Wow. I hadn't been here in forever! I worked at an office just down the street and we would often order takeout for lunch. The other day I stopped by for a friend for lunch and we weren't disappointed. He got the wings and loved them. I had fries (couldn't finish, they give you a lot) and a grilled cheese sandwich with pickles and tomatoes. Food is typical bar fare. Nothing fancy but good. Service is totally Pittsburgh-friendly & funny. There isn't anything fancy about this place and there doesn't need to be when the food is good and the drinks are cold. read more

Pretty much your typical bar atmosphere for lunch. Nothing special, but okay. The service was friendly and the food was decent, tho I was a bit annoyed that my chicken bacon ranch wrap didn't have the ranch on it. We are staying outside of Pittsburgh following a wedding. The host of our Airbnb as well as local reviews sent us to this establishment to watch Sunday football. Prior to halftime of the 4:00 games, the sound suddenly went to country music and all TVs became silent! We had not finished our meals or beverages and since we intended to stay for several more hours asked the waitress what was going on and could we get the sound back for the games. She said that the owners sister was currently in charge and said she did care and they would be listening to music. We explained to our poor waitress the fact that their establishment had been highly recommended for Sunday football and when she returned from talking with "the boss" she said that again, the current manager said she did not care. We paid our bill and left, but the next time we come through town and highly advise anyone else to avoid this Sports bar if you are true sports fans. The food was good, but we had to take ours to go so as to be able to enjoy our Sunday football. Avoid this place.....definitely NOT a good choice for a sports bar. read more

Food was bland and taste like dirty. The chicken wings had not one speckle of seasoning. The breading was like cardboard and the chicken was hot but dry as heck. Blinky's is a great little neighborhood bar/restaurant with great food. We've only just started going there but we already consider this our "spot". The wait staff is incredible-Tara is so friendly, helpful and has a great memory for our drinks-after us only going a few times! Great waitress! Everyone there so far is awesome. The food--yum! The wings are INCREDIBLE and the best we've had! They made them exactly as we asked-extra crispy (I know, I know-don't come for me-I like my wings on the drier side). The honey jalapeño sauce was soooo good and even plain or with dry ranch-they are awesome. The gigantic Mac and cheese balls are over the top and the mushrooms and also the fried pickles are so good. The patty melt sandwich and fries is delicious-they use good ground beef for their burgers. Oh, and Tuesday evening is 50c pizza squares and let me tell you-they are delicious-good quality cheese, crust and toppings!!! Nice place with the dining area separated from the bar with large windows. We love this place and think you will too! The Yuengling is cold and satisfying. I mean, it's a dive bar. It doesn't pretend to be otherwise so I guess that's a point. It's divided into 2 parts, a restaurant side and a bar side. Nice size TVs and a cool jukebox thing. Drinks were a little gross, but decent priced. Service was awful. She took forever and showed little interest in us. The atmosphere is pretty yinzer, which is cool. The chairs are uncomfortable and unattractive. Tables are super small and a bit awkward if you're short. I wouldn't pick this myself but I can suck it up for someone else. read more

This Grill has a big bar area with side tables and booths in another section, so the service in both areas are good. I recommend the big fish sandwich dinner... one of the best in the area! read more

Very good bar food especially the fish. They are well known for the biggest fish and they are big and tasty.

Service is REALLY slow, the waitresses are not very friendly and they have no clue what is going on. Dont expect to be in and out quick. We have gone for lunch since it is close to our office and you will see retirees sitting at the bar drinking at 11:30 AM, they allow smoking so avoid this place if it bothers you. Food is not worth the wait, although it is cheap...which means its not high qaulity. read more

This is one of my families favorite restaurants. The service is (usually) very good, although there were times when the waitresses forgot to put in something we ordered or it has taken way to long to get food even when the restaurant is empty. They know who you are after a few visits and are incredibly friendly. The food is great! I have tried numerous things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Their honey jalapeño wings are out of this world. Great hoagies and sandwiches. All of the menu items are very inexpensive, which is a huge bonus. If you go in the day the ladies at the bar will roll their eyes at the thought of pouring you a draft or getting you soup. In the dining room at night they will roll your eyes when you come in. They will tell you how badly they want to go home and how tired they are. They will make you wait 10 minutes for menus and then complain that you're not ordering for cleanup because the kitchen is closing in half an hour. Can you order an appetizer and I'll say the cooks will kill you because they have to cut all that cheese. Other than popping in for a beer when the loan mail bartender is working, I have never had a good experience. This place has average food with bar subpar service. Overall this place is the definition of "Just okay". The food is actually pretty cheap and on the whole is not that bad, toss in free popcorn and there are worse places to eat when you want bar food. The wings are my favorite thing to get but they are only good (I.e. Not dry and overcooked) about half of the time so it's a toss up whether or not you will enjoy them. The real draw back is the service. The waitresses are uninterested at best and downright rude at worst. They always seem like it is an inconvenience that you are there. One time a waitress just stared at us with a scowl on her face from the other room because we had sat down at a table with a group of friends on a Saturday night (at like midnight) and so she couldn't leave as long as someone was sitting at a table. We weren't there to eat, the kitchen was closed, and we found out that she didn't have to stay at all after all so she was rude to us for no reason. Went there to watch the NFL playoffs. They have an AMEX sticker on their door and when it came time to pay I handed them my AMEX card. They refused to accept it. What? The manager treated me like I was a criminal trying to skip out on a $24 tab when that was the only card I had. Super embarrassing. I was rudely told to check the door for an AMEX sticker next time I go somewhere, and sure enough it was there when I pointed it out. Once again. What? On top of that they turned off the NFL playoffs for a regular season Penguins game without warning. Honestly the worst wait staff I've ever encountered. Didn't even end up staying to eat because of how rude they were to my friends and I. There were 5 of us and when we first sat down we went to the bar and the bartender rolled her eyes and acted like we were the biggest inconvenience so we moved to a table where the server stood giving us a dirty look for 5 minutes before she came and greeted us and then came up to us so rude we didn't even try to talk to her and order. I've lived 3 blocks from Blinky's for the last five years, and I've only been here about 6 times. So how can I give this place 5 stars when I'm never here? Well I'll tell you: smoke free, great food, CHEAP drinks, and probably my favorite part, absolutely Zero attitude. So why don't I come here more often? That's a question that I ask myself on a regular basis. The only reason that I can come up with, is because I'm 28, and most of my friends want to go to Larryville, downtown, south side, etc. I'd say the average age of the Patrons at Blinky's is probably 50, and 80% of them are men. Which I enjoy in a solid local bar, but it's hard to sell that to my friends. Anyways, if you want a great laid back bar experience, then you can't go wrong with Blinky's. Well, the other comments seem to be right on target. Good food, but service is horrible. Waited 20 minutes for a waitress. They even looked right at us a few times then looked away. When we saw the couple who came in after us get food we got up and chased someone down. Waitress finally came over and was unapologetic, basically blaming us for no service because we had bought drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. The food did come pretty quick and was good but they never offered to refill our drinks. Also, they were out of coleslaw and told us 3 times it would be taken off the bill.
