Decided to give the Cheddar Box a try while at the Magnolia Market in Waco. We went with the Happy Couple which is a gourmet cheese sandwich (The Boss) and soup (Tomato Basil soup). The Boss which is Bacon, Gouda and Basil grilled cheese was pretty good. It was very crispy, buttery and the cheese pull was definitely there. The soup was a little lack luster. Tasted like marinera sauce more than anything. Nothing was horrible. Nothing was amazing. It was just ok.
I am visiting Waco this weekend and I had to check out the magnolia shops area. I saw this food truck and decided to check it out. The lady taking our order was really nice and got us checked out fast. I ordered the old school add bacon with chips. They are advertised as gourmet, but I didn't get that vibe. The sandwhich was on regular bread and had no extra pizzazz. I felt like I could have made a better one at home. The bacon that I added really made the sandwhich. I would not reccomend them as a gourmet grilled cheese but maybe the other ones are better.
Stopped into magnolia market specifically for the food trucks. I wasn't sure if they'd be open with it being such a rainy day, but they were! They were having a bit of a problem with their card reader since it got wet but we made it happen with cashapp. I got the power couple- grilled cheese and mac combo with a rasp rosemary lemonade. The price for the drink was steep but it was very large. My food was delish. I was grateful for a small menu bc making decisions is hard! I ate some of my food fresh and hot and a bunch of it later when it was cold. Its still delish cold. Cant go wrong with grilled cheese and mac and cheese!
We visited the Silos. We got hungry and decided to look around and see what would catch our eyes. I saw a couple of people walking around with grilled cheese and I knew it was a sign. The menu is pretty simple. I decided to go for the POWER COUPLE because it had the two things I wanted to try. A gourmet grilled cheese sandwich and a side of Mac n' Cheese. I went with THE BOSS; bacon, gouda, and basil on sourdough. It was tasty and wish I didn't share with my husband. It really is only good for one. Unless you're not that hungry. The price is good, the food was delicious, and the service was great! Overall a good option from the array of food trucks they offer. I also like that they ingredients were all locally sourced. Kudos!
We tried this spot while at the silos today and it was pretty good. Staff was friendly, food was made fresh to order and didn't take long to get. I do think the sandwich was a bit overpriced.. especially for how small it was and how little ingredients you get. I couldn't taste the bacon at all on the sandwich, couldn't tell you it had it even though it was supposed to. With that being said, you're at the silos so you can't expect to not pay a little bit more for convenience. I definitely wouldn't eat here again but you can't really go wrong. It's a grilled cheese, nothing more, nothing less.

They only actually had two types of grilled cheese sandwiches...your basic grilled cheese and the Boss, which had Gouda (I think), bacon, and basil. We got both plus sides of the Mac and cheese. The sandwiches aren't huge, but the flavor is pretty good. The sides of Mac and cheese were really good. Quite rich. Three of those combos and two drinks were around $42, not to mention my giant $9 sweet tea from Alabama Sweet Tea. It was all pretty good, but I'll likely try someplace else if I'm here at Magnolia again.

Be prepared to wait for 25-30 minutes for waiting to order and waiting for your food to be ready. Be sure to order the Wacoan since it's made with local cheese. We also ordered the one with bacon in it. Not bad for what it is, it comes with kettle chips.
This food truck is a MUST visit when stopping at Magnolia Market. The food is incredible. Who doesn't love a good grilled cheese sandwich! I came here on a super cold day so a nice classic grilled cheese with a side of Mac and Cheese is just what I needed. The sourdough bread had a great crunch to it, and the cheese to bread ratio was spot on. The staff was super friendly, and the food came out super quick! Will definitely be back when I'm in town!
The Cheddar Box food truck at Chip and JoJo Gaines' Magnolia Market Silos serves exquisite tasting Mac 'n Cheese and Grill Cheese Sandwiches. My better half ordered from here and by far, it had the longes lines and wait time. But just as the 900 Degrees Wood Fire Pizza is well worth it, Cheddar Box is too. I would suggest taking turns waiting to pickup your food. Texas humidity, heat and all. The three or four cheeses they use are perfectly blended with a layer of flavor and your taste buds will jump for joy. Yes, it's Five Stars! Yes, I know it's a food truck! But you'll thank me later after your 30 minute wait. Get both the Grilled Cheese sandwich and the Mac 'n Cheese. Trust me. Enjoy!

Visited Waco, Texas this weekend and tried the Lone Star Grilled Cheese, which had brisket and cheddar on sourdough bread. It was warm and delicious, though it could have used more brisket, the pieces were small and there weren't many of them. We also ordered a side of tomato basil soup. It was good for dipping the grilled cheese, but I didn't enjoy it much on its own. There was no line, but the service still took a bit longer than expected. That said, I loved the Magnolia feel of the place. The ambiance was very family-oriented, with awesome music playing and plenty of great seating to relax and enjoy the meal. read more
Excited to try a new cheesy food truck and take in the view of the Silos at this Waco favorite. You can order at the food truck, on your phone in advance, or by scanning the QR code nearby. It's great to have options! They have a limited menu - all cheesy goodness-based. The Mac n' cheese was good - decadent - and ooey gooey cheesy. The noodles were firm enough and the little container was one of my favorite to-go containers for soggy food that I've seen. The Original grilled cheese sandwich was also good, the bread fresh and buttered. Overall fun stop if you are in the mood for a cheese-based meal. read more

Had their grilled cheese and Mac&cheese. The mac cheese is special, delicious but kind of salty. The flavor is pretty good tho. The grill cheese is great! Lots of cheese in it. And the bread is good as well. The waiting line is long, and waited around 25ish. read more

GRILLED CHEESE LOVERS UNITE! HIGH PRAISE for this food truck eats, situated on the hallowed grounds of the Magnolia Market and Silos "estate" on Webster Ave in Waco. An out-of-town girls trip brought us to Magnolia-land - 2 full days of touring, gawking and shopping all things Fixer Upper-inspired on a Fri and Sat. Because we shopped the first day (Friday) of the 2-day visit at the main attraction Market-Silos, we returned the next day (Saturday) in the mid afternoon (2PMish) not to shop but specifically to check out the famous food truck offerings lining the property (NO WAITING IN LINE just to come onto the property grounds to hang out on the green and partake of the food trucks.). We couldn't leave Waco without saying we had eaten at one of the Silo food trucks! Breaking up the visit to the Silos into 2 trips allowed us to take in and extend our enjoyment of the Market-Silos area twice (what's not to love about that?!) and see different things both days since that Webster Avenue area offers so much to do (Market-Silos, food trucks, Bakery, Magnolia Press (and the "coming soon" Magnolia Home showroom (!!)), The Findery, Rustico, Jimmy Don's pop up shop to name a few). PLAN AHEAD. We went to Magnolia Table (a drive from the Silos) for an early bfast (see my review!) which timed our hunger pangs just right for a mid-afternoon lunch - which led us back to the Silos to check out the food truck fare - PERFECT TIMING. We happily missed the 12noon lunch crush though even at 2PM, there were lines at each truck. I recommend advance planning the evening before or in the morning over breakfast (skip the sad free hotel bfast buffet and head to Magnolia Table for a proper comfort food hot breakfast!) to size up the food truck menu options (Hello Yelp!!) so you're not spending precious time trying to make a decision there on the spot (like we did...lesson learned!). Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup sounded like the perfect comfort-food-combo! Expect to wait in line to step up to order and then wait again for them to call your order. Bad news - the wait. Good news - the fact that everything is truly made to order. Don't fret about finding a table to eat at - there are PLENTY of community tables on the green, benches lining the green and, worst case, astro turf seating in a pinch. Thankfully, Cheddar Box menu choices are limited so decision making is easy. One of us ordered the Power Couple combo - The Boss grilled cheese with a side of mac&cheese. The other ordered the Happy Couple combo - Old School grilled cheese with a side of tomato basil soup. We agreed to share half of each sandwich, mac&cheese and tomato soup so we both got to sample everything. :) When we got our order and unwrapped the goodies, everything was PIPING HOT! The grilled cheese halves when pulled apart had the classic string of cheese hanging from each half! The bread was nicely toasted and crisped. The sandwiches were NOT overly greasy or messy - HURRAY! In fact, the bright yellow paper that each sandwich was carefully wrapped in not only kept the sandwich toasty-warm but also seemed to prevent the sandwich from self-condensating (is that not a word?) and becoming limp, soft and soggy. The sandwiches remained perfectly crisp throughout! The tomato soup was delicious! Awesomely flavorful, densely rich and creamy with that hint of basil. The side o' mac&cheese was packed with perfectly chewy-cooked noodles smothered in gooey cheese - it could have been a meal in itself, no lie. SOOOO GOOOOD. The 2 combo meals and a bottle of Andy's Fresh Squeezed Lemonade was just right for a mid afternoon lunch meal for the 2 of us. What I especially love and appreciate about the whole Magnolia "experience" is that while Chip & Jo (yes, we're on a first name basis haha) and, by association their partner vendors, could totally get away with jacking up prices (think Disney World $8 bottled waters, $10 bags of buttered popcorn at the movie theaters or $15 hot dog and soda combos at concert and sports venues - UGH!), they don't! Prices are super reasonable for what you get and for the super high quality of the food. Bottom Line: If you love good ol' down home comfort food - specifically a tasty, gooey, buttery, toasty grilled cheese sandwich coupled with a creamy, flavorful tomato basil soup or a cup densely packed with perfectly al dente, chewy-cheesy mac&cheese - YOUR SEARCH ENDS AT THE ORDERING WINDOW OF CHEDDAR BOX! read more

Family had three Grilled cheese sandwiches on Sourdough bread. Also had grilled Mac N Cheese. everyone loved the meal and set ice was quick. We stopped later in the day and not during lunch hour. Well worth the time and love the varied options at the Silo's n Waco. read more

I visited Magnolia Market from out of town and now I'm tempted to keep coming back just for this mac and cheese!! We got the mac daddy and old school sandwich and both were delicious. The mac daddy was so flavorful! You can tell they use quality cheese. The staff is super friendly, too! read more
I had the boss grilled cheese sandwich and some plain kettle chips. This sandwich was ooey and gooey in all the right places. Would have got some soup but it was a little warm outside when we tried it. The man taking our orders was very polite and excited to be there. They have a prime spot on the silos grounds. If you make it to the magnolia silos do yourself a favor and stop here. read more

Went there with a sandwich on the mind but walked away with a cup of mac and cheese instead. No complaints there because it was good and filling and the taste was on point. We got the Uncle Rico which was infused with brisket. The whole shebang was luxurious, had great texture and consistency, and tasted really good. Quality stuff! read more
Not a bad place for grilled cheese! I only reason I have it 3 stars was because of price. It was a little too expensive for a grilled cheese with sourdough bread and white cheddar cheese. It's a food truck location so of course it'll be a little pricey. I ordered the wacoan, that's a simple grilled cheese with aged white cheddar and basil, I think? It was good but it wasn't worth my $7. The staff was nice though! The location is at the Magnolia market, beautiful place! We also ordered the big boss, that one was pretty good, probably because it has bacon in it. Again. The price was a little overrated. read more

Our first visit to Magnolia Market. This little truck eatery is a rip off. Over $12 for a small grilled cheese sandwich and a very small bottle of generic water. They almost force a tip on you, caught me off guard. People waiting behind me so I just pushed on through hoping for a good reward. Not happy. Sandwich was very anemic. Over in coin, $12+, found us looking for another bite to eat and another bottle of water. Poor value. Should not push tipping on the customer. Completely underwhelming. Not recommended. read more
