As the owner of two spoiled White Persian cats, I can keep up with brushing until the season change when they shed large clumps. In spite of routine brushing they knot easily when they are shedding and it's impossible to keep up with their grooming. Was my Aussie groomed or abused? I brought my sweet, gentle, miniature Aussie, Bindi to Kelly's Pet Grooming, 6579 Gateway Avenue last week. Her fur was thick and long, but not tangled or matted because she is brushed nightly. I requested a teddy bear cut with a powder puff tail. When I returned to get her I did not even recognize her. She had been totally shaved. She has multiple razor burns on her back and neck, blood oozing from her nipples, several nicks and cuts under her tail area. I can only imagine her terror as the clippers came toward her face. She was also shaved around her eyes and mouth. Why? Why would anyone do this to a dog? She was traumatized. After returning home she just laid on the floor softly moaning. For over two days, she only moved to go outside to relieve herself. I am sure she does not understand why, after devoting herself to us for 11 years, I left her to be treated like that. I will never forgive myself for taking her there, but I hope Bindi will forgive me for doing so. read more

They called to let us know they needed another hour to finish grooming my yorkie. Then it looked like two people took turns clipping each half of her. There was easily a half inch difference between left and right sides. Also, her right ear was cut, as were four of her nipples. I'm not a professional groomer, but I know I could have done a better job grooming her myself. I certainly wouldn't have drawn blood! I will never take her back there! I have brought my Teddy Bear puppy to be groomed several times to Kelly's. The place is small, staff are young, prices are reasonable. the last few times I came home the cuts were choppy, short, and not what I asked for, lack of attention, the last time they shaved my 9 month old puppy!!! My pups neck has two abrasions on each side, this was Sat 7/15, he slept all day was lethargic, whining, and wouldn't eat. as of today he is still not himself. I complained in person and called again later to no avail/ listen I know ppl vape but this place blows you away at the door! If I could give this place negative five stars I would. Dropped off my long haired chihuahua and said "don't give her a puppy cut bc my wife likes her front chest fur a little longer than the body" when they asked me what i wanted to do. Apparently since i said i wanted her to get her a little summer cut bc she always seems so hot right now they took it upon themselves to completely SHAVE her up to her neck and left her head completely long. Was this a sick joke?!? Did i ask you to make my little girl look like a lion. One of the women working there kept calling her HE and had a blue bandana tied around her neck. I mean, do they even know what the female anatomy looks like?!?! Who in their right mind would do this without first making sure this is what i wanted. I had to take her somewhere else to "fix" this massacre of a SHAVE job they did on my poor little girl. The "other" groomers jaw hit the ground and asked if a professional did this. I told them who and she shook her head and said "I can't believe they did this, it's not even finished. This is terrible". I WAS going to bring her back for them to blend in the fur around her silly looking long hair on her neck and head but to be honest I just don't trust them. So... I had to fork out another $25 for a real professional to do what she could so she didn't look like a complete fool. Maybe it was miscommunication?!? But I just don't see how someone could do this on purpose and then treat me like I was the one who specifically asked for it. I'm new to this area and Google'd "Cat Groomers near me". Kelly's was closest so I called. From my first phone contact until the time I left after they groomed my cat, it was a great experience! I brought my cat to Kelly's yesterday. He was matted and covered with fleas. I knew about the mattes but not the fleas. Kelly did an amazing job shaving him, trimmed his nails, and then flea dipped him for me as well. It took less that a half hour. She also recommended an inexpensive place to purchase flea treatments for my cat (and my house). The staff was very friendly and professional and I will happily go back there for all my cat's grooming needs. I'm so happy I found her shop. Highly recommended! read more

We have been taking our family dog for grooming here for several years. Each time he comes back with small nicks on him. This most recent visit, there was a large cut on the side of his neck, and four other small ones in various other places. The large one was covered by a holiday scarf, so it was not visible until we returned home. The cut got severely infected and we had to bring the dog to the vet. The wound reopened and is even larger and more infected now. We have several hundred dollars in vet bills up to this point because of the carelessness of the staff. We called to make them aware of the issue and they were extremely rude and never once apologized. They then put us on speaker phone and two of the employees were arguing back and and forth with us. She kept saying she's not in the business to hurt animals, however, their carelessness and negligence has caused severe damage. They are giving us a hard time about retrieving monetary compensation for vet bills. The vet determined this wound was 100% caused by their negligence and was willing to speak with them about it. The company decided to put it off until Monday, now causing us to have to wait several unnecessary days. This has been traumatic and stressful experience for not only our pet but our family as well. Our dog is currently covered in blood head to toe, with a chunk of skin hanging off of his neck, and is hiding in the bathroom. He hasn't slept, nor have we in a week. read more

We own a Persian cat and no matter how diligent my wife is about grooming, there comes a time the cat needs to be shaved down to the lion cut. It can be difficult to find a groomer willing to do the job anesthesia free. While my cat is in great health, I really don't want pills used to relax her or put her to sleep. No worry about that here. We are very comfortable dropping the cat off and she always looks great. Excellent groomers for concerned pet parents. Horrible! Her son did a horrible job, 20 minutes and he was done, trimmed so close he burnt the skin. When I called about it she said it will be fine just give it a few days. Meantime I had to take him to the vet because it was 3 days and he was still hurting. WOULD NEVER recommend, ever!!! read more
