Store is not large, but aisles are full of variety, and will save you a trip to larger metro areas. Nice to have this sort of grocery local, will be able to replenish our supplies without planning a trip out of the area.

The moment you step through the door, it's as if you've been transported back in time to a simpler era where life moved a little slower and everything was made with care. Side note: I completely regret not getting the names of the two young ladies working in the Tea House and the gentleman operating the Gritsmill. Rookie mistake on my part. But I digress. While chatting with the young ladies, they shared some fascinating history about the mill. They told me the gristmill itself was transported all the way from New Jersey to its current home. Even more impressive, the millstone still being used today to grind wheat into flour is over 200 years old and came from France. Talk about a piece of living history! The store itself is spotless, neatly organized, and exceptionally well maintained. The two young ladies were friendly, welcoming, and eager to answer questions and help however they could. Now for the important stuff--the goodies. They make their own cookies, including oatmeal and chocolate chip, along with fresh scones and pastries. Naturally, I exercised great self-control and bought one of each to enjoy later with a cup of coffee. It seemed like the responsible thing to do. From the Gritsmill, we picked up two bags of grits, some scone flour, and a small jar of peanut butter. Unfortunately, we were still stuffed from lunch and couldn't do the Tea House justice by enjoying a cup of tea. Sometimes life presents difficult challenges. The gristmill at Homestead Heritage is really interesting.
