Consistently one of my favorite bars in Pittsburgh for a fun nightcap and a snack! The vibes are cozy and comforting, with just enough worn-in charm to feel at home and relaxed. I've yet to have a bad cocktail here, and they have a fantastic list of classic drinks. The first time I visited Kelly's, I was floored by the fact that they didn't just have a few drafts and a basic list of 2-ingredient cocktails. They have great craft beverages and very good food! The service is always friendly and swift. It's hard to think of a better place to sit for an hour or two with friends and catch up over a martini or a godfather or a French 75 (and fries, of course). It's no surprise that Anthony Bourdain visited this beloved bar in his Parts Unknown episode! Long live Kelly's!

Kelly's is your typical hole in the wall with great bar food. The inside is super dark and there's bar seating as well as some smaller booths available. There is also seating available on their patio out back. Our server was nice and patient. I thought our cocktails were decent and reasonably priced for what they were. They have your basics and they're sticking to them. The food was delicious fried bar food. Overall, a solid dive bar that is open every day of the week.

This place was a whole vibe! Before walking in you'd think it was a drive bar and sketchy. Do not let this deter you! I repeat, do not let it deter you! Go inside! The food is delicious and top notch. The service is friendly and quick. They've got a bar full with many selections but I love how it had local beers you could pick from. Especially the sour beers. It's hard to find sour beers and they had three to choose from, all three local! I loved the vibe too. The pink hue, the dark lighting, and the 80s music just took you back in time to good days! It's a little loud because the music so if youre going for an intimate chat, probably not the best place. But id still go for a date, a friend's night out, or just dinner! I will be coming here again while in the area. It's decently priced as well.

Best dive bar in Pittsburgh. Can't beat their rotating $5 cocktail and the best fries ever. Great service and hidden gem within East Liberty.

Tried the famous Mac & Cheese! Definitely good but did not blow my socks off. In fact, I had Goodles (healthy box Mac & Cheese) before I went and probably enjoyed it just as much. Overall I do think the pricing of the food was good, but it was SUPER hot in the bar...like uncomfortably stuffy

Kelly's is exactly what I want in a neighborhood bar. It's small. It's dark. There is one side which hosts a massive rail and other intimate booths which run parallel. The music was on point all evening. We came after a Pirates game and it was slammed, after waiting for five minutes we got a table. The food here is homey. Massive portions and definitely proper pub food. Went with the fish sandwich, Cajun meatloaf and Mac and cheese. The fish sandwich is massive. It needs sauce, so make sure to coat the boat in provided tarter. The meatloaf had a nice kick and was smothered in perfectly cooked onions. The Mac and cheese was good, albeit not the most amazing and didn't live up to the hype for me. I would, however, order it again. If you're looking for a cool spot in a gentrified neighborhood, Kelly's is your go-to.

I started coming here because I live walking distance to it now. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a really fun atmosphere when you go in! It feels like a diner but it serves great cocktails and food. They also have really good vegan options surprisingly too! This is a great spot that my girlfriend and I like to come to.

It was exactly what my friends were looking for after dinner down the street. The cigars, drinks, were well-priced (although it is cash-only). The laid back vibe and tucked in booths were appreciated because we were in our own little world talking away. I don't have much to say about the bartenders because I didn't really interact with them. I think the only recommendation I have is to put the cigars in a humidor rather than a plastic bin. That was a bit off-putting.

But after about a month of severe internal struggle (divorce, CPS, the whole gambit), and at the behest of some caring friends, I finally feel compelled to tell my story. On March 16th, my wife and I were out celebrating Stone Cold day (and also our child to be) with some friends. We were all feeling okay, having an alright time remembering some of the Texas Rattlesnake's best moments of the Attitude Era at one of the least interesting spots the city has to offer. My wife's cousin ordered us all a round of shots (I must stress that this is the only shot my wife took, we're not monsters!) when shit suddenly got real. My wife, or, "ex-wife" I guess (gotta get used to saying that) just chased her shot with some of my IPA whenever one of the bartenders started squaring up on my wife's cousin. The bartender (some schlubby guy who kept talking about how his "night elf" was supposed to be selling iron ore on the auction house??) came around the bar, took his shirt off (unfortunately) and started yelling at my wife's cousin about something called a "molten core." This bartender called by wife's cousin a "beta cuck" while some old crone in the back (surely not unlike a harpy enemy in one of this bartender's favorite games) continued to squawk "NOBODY WANTS YOU HERE!!!" while feathers were flying everywhere and landing in patrons' drinks. It was at this moment that my wife went into labor. The bartenders were super pissed off that her water broke everywhere and that they had to do something besides flex and yell at people. Now I will say, they all did there part to help make sure the baby was delivered safely. Even the crone I mentioned gave us one of her nests to place the fresh babe into (shocker!) But, to my surprise, my sweet baby son wasn't in that nest for more than four minutes when the aforementioned bartender started calling my newborn a "beta cuck." Then the other male bartender came around, also took his shirt off, and started trying to challenge my newborn to a fight. I got the sense that the two bartenders were in the same fantasy guild, but I don't know for sure. All this to say, were it not for a bunch of man-children running some kind of excuse for a bar, I'd still have a wife and a child. My newborn child has more balls than any employee here does. Mardi Gras?? What an insult.

My friend and I come here every Friday for happy hour. Over the past few weeks, we noticed that our tabs didn't seem to match what we were actually drinking, so this time I decided to ask for our receipts. That's when we saw we were both charged for shots of Espolón tequila--something neither of us ordered. I was drinking margaritas and always ask for well tequila in mixed drinks. This makes me wonder how many times we've been charged for drinks we never had. Completely unacceptable. When we brought this up, we were told to speak with the manager to correct the tab. He was extremely rude and immediately accused us of ordering the shots, even though he wasn't present. He was more focused on watching RuPaul than helping. He then claimed my card had been declined weeks earlier, which forced me to call my bank and dispute a double charge. Thanks for the extra hassle. You come here expecting a good time and leave not wanting to return. Management clearly needs to address issues with staff to prevent this from continuing. That so-called manager has no business working in customer service. I've only seen him on Fridays and Saturdays--about 5'10", skinny, wearing sweats and a gray Carhartt beanie. He's always rude, but this encounter was beyond the limit. This happened around 9-10pm in the middle bar. If you decide to come here, be careful and always ask for your receipt--otherwise, you may end up overcharged.

We randomly walked into it and got very lucky. We ordered the masa pancakes, breakfast burrito, and al pastor tacos. Unreal across the board. The pancakes had these crispy, buttery edges with incredible flavor and syrup. The burrito was perfect, every bite hit and you could tell the tortilla was homemade. And the al pastor tacos were insane, honestly better than what I've had in California and Mexico. We were completely full and still kept eating like idiots because it was that good. Service somehow matched the food: * Lacy (server) was awesome, attentive, sweet and dialed in * Ella (host) set the tone right away with a warm welcome * Migdalia (bar) crushed it, (jumping bean is to die for) * Olivia (AGM) clearly runs a tight operation, she was friendly, passionate and made sure to check in with us You can feel that people actually care here, which is rare. The manager was the only person that seemed professional and attentive. Bar seating was so uncomfortable that I ended up standing for some of my meal. Entered around 7:45 and was told it was 45 minutes for a seat so we gladly took bar seating. Staff initially politely greeted us. We ordered our appetizers and a drink. My girlfriend's espresso martini was stiff and flavorless. The tostado de atún & flauta de tinga were both good. The problems started after our apps. We waited quite some time before the bartenders asked us what we wanted for an entree. For a period of time our waters were empty. Our dinners came out and the birria was okay but not great, kind of a watered down broth with an aftertaste of spice. The gringa al pastor tacos were good. The pollo rostizado was too messy to want to eat in a restaurant. The bar lighting was also so dim that my friend didn't realize the color difference to realize what was salsa vs black beans. We then waited at least fifteen minutes after our meals were finished if we wanted dessert. There were two bartenders that didn't seem to communicate at all so one asked us if we needed anything else after we were waiting 10+ minutes for our desserts already. The desserts - flan & tamal de cacao - were fine. The flan was thicker & creamier than most, which I preferred and had a strong caramel taste if that's your thing. The mousse was airy but the tamal was 99% corn and 1% chocolate flavoring.

There is a hard start time as the tasting menu is done in a large group setting-serving everyone at once. So, we found ourselves wandering around the neighborhood and then standing in front of the door waiting for 6pm to strike, I felt like a creep. The area itself is an open floor plan so when they welcome you in, it's confusing to see the table we will be seated around but also see little stations for the canapés. Little awkward. We found a two-seater, and as a plus size woman I felt a bit cramped. My husband and I are both tall (5'11" and 6'3" so we were both fighting over who got the bench seat vs the little stool. There's always that awkwardness when you're looking around trying to figure out what the heck is about to happen and wondering..when is it time to EAT. We did 3 or 4 canapés which were all enjoyable-one that stands out to me had goat cheese and beets-yum! We are asked to take our seats at the large table and ...awkward again bc we are just kind of all looking around waiting. I have a sensitivity to alcohol so I did the N.A. pairing and I didn't feel like I missed out on much. The sommelier did a great job at explaining the notes and why each pairing happened. I really enjoyed the tasting menu. The chef kept us abreast of what we were trying and looped in other accompanying staff which gave us some of their backstory which was nice. I love that the restaurant has an urban garden and tries to reduce waste-that's so important. Minus 1 star because of the clunkiness of the bench area vs the large table where we ate and the cost. $275/pp plus tip isn't something that many can swing in a blue collar city.

I've pondered for about two weeks whether I wanted to post this review, but it is my honest experience. I've experienced a lot of tasting menus, including a ridiculous number of James Beard and Michelin-level restaurants, so I had high expectations. The atmosphere felt more casual than anticipated, and the space--surrounded by fermenting and dehydrating equipment--wasn't the elevated setting I associate with a $275 tasting. The noise from the machines during the first part of the meal was also distracting. It still felt like a place that was recently converted from a different concept. I know they are showcasing different was of preparation but the setup was cluttering. Service and pacing never quite clicked. Guests start in a lounge and are served about five canapés with an awkward pace and sequence. The lounge area isn't unique and doesn't feel distinctly set apart from the dining room, and the entire 6 p.m. seating hinges on everyone arriving on time. When several diners showed up late, the evening's rhythm stalled before the first course even landed--an unfortunate distraction for a format that relies on flow. The food showcases some thoughtful ideas, but the execution struggled, with some dishes having way too many ideas and/or elements. Very little was memorable, and many dishes arrived lukewarm, if not cool. Unlike most chef's counters and/or tasting menus where the kitchen and assembly are combined, Spork carries all the plates and cooked ingredients from the kitchen to a cold stainless steel counter, then assembles for guests. The result is a disjointed service and errors in food quality. The required drink pairing added a significant cost, and while a few pours worked well, others overshadowed the dishes instead of lifting them (cocktails specifically). But they actually grow many of their own herbs and vegetables right next door and most of dishes looked great. The Maine scallop with calamari was the standout. I have no issue spending hundreds for a great dining experience, but for $275 + tax + tip...I expected a more polished and cohesive experience, and much better execution with the food--temperature and flavor. With some adjustments around the dishes, service, and the mandatory pairing, it could come closer to matching the price point.
