I had my Lapiplasty bunion surgery with Dr. Nguyen in January 2023, and I cannot say enough great things about him and my entire experience. From the very first consultation to my final follow-ups, Dr. Nguyen was exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely caring. I have severe case of Fibromyalgia extremely painful especially when having surgery on my severe broken Ankle that this Outstanding wonderful so down to earth extremely Knowledgeable doctor had repaired it! Sadly due to being Diabetic with Fibromyalgia and my body building excessive calcium my Ankle took a long while to heal because of my body Not because of this Superb Doctor! Sent my fiance here to get her foot check out as she was in a lot of pain. Sadly I was not able to go with her but figured it shouldnt be a big deal for her to see the doctor. When she showed up, the office was closed and had a flier outside saying that the office had moved. When she went to the next place she said the office looked like it wasnt even ready and no one was there. After sitting on hold for 15 min no one picked up and was not able to make the appointment. While this review is not about the doctors ability, I am extremely disappointed in the professionalism of the staff. She made the appointment the day before so there is no reason they could not have informed her about the office change or whatever was going on. No mention of it on the website. read more

Doctor seen my son for foot/heel pain and he recommended orthotics. My son was scheduled for a follow up fitting appointment ONE MONTH later. The follow up appointment date came and I received a call from his office on the morning of... not the day or week before, but the morning of the appointment - to cancel. They told me that the Doctor ran out of the material used to do the fitting for the orthotics and that we would have to reschedule for a future date. I explained to them that my son was in pain and needed the orthotics soon and needed an appointment that week. Two days later, we get a call from his office at about 1 PM (while we're at work) and they wanted us to take our son to the Doctor's office to get get fitted at 3 PM, and that was the only available appointment for the week. They also told us that if we wanted to reschedule an appointment we would have to wait an additional two weeks! Obviously we couldn't make that time with such short notice (and the fact that we were at work). A Doctor who truly cares about his patients would not let this happen. How can you not have the needed material for an appointment that was scheduled one month in advance! As patients, or parents of patients, we need to take time off work to make these appointments. When a Doctor and his office pulls a stunt like this, it shows the lack of care for the patients well being and a lack of respect for their time. read more

I visited three different doctors for ankle pain. Had damage from motorcycle accident. The three doctors recommended amputation, Dr Nguyen stated we can save your foot and did. Dr Nguyen always listens to you and absolutely does not rush you. He has excellent bedside manners. He now cares for my wife and daughter as well. He is a great doctor and person. Dr. Nguyen is amazing! My husband had major foot pain. I made an appt with Dr. Nguyen and he quickly diagnosis my husbands problem. Within weeks my husband was having surgery to repair the issue. The surgery went so well and his recovery has been amazing. Dr. Nguyen explained the problem and surgery is such detailed and answered all our concerns. We met Dr. Nguyen after my dad was admitted to PIH with a bacterial infection that was not treated properly under the care of another podiatrist in Whittier. The infection was so bad my dad was in the hospital for 10 days. Thanks to the expert care provided by Dr. Nguyen my father is recovering better than anyone expected. Dr. Nguyen's bedside manner is excellent and I appreciated his patience with my dad who has a language barrier. He even called me on my cell phone a few times to give me an update on my dad's condition when i was not at the hospital. He outlined a clear treatment plan for him and communicated with the other doctors in his care team. This doctor turned out to be a huge blessing for our family. Dr. Nguyen is one of the very BEST podiatrists around--skilled and a consummate professional, patient and kind. Besides operating in his private practice here in La Mirada, Dr. Nguyen is also affiliated with Whittier PIH and works with the Wound Healing Center there which is an important consideration for anyone who suffers from chronic foot wounds that might need continuous care in the event hospitalization is required. Dr. Nguyen worked tirelessly this last year to heal my partner's chronic foot wounds that were diabetes-related. Another surgeon might have forced surgery and amputation, but Dr. Nguyen respected my partner's wishes and debrided and treated him week after week and finally we are 100% healed up and all better. Now we're back to just routine maintenance once a month or so in his La Mirada office where it's always a pleasure to see his courteous staff. You will not go wrong with Dr. Nguyen or his super team, either in his office or at Whittier PIH's Wound Healing Center which is also FANTASTIC. read more

Dr. Ken Nguyen is a fantastic podiatrist. I had been to another podiatrist in the Whittier area for a "simple" ankle arthroscopic surgery. That surgery ended up with problems and was sent to the PIH wound healing center. Unfortunately that doctor (dr. #2) was not what we had hoped for and more problems occurred. Finally, my daughter-n-law highly recommended that I see Dr. Nguyen (dr. #3). How we wished we had started with him. He had to fix multiple issues that had developed including a collapsed ankle and bone dying, after closing the hole in the side of my ankle, from the results of first surgery. Multiple surgeries later, I am still under his care as he works to correct all that had happened. We appreciate his expertise, his kindness and his knowledge of the issues faced with. He and his staff have answered any questions raised. I agree with others who have written that he has the best bed side manners and is genuinely concerned for my well being. Being more fragile in recovery due to the many challenges faced, the recovery is purposely slow so as to not damage what has been gained. I've been with Dr. Nguyen now for 2 years of the 3 years I've been dealing with the ankle problem. I praise God and Dr. Nguyen for where I am now compared to 2 years ago, where I was not able to weight bear on this ankle, drive or walk. I'm able to walk, slower and with a crutch while out of the house, but still, it's walking. I'm able to drive to most of my appointments whether they be medical or social within a certain distance. I count Dr. Nguyen as a friend and I highly recommend him to anyone who has a need for a podiatrist. You know you have a caring doctor when they do all they can do (& really more from him) in order to advance you in your recovery so that you may stand up at your son's wedding only weeks after removing an external fixator to correct the collapsed ankle joint. And, shortly after prepare you so you can be at your daughter's wedding in Costa Rica. He is a horrible doctor. He sent me for an MRI which showed I had a torn tendon, but beyond that he couldn't explain why or how it happened. He diagnosed my foot problem by saying "I just had a bad foot", "It was messed up".........not very clinical. I have a college education & am confident I can understand a more medical diagnosis. I was supposed to wear a boot walker for a month which became 2 months then 3 months, at which point I asked "how much longer" and "If I didn't know what caused the problem, how was I going to be able to make sure it didn't happen again" his reply was just that I might need to wear the boot 1 or 2 more months. He asked if I had orthodics, & said it would be a good idea to wear them in the boot walker. I was surprised at this because 1) Of course I had orthodics, HE was the one who made them for me! And 2) After 3 months of wearing the boot without my orthodics, he said I should be wearing them??? How much more damage could this have caused to my foot? I was so frustrated, after 3 months, I still didn't have any answers as to how this happened, and how it was going to be fixed. The final straw was when we were discussing (or at least I thought we were) what the long term treatment plan was so that the problem could be fixed & I would be able to walk pain free in the future. Well...........as I was asking a question, he walked to the doorway, said to make an appointment in 2 weeks, and left the room. I was shocked! I sat there is disbelief. Did he actually just walk out of the room while I was talking to him??? I could not believe it, I was so frustrated and now upset, that I walked directly out of the office. As I walked out, the receptionist asked if I was "OK" I told her "No I wasn't" She asked if I was going to make a follow up appointment and I told her "Never, I wouldn't be coming back again, and neither would any of my family" I have never had an experience like this with a doctor in all my 47 years.
