What a cool experience. This place is kind of what you make it IMO.. do not go in if you don't intend to spend some money. If you're not going in for a hat, they've got some jackets, sweaters, and boots to look at (which was my original intention), but I quickly realized that the hat would be a one-of-a-kind item to own so I could not resist. The only reason for the 1-star off is mainly because the drinks they offered were a little disappointing for such a high end store. We waited outside for ~20 minutes since all the attendants were with customers, and only were offered canned drinks vs. actual drinks from the bar upstairs. (which btw, the bar upstairs is closed off normally unless you're a really high roller I think). With that said, when we got inside, I saw some customers getting actual cocktails made and brought down to them. Share the love eh? HOT TIP: When you walk in, the LEFT side of the store are their Beaver hats, an the RIGHT side of the store are their Rabbit hats (aka more affordable). For my rabbit hat I spent ~$600, which included some fabric around the base (~$10 per strand), some feathers (which are free) and the branding (which is free). It's not cheap but will last forever it seems (fine in rain and snow). I'd recommend stopping in to check it out for sure! read more

I have never been treated more rudely by staff in my entire life. I was looking at cowboy boots and tried to get someone's attention. At first, I thought it was coincidence but then it was so consistent that I realized they were actively ignoring me. I even said "excuse me" to a woman who walked right by me. Finally, I cornered someone and asked for two sizes to try on. She told me the price of them and didn't move. I had already looked at the price. She finally brought out the sizes. I ended up buying two pair and I genuinely love them. Unfortunately, I will never walk into this store again. I am baffled at how consistently this seems to be an issue. It's as if they're trained to discriminate by whatever metric they see fit. I needed another hat like I needed a hole in the head, but I was transfixed from the moment I entered. I'm a FIEND for all things Western and this place was a truly magical experience. We had a terrible experience here at this location of Kemo Sabe. We have been to the Aspen store before but we were here at the Vail location on Thanksgiving day. My husband wanted to bring me there for a Christmas gift and we ended spending a huge amount of money. We got a hat, boots and a coat. I wore the coat right out of the store and the minute we left the flimsy belt loop broke. We were dealing with Luisa who assured us that if we shipped the coat when we got home, the designer would be back in the store in December and they would ship me a brand new coat. There were also scuff marks on the coat at the time but they didn't have another in the store. We exchanged numbers and by the time the dates came and went, I didn't get any updates. They sent a label for postage. Somebody from the store called and nobody had communicated anything with her. She told me that the designer was not making any more so and had no idea why I had returned the coat. Then she said they would "fix the beltloop" (which was a tiny string and I wish I just kept the coat because I didn't see it again for 2 months. They called and for the 3rd time I gave them my address to send me back the coat. I had to call the store a few times until I finally got the coat back in January. It was a bad experience and the only explanation was that Luisa dropped the ball. For the amount of money we spent there, I will never shop here again. There was no real apology offered. read more

Everyone is so warm, welcoming and so chill! They work well as a team and you are having so much fun inside you forget that you are shopping! I liked the whole staff a lot, but I am partial to Kristen. After talking to her for a few minutes, my husband and I felt like we were talking to a friend. She's one of the best sales people I've ever had! The products are well worth the price. Handmade and each original. You get to pick your hat and then design it with tons of different jewelry and you can brand with your initials. I picked 3 pieces. Choices are endless. My husband and I walked out, 3 pairs of boots later and each wearing our new cowboy hats. I don't write online reviews ever, but I feel that I've had no choice but to write about this because of my frustrating experience with Kemosabe. I went to the Vail store and wanted to buy some boots. They didn't have them in my size so they said they'd order them from the Aspen store and have them delivered to my house in 4-5 days. Those days came and went and my boots never showed up. I emailed customer support to see what was going on, as they had never sent me a confirmation email or any shipping information so that I could track the package. Anyways, after receiving a call from customer support, I was told that it was their fault that they hadn't shipped the order, and that they would get it to me by tomorrow. I was satisfied with that answer and waited for the boots. A few days had passed, and still no boots. I emailed and called customer support and after a few days they finally told me that they were going to refund me for the boots, without a sound explanation as to why they couldn't ship it, or why they didn't bother to tell me until I had to reach out multiple times. They did refund me for the boots, but not for the pricey shipping fee. I told them this and they said they'd look into it within the next couple of days. I've been told this multiple times already, that someone is on vacation or that they are out of office. I don't feel that they are pursuing this urgently at all. I am still dealing with this as it has been over 2 weeks since I've purchased these boots. I've been kept in the dark about what is going on. I assume that they never ordered my boots, and in the meantime sold them to someone else, hence the prompt refund. For such a prestigious brand, I'm shocked at the lack of accountability and recklessness Kemosabe has been with my money and time. I didn't want to be that person and complain online, but I feel that I have no other choice than to make this public. For anyone who is thinking about ordering from Kemosabe and having your item delivered: don't. read more

They were excellent in helping us make the right decision for our hats. They went above and beyond in bringing in a hat from aspen for my friend before she left so she could take it home. SO disappointed with the entire experience. When I walked in I began trying on hats. I was in the store 10-15 minutes and not a single sales person approached me. A drunk employee came to me and gave me a glass of champagne and when I asked her to help me she said "I'm only the lonely bartender, but I'll get someone for you." Waited and waited. No one came. We went up stairs to get a drink hoping more help would be given. Courtney had a terrible attitude, and made several passive aggressive comments essentially telling us to hurry up. Ripoff. They advertised in the Vail Daily they were having a "Locals Sale". When I asked about it they danced around it and said they just have the same items as on their corporate website and that there is nothing special for locals and they dont verify your local residence. I was looking for a hat and they had one table with a few of the same hats just different colors and sizes all the cheapest ones on the corporate website and none of the more higher priced sale items. Also when sizing me they tried some of the hats on me with different colors and even though the same size, some fits like a vice and some you could spin on my head. Their excuse was "they are handmade and vary in fit!!!!". This place is a joke and should be shut down. Also no one was buying but rather just heading to the bar area. Why not just call it a bar. What an amazing experience relative to customer service! I am not a huge Western dress kind of guy, but a friend of mine told me this was one of his favorite stores in Vail. I know why now! They have an amazing selection of curated boots, vintage Louis Vuitton repurposed bags, great 's, and William Henry Knives, pens/ money clips to just name a few. Laura and her coworkers were incredible. They spent time getting to know us, asking friendly questions, and all without feeling any pressure of making a sale. The first night we came it was just a cool opportunity to browse. They invited us back with a note to come during happy hour I came back a following visit to purchase an amazing knife, that will be incredible to pass down to my son one day.
