I definitely NEVER fell into that stereotype (Ken just isn't my type?). In fact, up until I met my now husband, I never considered getting married even an option for me (and neither did my family). I was even about to start a club called SPINSTERS FOR LYFE. So when my manfriend of 2 years proposed to me on Christmas 2015... I had a bit of a panic attack (I've got video to prove it- according to my husband, I was not happy about being proposed to! Ah ha ha). When it finally "sunk in" (let's be real, it still hasn't) that I was going to get married (thanks to my mom "motivational" words of "get your sh*t together, about two months after being proposed to), the panic attack returned because HOW IN THE F-ity F do I plan a wedding?! THANKFULLY I watch enough girly chick flicks to know that WEDDING PLANNERS do exist... And my brother's girlfriend (who may or may not have played dress up Bride when she was a kid, LOL) just so happened to be friends with one! Talk about coincidence! Sure I could have simply settled for my brother's girlfriend's friend but just like dating, you've got to play the field before you find your perfect match, AMIRIGHT?! So I decided to meet a few other planners before settling down. After many "first dates"... I decided to make my move and proposed to Dee (the owner and main wedding planner of No Worries Events). She accepted, and til November 12 do us part! I remember early on in the process of planning, getting a bit stressed about where to get married, numbers, settings, etc... And calling Dee completely frazzled- even telling her JUST GIVE ME A CALL TIME AND I WILL BE THERE! NO WORRIES!" She said... And she was right. Dee researched venues for my husband and I to check out (and came with us to said venues), florists, wedding photographers, DJs, etc... And made sure ALL COSTS stayed within our wedding budget. She made sure my husband and I were 100% happy with all the decisions and whenever we had questions/comments/concerns for and about the venue we selected, she always took care of it! Never once did I feel stressed, frazzled or nervous- ONLY INSANELY EXCITED! Sure, there were a few snags during the planning process, I mean- when are there not?! But Dee took care of ALL OF THEM (giving Jennifer Lopez/Mary a run for her money)... And when November 12 finally arrived... The day was above and beyond perfect. I won't lie to you, I had NO IDEA what the ballroom was going to look like... Thanks to the fact that there was little communication about floral decor other than my wanting SOLELY LEAVES (no flowers because of allergies)... But Dee pretty much READ MY MIND and made sure the room looked almost exactly to what I had envisioned. Okay, I need to stop myself from going on and on, because I certainly could... Dee is above and beyond. I wouldn't have had the wedding I had without her. Nope. And you know what?? She was extremely communicative, helpful, honest, and proactive - and helped make our vision a reality. We planned our whole wedding, but also work several jobs and live out of state. So at times, it was challenging to stick to our timeline and keep track of all the moving pieces. Here are the qualities we experienced with Lauren, and I'm confident you'd get the same: PROACTIVE: We shared our planning document with Lauren early on, and she was so great about jumping in and providing recommendations, asking questions we hadn't thought of, and reminding us to do things before it was too late. We had a list of "items we need" and Lauren went so far as to lend us some things she had, search Craigslist/Offer Up/ Etsy to make suggestions, and even went out of her way to pick up some decor for us from a vendor in CA since we were out of state. HELPFUL: Lauren helped us navigate how to get our marriage license and sent us a very detailed email with all the specifics. These little things REALLY add up when you're running 100 miles per hour with your job, planning, family stuff, etc. COMMUNICATIVE: Lauren took the initiative to reach out to all of our other vendors to check in with them, answer questions, provide information and make sure they had what they needed. Towards the end, she also took over communication with our venue on our behalf, which was a weight off my shoulders because they kept forgetting things I had told them! It was nice to have her as the middle-woman. By the time we actually got to the wedding, Lauren was so familiar with our vision and plan that everything was flawless!! ACTION-ORIENTED: I had intended to be much more involved on the day with helping get set up - but I didn't get a single thing done on my to-do list because everyone was talking to us / asking how to help / etc etc - it was so overwhelming but I knew that I could comfortably go upstairs to get ready with the girls and Lauren would have it handled. By the time we walked out for the ceremony, everything was STUNNING. Lauren helped set up the table decor, all the signage, the florals, etc. I had so many family and guests say what a hard worker her and her husband (who showed up to give an extra set of hands) are. I have to admit, I really had to convince my husband (and other family members involved in the wedding) that we even needed a coordinator and to make space for it in the budget. Given that we were planning it all and had so much help, it was difficult to convince some people. We were hesitant at first since every other vendor was a friend or acquaintance and we weren't sure we needed a coordinator. And for all the people who were skeptical about hiring a coordinator, they all understood what a necessary role they plays when they saw Lauren and her husband in action. For anyone in a similar situation: DON'T SKIP OUT ON IT. Having someone that is not directly involved with your guests is essential in getting stuff done. We went ahead and trusted the yelp 5 star reviews (big mistake!) and set up a meeting with Kaci to do our wedding. At first she seemed super enthusiastic and happy to do our wedding. So we went ahead and hired her to be our wedding coordinator. We found a spot that we liked and after "crushing some numbers" Kaci said was it was in our budget. We had many meetings with her and we sent many emails about what we wanted, so we thought Kaci had a good idea of our vision. We were wrong! The date was for set for a Saturday and it was a very important date for my wife and I cause the next day we booked a family cruise. Anyways after a few months Kaci suddenly sends us an email saying that the vendor is the most expensive she has seen and that the price has gone up! Huh? Didn't she research this? Why is she telling us AFTER we put down our deposit and many months later? Then she tells is that our ceremony is 30 minutes long and that the reception is 3 hours! Huh? Did we not talk to her about this? Why is everything changing? We sent out the save the dates and we put down a deposit so obviously we are freaking out. So we contacted her and this is word for word what her reply was ... "Sorry :(" A sad face?! A sad face?! Yeah your wedding date just went to hell and your venue fell through and the company that is supposed to watch your back during this process just sent you a sad face. We were very distraught and we decided to work with the owner Theresa. Another BIG mistake on our part. She met with her and she agreed that what happened to us was not right. We were very calm and nice even though we lost out on our wedding date and over $500. Then we ran into a problem. The dress maker that Kaci from Hustle and Bustle recommended to us, started threatening us and saying she was going to come over our place if we didn't pay her. She never even started on the dress but The funny thing is that we offered to pay her many times and sign a contract but most the time she didn't respond to our emails so we decided to look elsewhere. Now you think with Theresa, she would have a little more experience and tact. But when my wife called her asking for help, she said something to the extent of "that's what happens when you try to save a buck". Yes we got a dress maker that that her company recommended and now she is telling us this. We were very sad, confused with everything. We didn't understand. Is this what wedding planners normally? Were we not nice to her after losing a lot of money. My wife and I decide to give Theresa a call and speak with her about what was going on and in the middle of our conversation she started singing to her kids. She was able to match up our vision of the wedding with the vendors, but she was also able to find the right people that matched our personalities. We knew Tanya was very helpful but didn't know how on top of things she was until we saw the wedding video. She moved around quickly and stealthily, doing things to ensure that the flow was great and effortless without being in the limelight. When people forgot to bring their champagne glasses up for the toasts, she swooped in quickly with a glass in short order. When we had forgotten to get a flower basket for the flower girl, she somehow magically produced a great basket out of nowhere. All in all, she made what could have been stressful process as stress-free as it could have been. She made sure that the actual wedding date was smooth, fun and without any problems. My wife still looks back on the wedding date and reminisces about how it was perfect and exactly what she wanted. We had just moved into a new home and our wedding budget for coordinators was tight however she graciously accepted what we had to offer. She even helped save us lots of money by negotiating with our venue over a miscommunication about the food and convincing us to do a consumption bar over open bar.
