STAY AWAY This is not my normal orthodontist, but I came here when my retainers broke and I needed replacements ASAP. It's easy to get an appointment, but both time I've been here, I've waited at least at hour to be seen. I got new retainers made and mentioned that I grind my teeth and had a night guard, so they gave me the "thickest retainer". Under a year later, the retainers are already cracking and I grinded through them. Then they mentioned that I might need a mouth guard, which I mentioned when I came in, but they said they can't do it. They named a bunch of alternatives and the appointment was maybe 10 min after waiting for over an hour to be seen. I'm never giving this place any more money. read more

I had braces for a minor issue, just some gaps. The problem is the $400 replacement fee for retainers. It's been about a year since I've had them off and I have lost the retainer and just so confused why a permanent one was not offered to keep the Gap closed (mind you it wasn't completely closed) and I think because the braces weren't doing what they were supposed to initially. My friend has been here with invisaligns. He appears to be a completely new person. In contrast, I spent over $10,000 on this, and I look exactly the same as I did before, just with a slightly smaller gap in the front. That's correct, I STILL HAVE THE GAP, which was the main reason I went to the orthodontist in the first place. All that money for them to say my pleasure when you call. read more

I have been getting the runaround regarding this matter, and I am extremely concerned about the care my minor child received. We originally came in for a routine wire change. However, during the appointment, an entire bracket came off, and my son was bleeding. When he came out of the treatment room, I noticed the issue immediately and asked him to smile. That is when I saw the missing bracket. The dental assistant did not notify me the parent about the bracket coming off or the bleeding. Instead, she simply told my son that he needed to brush his teeth better because his gums were bleeding. The bleeding was not due to poor brushing; it occurred because the wire was not properly placed and the bracket had come off. It is unacceptable that a minor was expected to communicate this information rather than the staff informing me directly. I requested to speak with the doctor that same day and was told that would not be possible until the next appointment. At our early February appointment, I made it very clear that I did not want that same dental assistant working on my child again. Despite expressing my concerns clearly, when I checked my son in, she was assigned to him again. The entire staff was aware of my request. The doctor who was on site that day also knew about my concerns, yet walked away without addressing the situation. My concerns have consistently been ignored, and I do not feel that my child's care or my parental concerns have been taken seriously. I am requesting a formal discussion with the doctor regarding this incident and the discontinuation of services if this matter cannot be handled appropriately. I have clearly advised your staff that I no longer wish to continue services. However, I am repeatedly being told that I must meet with the owner before any action can be taken. My February appointment was specifically scheduled because I was informed the owner would be present to discuss this matter. That information was inaccurate, as the owner was not available, and my concerns were not addressed. I do not appreciate being misled. At this time, please consider this written notice that my son and I will not be returning to your office for any further services. I am formally requesting that the contract be voided effective immediately. If this matter is not resolved promptly and professionally, I am prepared to pursue further action as necessary. At this point, I would have rather continued flying back to Orlando, where I originally began my orthodontic treatment, instead of experiencing the ongoing issues and lack of communication I have encountered here. I have nothing but good things to say... I called the office to inquire about setting up a consultation for braces and spoke to a young lady named Mariah (I believe) who was very welcoming and excited to help me set things up. The instructions were clear in finding the office as it's in a shared building with other offices right off of City Ave. The staff follow protocols to assure their patients that they are taking the appropriate precautions to avoid contamination of the COVID virus and anything thing else going around. They will instruct you to wash you hands, wear a mask and rinse with mouth wash while waiting to see the doctor. The doctor was super informative, and answered all of my questions. Left me feeling excited and ready to begin the steps to getting my new smile. The financing simple and there were no catches with the initial visit as it is 100% free. Not recommended. Two experiences that sum up my experience: 1) I no longer have braces but I have a piece of braces wire lodged in my cheek that an oral surgeon didn't want to remove because it's too close to a nerve. Not only that, but the oral surgeon I saw is part of a dental practice owned by Dr. Hodges. Yet I had to pay and waste time out of my day to see him so he could (unsuccessfully) attempt to fix an issue caused by the practice's own negligence. 2) This is not a practice that knows how to work with adults. At some point, they (incorrectly) assumed that I'm a tongue thruster and installed a tongue crib that left me unable to talk. After I went home and spent a couple days practicing talking with it, I called them and let them know that it needed to be removed because I had a client presentation coming up and needed to be able to talk. This was my only encounter with Dr. Hodges and boy was she condescending. I was pretty much told that I wasn't being compliant with the treatment plan by asking them to remove it. Not sure how making a patient unable to talk could be considered a realistic treatment plan. This practice seemed unable to comprehend that I have work responsibilities that require me to be able to speak coherently. The VP of my department sure did when I had an extremely embarrassing meeting with her with the tongue crib in and she could barely understand me. Their general expectation seems to be that you go in, say ahhh, then have them do whatever they feel like without explaining anything about your treatment. Not a very effective approach when working with adults. For my first 1.5 years, I had a random ortho each time. The guy I started seeing regularly would rush through the appointments and run out of the room without announcing he was leaving, not giving me a chance to ask questions or express concerns. The only time he showed interest in my treatment was to check that the piece of braces wire lodged in my cheek had been removed (probably hoping that the evidence that this happened to me was gone). I realized just how bad this practice is when I got some second opinions on my teeth from two other practices after Dr. Hodges' practice told me it was time to have my braces taken off. Both orthos took out the same model of the jaw + teeth, told me how my teeth should fall in place, told me that my teeth weren't falling into place yet, told me that I had about 3-4 months left of treatment, and showed me how my midline was misaligned. This was the most explanation of my treatment that I ever received in the three years I had braces. One ortho told me that I should go back to Dr. Hodges' practice and find a polite way to get them to continue my treatment for longer. I decided to go ahead and have my braces taken off, knowing that my teeth weren't properly aligned, because I couldn't stand the visits anymore. Throughout my whole treatment, each visit consistently had a 40 minute wait time for a 15 minute appointment. Huge waste of time. Prior to covid, the waiting room was always crammed with the TV blaring and had an overall chaotic vibe. Once covid started, it was still full! They would have you call from your car when you arrive, then immediately have you come up to sit in the full waiting room. Not a good look for healthcare providers who are working directly in patients' mouths. Overall, a disorganized practice where you're just a number in an overfilled waiting room. Prices aren't any cheaper than other practices so go elsewhere. read more

The front desk clerks are good as well however the young girls as well as the managers are very UNPROFESSIONAL. There are several different orthodontist that work here and they too could careless and not attentive to what you want when it comes to your teeth. I've had a gap since I'd gotten all of my adult teeth. When I finally decided to try Invisalign, I was referred to Dr. Hodges at her Bensalem office. I was nervous at first (all dentist offices make me nervous) but as soon as I walked in I fell in love. The office has such a beautiful energy, as well as the staff. Every time I walked in for my appointments, I was greeted with cookies, coffee, toothbrushes to take home, and various other treats throughout the year. Dr. Hodges and her staff took the best care of my teeth over the 18 months I spent in treatment. Most of her staff has been there for over 15 years, and after talking with Dr. Hodges for the first time, theres no secret as to why. Ive had braces as a child. Each appt should not take 2 hours!!!! We are almost done our treatment but if i had to do it again I wouldnt. They must overbook and corrale patients into the back waiting area, so as not to crowd the front waiting room. At my most recent visit (2hrs again) the girl at checkout was on the phone in midst of giving me the next appt. I stood there waiting, over 5minutes, right in front of her, midtransaction!, she kept on the phone and i left. Her personality was so warm and caring. Right away I knew I was in safe hands. She apologized for the miscommunication and completed my appointment. I was more than pleased with my results once my braces came off. I couldn't stop smiling and neither could Linda. I went to the Montgomeryville location starting 2001 and had my braces in for about 2 1/2 years. I had a slight underbite so basically she pulled my bottom teeth in to give me an overbite. In doing that, my bottom front and side gums receded a lot (I was not told that this would be a side effect). I had to get some bottom side teeth pulled (per Dr. Hodges) before getting the braces, so that's why the gums on the side receded. During every visit, she always rushed through and never really told me what was going on. I guess since I was an adult and there wasn't a parent there asking questions, she didn't bother to tell me much. In retrospect, I should have asked more questions and done more research. The primary reasons that I went with Dr. Hodges were because she had good hours and was close by. In retrospect, those weren't good reasons. I only had to get my braces adjusted once every few months, so it wouldn't be a big deal if I had to take off a few hours from work to get that done. And if I had to drive an hour or so, that's fine since it'd only be a few times a year. Dr. Hodges does dress and present herself in a professional manner, but that doesn't speak for her work. Had I known that my gums would have receded like this, I might not have gone through with the braces. The orthodontists always make it out like if you don't get your underbite fixed you'll have a lot of problems later on. Yeah, an underbite is not ideal, but look at how many older people have slight underbites. I don't think most of them have any major dental issues. So instead of having an underbite, I now have receding gums to worry about. I've gone to a periodontist (gum specialist) and basically I'd need a gum graft which requires a few visits. I don't know how Dr. Hodges is now, but back then it seemed like her office was a mill--get as many patients in and out as quickly as possible. I am so excited to have found this office! The team here is friendly and professional. Each time we have visited the office we have been greeted with a smile and had a short wait before being called in the back. One of my biggest pet peeves is when offices double/ triple book and you end up waiting forever just to be seen for a scheduled appointment. I have not experienced any of that here. My kids both got braces in December and both were very nervous. The team took the time to explain what was going on at each step and constantly checked to make sure they were ok. Once the braces were on they were given a "swag bag" of dental goodies and told how and when to use each item. Great Attention to detail! This orthodontist claims to offer you a "no strings" free consultation. Free means you don't pay and just get information right?? Not at Dr. Hodges City Ave office!! They will bring you in, show you a waiting area, show an exhibit of toothbrushes sitting on a sink and then take x-rays. Afterwards the "free consultation" is based on the $149.00 x-rays you took. So, I got braces today. This is my second time around; I had the other braces from an ortho out of state. I am going to post periodic reviews, as I was very impressed and I'm curious to see if it will be short lived. I was referred to this practice by 3 different individuals, so I decided to give it a go. I have a large gap between my two front teeth, and I was not given a permanent retainer after my original braces. Needless to say it opened back up, and I would like the "perfect" smile since I am not satisfied with the way my current smile photographs. So, I scheduled a consultation. I was very surprised at how quickly I was scheduled. About a week later, I arrived full of curiosity. I usually schedule errands for first thing in the morning. I arrived about 45 mins early for my appointment, the office manager was filling in at the front desk until all of the staff arrived. She entertained me with pleasant, stimulating conversation until it was my turn to be seen. This in itself impressed me, as I am easily very bored with small talk, so I usually find something menial to entertain myself. After having a brief tour of the office, I was seen by the associate Dr for a consult. A pleasant ortho tech took all of my molds and photos. I was made to feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. I left that day with my spacers, in anticipation of braces installment the following week. Today, was install day. I again arrived about 45 mins early for my 9am appointment. I entertained myself with some reading material until it was my turn to be seen. The wait time is very reasonable considering I was scheduled as their first appointment, as well as arriving very early. I was greeted by a different tech than my consult. She was very professional and pleasant as well, and did her very best to make me comfortable. She explained the process, and each step before taking action. Even though they knew it was my second time around, they did not feel the need to cut any corners in the explanation department. I enjoy things like that. After getting my braces installed and instructions for care I was sent home with a kit and a t-shirt. Later in the day, and rep from the company called to see how I was doing, and to ask if I had any questions. I thought that was a nice touch. I am HUGE on customer service. Though they are almost twice the price as the first time I got braces, they have been very thorough and I am confident I will get the permanent results I desire. This experience exceeds the first one greatly by far. All in all, I am currently very impressed. I often make it my business to patronize Black owned businesses, and I am disappointed more often than I'd like to admit. That is surely not the case here. I will post periodic reviews, as I would like to be as honest about this experience as possible. I have been projected to wear my braces for about 28 months, so I will try to post every 6-8 months. Dr Hodges and Dr Woods are THE BEST!!! I had my braces on for a little over 2 years and I AM IN LOVEEEE with my teeth. I have to mention how anal Dr woods was when it came to how my teeth looked at the end....he made my teeth look PERFECT and I am not over exaggerating!!! I can't stop looking in the mirror. (I'm looking as I type this)...They also made sure my braces were off just in time for graduation. The price was reasonable, they were flexible and VERY professional. The dental assistants (I think that's what they're called) were also good as well. Chelsea took my braces off and she was just so sweet and patient with all of my questions! Completely unhappy with this office. I am in the middle of treatment for my daughter and if I could switch doctors, I would. This seems like a high volume office where getting bodies in and out are the top priority. I feel like Dr. Hodges cares more about cash then her patients. As a matter of fact, we saw her for the consult, but have never seen her in any of our visits. My other daughter will need braces and we will not be returning. In 2014 I was referred to Kellyn Hodges Orthodontics by a friend and I'll be forever grateful. Growing up I hated my teeth and made it a goal to fix them as soon as I became of age and financially able to. I jumped at the opportunity to work with Dr. Hodges and her team. They were very professional, kind and welcoming to new and current patients. Just like any other place of business they had very busy days with lots of patients but a little patience goes a long way. I got to work with my favorite, Jennifer and I must emphasize FAVORITEEE because she was the absolute best. Jenn was always just the sweetest and she took very good care of me all the time. Any questions I may have had she had me covered. We always had a good time and great laughs, she was just phenomenal and I thank her for assisting me during each of my visits! All of the assistants were great and knew what they were doing. It is now three and a half years later and I must say I am in LOVEE with my teeth and the beautiful smile I now have. I just got my braces taken off and the compliments are nonstop and it's the best feeling ever. My son has been a patient here for a little while now and all of the experiences that I have had as a parent are just what I expected. I can't say that the braces are done right or wrong because this isn't my line of work. All I can do is listen to their professional opinions, do a little research, and ask questions, then do whatever I feel is best. I just saw a review that talks about an experience 13 years ago which was odd. The other 2 reviews said that they felt rushed but I've never felt rushed. I left once or twice wondering some things but guess what? I should've asked questions! If I go to class and my teacher gives a lesson for the entire semester and I didn't raise my hand to ask a single question how in the hell would she know that I didn't understand the lesson? People don't ask questions and then blame everyone else. That's not cool.....But I digress. There are a good number of employees and I have never had a long wait time. I rarely see dental offices that have more than 6 employees so every experience there is very personal so if that's what you seek, make sure you choose a small dental office. If you like convenient hours, short wait times and decent work and you don't care about all the extra fluff stuff, choose this place. I go to a different dentist for my teeth and that's because I need the personal experience. At this age, I'm still terrified of dental work and at my dentist they take their time and make me extremely comfortable because they can do that in smaller offices but guess what? I pay top dollar for dental work too! So there's a trade off. Nothing is perfect. Everything has a pro and everything has a con, whether you realize it initially or not. I advise that you go and see it for yourself because I'm sure you won't have a negative experience enough to come and bash the place because I have never had anywhere near a negative experience and I've never seen anyone contesting something or being pissed off or arguing down someone with hostility or anything like that.
