know what my insurance would cover for lenses, which they had me wait around 15 minutes to find out just to inform me that the insurance site was down and they couldn't look it up. I was told my coverage for frames and informed I could pick from ONE TABLE if I wanted to come close to having them covered, and when I asked about other options I could pay the difference over I kept getting pointed to the one table with the cheapest frames. When the insurance site went down, instead of asking me what frames I was interested in and offering to call me back with the cost estimate once the site came back up, they simply told me they wanted me to cash out for my exam and go. Really disappointing on the customer service front, which is a shame because the eye exam itself was thorough and the actual doctor was great. They need some serious improvements on the front of house side of things, though. read more

I've been coming here for 6 years and the service has been very good in the past. In the last two visits, there were no frames I wanted. The first time it wasn't a problem, they special ordered frames. The second time, they did a special order again but lied about the color, but that's hardly the worst of it. After 3 months of not being able to get the lenses correct, I wanted out and demanded a refund. The office manager claimed he would do a partial refund (because of restocking fees etc) which I was completely fine with and agreed to. Some weeks later I check my HSA account to find that no money has returned to it. I with I has filed a dispute with my credit company against this place but the time period for that has expired. They display a magazine in the lobby that recognized the place as one of the best optometrist offices (in 2014). Those days are loooooong gone. As far as I'm concerned, the $400ish they promised to return is piss in the ocean, no great loss. I just have a hard time getting past how dishonorable it was for them to do such a thing. read more

Fashion frames, a great staff, high-tech optometry. I love this place. They use iPads for most of their work and communication and have modern optometry tools. A wide selection of frames that even make me look good. The staff is very personable and are quick to offer you a coffee when you are their for an appointment. Dr. Bulos is super cool. I chose this shop because of their pictures when I was looking online for a place in my vision plan network. Upon arrival, Dilann was very attentive and professional during the initial intake process. Dr. Bulos is an Arny vet so we chatted about military life during my exam. While they have a lot of nice styles for glasses, my insurance plan has a selection of covered frames. John noticed that I was somewhat struggling to decide on a pair and offered excellent assistance with selecting a frame that looked great on me. They sell cheap glasses at expensive prices, with a small selection. I bought my glasses a couple of months ago and they are all bent out of shape and I barely wear them. I am also not hard on my glasses when I wear them. I paid all this money for flimsy glasses. I will not be back. I will go back to SVS vision. So disappointed. read more

Had an exam appointment on February 24th to get new lenses...fast forward to today-May 24th and I am still having to deal with them to get my lens. The exam went just fine - ordered my lenses, told it would be a couple of weeks. Turned into a month and this was after having to make several phone calls to find out what was going on. Arrived to have them put in -- told a half hour...turned into close to two hours. Came back to say that one of the lens was damaged, ordered another one and that would take a week-that was on March 25th. Still trying to track down the infamous lens. read more

DO NOT go here if you have a high prescription -- I've had an absolutely terrible experience. I originally made an eye appointment at the Eye Gallery in July for an exam and with the intention to order my second pair of glasses from the shop. The nose pad on my previous pair broke off so I knew going in that I needed a replacement. The exam was brief and seemed fine... I selected a new pair afterward and was in and out within one hour. However, the problems began while waiting for my glasses to arrive back from the lab. I have a high prescription (-11.25 & -12.5), so I'm used to waiting a little bit longer for the lenses to be made. However, I was quoted a two week window. When I called in after two weeks had passed, I was told the lenses were being sent back to the lab as there had been an error. I was about to leave the country on a work trip and asked for them to please rush the correction as it had already been two weeks. It ended up taking three weeks to receive this initial pair and I received them three days before leaving the country. I wore the glasses for the entirety of a weekend with very negative results, leading to headaches and dizziness. The long distance vision in these glasses was blurry and particularly disorienting in the sunlight. I was forced to switch back to my old pair for the entirety of my three week trip abroad as the shop could not get me in for a new exam/to correct their mistake prior to my departure. I sat for a new exam upon my return and it was determined the issue arose from the base curve. Apparently, this was much different in my new pair when compared to my old. If this affects vision, it's still unclear why the base curve was not tested for or looked at in the initial exam. The frames were sent away again and I waited another two and a half weeks for the replacement pair while using my old glasses. When the new pair came in the changes to the base curve slightly improved my vision, but over another weekend of wearing this pair, I came to realize that my distance vision while in sunlight came across as very blurry and my eyes were much more sensitive than normal. I called the shop again to indicate there was a problem and the first question they asked was "how do you wear your glasses?" I've worn glasses for 18 years and I've always worn them the same way -- on my nose. I've never been asked this question. I played around with how the glasses were positioned on my face and didn't sense much of a difference in the clarity of my distance vision. I was told that because my prescription is so high there were many different things they could test to see what the issue was -- if it could lead to an issue, why don't they test for these in the first place?! Also, I've had a high prescription for most of my life, if this is often the case, why have I never had issues with my prescription being correct in the past? I sat for another eye exam with a substitute doctor (the managing doctor was on a cruise for another two weeks when I called for an appointment). He indicated this vertex measurement was indeed the issue yet when they adjusted the glasses in store, there was still no difference in my distance vision. It was only after I said that didn't help that the guest doctor spoke up and indicated he had found a different prescription than what the original doctor prescribed.... why this wasn't deemed necessary to mention up front is unclear. They asked what course of action I wanted to take, suggesting that maybe I switch back to frames more similar to my old pair (none of these similar options were available in store). When I originally ordered, it was never mentioned that the difference in frame size or placement would cause issue with my prescription. I asked for a refund for not only the lenses and frames but the original eye exam. My insurance only allows one exam every two years and I'll still need this exam to receive the correct prescription. I was told that they couldn't refund the exam because the payment was "for the doctor's time." This is still unresolved. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Like one of the other reviewers the treatment between the desk staff and the doctor was completely different. They talked down to me like I was a child and was completely standoffish when I said I wouldn't be buying glasses or contacts. I will say that whole eye exam was something that I've never experienced before (weighed me, took blood pressure reading, and height) and it felt a little uncomfortable, but when I questioned them about it they said something about how it related to eye health so I went with it. read more

This place is wonderful. I went here for a yearly eye exam and a new pair of glasses. The exam was the most thorough one I have ever received. Dr. Bulos uses all of the latest technology plus some tests I have never had before. The result is the best prescription I have ever had in thirty years of wearing glasses, which included using prism correction (what a difference!). On top of it, Dr. Bulos was really patient. He answered my list of questions, took photographs to compare for the next exam, and was extremely pleasant. The staff was also great. They let me take my time, took photographs so I could compare and even tried on my selections so I could see them on another face. The result is that I love my new glasses. They are perfect (fit and function) and, best of all, stylish. Though this place is a bit further than the usual places I go for eye care, it was well worth the extra drive. I am in complete agreement with the other reviews of Dr. Bulos. He is genuinely interested in giving you the best options. The exam price was higher than I was used to, however there was much more involved in his process. I have never written a review of a business before, but I felt inclined to speak about my customer service experience. I am a level-headed person and I understand what it's like in retail, so I can usually brush things off. However, it seemed like such a surprisingly drastic difference in care when I switched from the Dr. to his staff. First off, I was told over the phone that my AAA card would give me a discount on all exams and contacts. That was hard to believe but of course I was happy to hear it. When I brought this up, I was firmly told (like a parent to their child) that this discount was for glasses only. I said "that's okay - but just so you are aware, an employee told me otherwise on the phone so there must be a miscommunication." No angry tone - just trying to bring it to their attention. Not only did she not answer to that statement, but she would not look or talk to me for the remainder of my time there except to tell me my final total - emphasizing the cost of taxes just in case I tried to get away with paying less. Overall, my experience outside of the exam room felt lonely. When I came back to pick up my contacts I noticed a sign advertising up to a $100 rebate for the purchase of Acuvue products. I asked about it since I bought acuvue contacts and she said it only applies to a year supply. If I had been talked to like a normal person and given the option, they would have certainly gotten a year's supply out of me. I felt that I was judged on the basis of asking about a discount and that it was assumed I was looking for the cheapest experience possible and that made me less important. I wish Dr. Bulos would consider new employees that care as much as he does. Moral of the story: make sure you ask about all of your options and document any quotes/discount claims. First, we did not get an exam here so I'm not reviewing the Dr. The office staff, however, is horrible. They are rude and very off-putting. When looking at frames, I had to beg them to unlock them so my son could actually try them on. Then, super high pressure sales of every upgrade imaginable and basically said I was horrible for not buying them all. The frames, though very expensive, have broken twice in a year (my son is a teen and super responsible, not hard on his glasses at all and never broken any in the 6 years he's worn glasses). We got a lot of attitude getting them repaired too. Apparently it's my fault for not paying to upgrade the hinges...what?! Then, they had these for repair for weeks and wouldn't return our multiple phone calls. We finally got them back only because we went to the store. I don't know they ever would've called us! If they break again, we'll be throwing them out and going somewhere else. Spending several hundred on glasses shouldn't get you treated this way. read more

Either John or Dan will greet you and take care of your insurance and business needs with proficiency and kindness. Dr Bulos is the optometrist you will see and care doesn't get any better than this. He is professional and caring and the level of detail he doctors with is something I have not experienced. This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review of any sort, and this is the first time I have ever expressed a preference for an optometrist. Dr. Burlos is great. You can tell he really enjoys what he is doing, and knows what he is doing. He was able to talk to me in a way that encouraged me to ask questions, I really felt like I was a part of the process, and that my input mattered. The pre-exam screening is all done with various electronic instruments, including an autorefractor which can get you a "starting point" for your prescription, this is especially nice for children, as they can spend less time in the chair picking between "number 1" and "number 2". The staff at the eye gallery is very friendly and helpful, they are interested in making you happy and finding the best frames for you, not just the most expensive. We have 3 kids and the staff were very accommodating and handled the children well. This was my daughters first experience getting her eyes checked and she had a fantastic experience. I have also never seen so much technology used in such an efficient way in almost any business. Forms, glasses fittings, and records are all handled using iPads, and when you are done you can get a PDF of the invoice emailed to you. It's nice to see a modern operation making good use of the technology available to them. I can't recommend this establishment enough, we will definitely be returning for our future exams. read more

I went in to the Eye Gallery to look to see what glasses they had available. When I entered the store, I was said hello to by one man behind the counter. There was a couple being helped by the other employee in there & another lady was also looking at the glasses, not once was I asked if I needed help or wanted to book an appointment. Not only was I disappointed in the service but the selection was not nearly as wide as all the other eyeglass places in the area. I won't be going back & neither will the rest of our family. If you want to stay in business & get customers to come there & to come back, maybe asking if they need help would make this a better place. read more

Perhaps Dr. Bulos is wonderful (I didn't have an eye exam with him, just went to purchase glasses), but I found the actual quality and fitting of the glasses by the staff to be subpar. I had to have 2 pairs of glasses adjusted numerous times and they still never fit right. One pair I can manage with but the other I can't even wear. Although I went in at least 3 times, they never told me that if I wanted to get a new pair of glasses (frames/lenses) it had to be before 6 months (all 3 times were within the 6 month period). Plus they said there was a paint chip on the frame. Looking more carefully, I realized the chip was where the screw for the hinge hit the frames from the inside, therefore rubbing the paint off in a perfect circle on the outside of the frame. I would not recommend their services and I feel like I just threw away my money. read more

I recently met with Dr Bulos for an eye exam as my prescription has gotten far worse and I have had very irritated eyes. I went to a different eye doctor the month previously only to be told that nothing had changed and that they had no recommendations. I had the best experience with Dr. Bulos he was able to identify why my eyes have been bothering me, helped me find a new brand of contact lenses and recommended vitamins to help with eye health and gave me tips on where to buy it and what to look for on the label so that I wasn't over spending. He took time with me to help me fully understand everything even taking pictures of what he saw when he looked at my eyes to show where my cornea was damaged. I can't say enough positive things about my entire experience. He also followed up with me via email with a summary and answered additional questions i thought of after the fact. Dr. Bulos and his team are fabulous professionals. I am so happy I found them when searching for a new optometrist in Michigan. Of all the doctors a person should visit to keep healthy, I actually look forwarding to scheduling and making my yearly appointment here! The use of technology in both the front office and the eye exam is impressive and the staff obviously love their jobs and make ordering contacts and glasses a breeze. Their knowledge and helpfulness is awesome - dealing with my vision insurance this year has been an unpleasant trip, but they have gone above and beyond answering my questions and sharing their knowledge. I am so appreciative for their help sorting out issues with my flexible spending accounts. I also appreciate their fastidious attention to details. Recently my insurance company has sent not one, but TWO pairs of defective glasses! Thankfully both quality issues were caught by The Eye Gallery and they quickly returned both pairs for corrective actions.
