He performed my first surgery in 2016 (Koflex stabilizing device) and again on January 12, 2026 (L3-S1) I delayed surgery for a long time, but when I was finally ready, he and his team were there every step of the way. Ivy Johnson is an excellent PA--she truly listens, communicates clearly, and makes you feel at ease with any concerns. The entire office is wonderful--professional, supportive, and attentive. A special thank you to Esmeralda, his medical assistant, who is incredibly organized and always on top of everything. She really makes a difference. Amazing office/team. Dr. Ali was great. He acknowledged my concerns head on and greeted me with a reassuring handshake. I came in for pain that I was having on my lower back (L5-S1). My first time here wasn't the best. Showed up for my 2:15pm appointment but didn't get a room till 2:50pm. Then I didn't get to see the doctor till 4:35pm. When I went to ask what was going on, I was advised that the doctor was had emergency and was back up. But the thing is why do I have to ask, should the staff advise the patients that there is a delay because x reason instead of making us wait not knowing when we might see the doctor. I got irritated because of the lack of communication and transparency. By the time I saw the doctor I already was late for work and I had to rush my appointment. 2 hours just to get seen is ridiculous, I can understand if I hadn't made an appointment or I was at an emergency room. read more

I am a 73 year active female (3 1/2 Ironman in the last 3 years, swimmer, trail hiking, etc) and was dealing with lower back pain that could no longer be managed by my active lifestyle. I honestly only lasted this long without having surgery because of my lifestyle. I am now 5 months post op for a spinal fusion from S1-L3. Dr Lin was through in his review. From getting full MRI of total spine, PT for 6 weeks prior to MRI (insurance protocol), and a shot (which had no effect), we decided that surgery was the only option. Dr Lin was honest, supportive and a partner in my advocacy for myself for a successful recovery. Genevieve also was open and informative as I prepared for the surgery with the process. Both Dr Lin and Genevieve were attentive to my needs in the hospital and after I got home (had pain issues that had to be addressed) Recovery has been tough, but each week to each month, I can see improvement. As I moved along in my recovery at 3 months, Dr Lin was more that favorable in my personal goals to move more (with moderation) into swimming, more walking(hills), and riding my bike on my trainer. After 4 months I moved into water PT therapy and as well as swimming 2-3 times a week (1 mile in each swim). Dr. Lin did major neck fusion on my husband. He had to remove hardware from a previous surgery (not done by Dr. Lin) and fuse above and below the previous fusion. He was not only a great surgeon (my husband is recovering very well and the pain he experienced before is gone) but he takes time to discuss options and actions. Also I cannot say enough good things about his office staff. Genevieve his PA was outstanding and was responsive on a Sunday when we needed medicine refill and the pharmacy didn't have what was prescribed. She texted me right back anytime I reached out to her. I would not recommend this practice at all. 1. They NEVER answer the phone. EVER! It ALWAYS goes to voicemail. 2. If you leave a voicemail, don't expect a callback. Out of 4-5 voicemails, you might receive one callback. Maybe. 3. IF (and I emphasize 'IF'!) you receive a callback, it will be days or even a week or more after you left a message. 4. It takes FOREVER to see anyone - even for a first consult. And then, it takes weeks after the consult to get your first pain management appointment. My first actual 'pain management' treatment took two months from my first phone call. When you are in constant pain, waiting two months for relief is an eternity. And unacceptable. read more

After having three back-to-back epidurals that unfortunately did nothing to eliminate my severe back pain, my Family Practitioner referred me to Dr. Lin for a consult for Spine Surgery. Had surgery with Dr. Ali in January 2024. I was having pain and numbness that went from my back down my legs. There were days I could not even walk. Dr. Ali did my surgery and I have felt great since. When being discharged from the hospital, I was told to go home and rest. I was able to go up my stairs to bed immediately after getting home from the hospital and was able to walk everyday after. It's now September 2024, and I feel absolutely wonderful. FIVE STARS *****I highly recommend Dr. Eric Lin for spinal surgery. I personally had surgery on my L4 and L5 3 years ago. I had extreme pain running down my entire right leg. I could barely walk. after the surgery, my pain was completely gone. I am able to do all my daily activities and then some. Just recently my husband had to have back surgery on his L4 and L5 again, Dr. Lin repaired his back. He is back to his normal life after a few months. Was not a good experience here. When you set appointments, you don't end up being assisted until well over an hour after your scheduled appointment. We asked the nurse when we got there if we would be out of there an hour an a half after we arrived, and she said definitely. Well, an hour and a half went by and I hadn't even seen the doctor yet. So, we got our money back and left. Make sure you have no plans at all for a few hours after your appointment here because they really overbook patients and you won't be out of there for a few hours. read more

I had my second surgery with Dr Lin on 4/20/21 C3-C5. Their is still pain however it has been too soon to say we have full success. Plus I had a fusion on C5-C6 from 30 years ago that complicated things. However, on 7/15/20 I had surgery with Dr Lin on L3-S1 and I can tell you this is much much better than it was pre-surgery. More flexibility and way less pain. Regarding Dr Lin, Genevieve, and Renee I cannot say enough positive things about all three. Genevieve and Renee respond usually immediately and quickly put my mind at ease. Whether it is involving followup care or insurance issues they both have been excellent to work with. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lin and his team. For myself I will continue to work with them as we move forward. read more

I had surgery on the 3rd of Jan. 2023 Dr Ali and his staff were not only very nice but they were attentive to my needs. The surgery was on my C spine C4 C5 C6 & C7 they had me in and out of surgery and back at home all in the same day. I couldn't believe it could be done that fast. With the understanding that everyone is different, including pain levels, ability to manage pain and spine issues In my personal experience Dr. Lin and his assistant Genevieve are the closest thing to a miracle. I had an L4-5 lumbar fusion this past January 2024... 4 months later I can say that my quality of life has improved 80% after near 4 years of unbelievable pain, epidurals every 6 months, days when I literally crawled out of bed. I had seen a "top surgeon" that dismissed my condition after the 2nd MRI "looked better", appointments would be as far as 4 months and he sent me back for more epidurals because he had patients with more severe conditions. Thank heavens for my pain management doctor that issued a 2nd referral to Dr. Lin. After the first appointment to review my MRI I felt hope after many years. Of course, you have to understand that nothing will make you 100% perfect, I have aged and so have my bones. Immediately after surgery (of course there was the surgery pain) I was able to notice the difference. Since my surgery my pain levels have dropped easily to a 3-4 out of a 9-10 that I lived with. I can say that I can absolutely manage to live with a mild discomfort from time to time but never the pains that would restrict me from the most simple activities like walking for a block. Dr. Lin is in my experience one of the most caring and knowledgeable surgeons ever. I certainly hope you have the opportunity to put your care into Dr. Lin's hands. Absolutely horrible communication and customer service, no follow up on referrals and authorizations, you can't get a live person on the phone, no one will return my call after numerous attempts to reach them. Got hung up on in the midst of scheduling an injection - never got a call back and I cannot reach them. My review is in regards to Dr. Eric L. Lin, M.D., and his Office Team. My issue has been an on going problem for years. My primary doctor referred me to Dr.Lin. I didn't follow up until the pain was constant and unbearable. After reviewing my file history and x-rays, Dr.Lin gave me 3 level of options. I selected option 3, without hesitation, then I asked for the soonest date available for the operation. The main procedure was a Lumbar Fusion surgery. [**Every situation is different, including recovery] The only other procedure I've had was a gallbladder removal. The recovery process was just as easy. If I wasn't experiencing such pain I'm sure I'd be a bit stressed. Although when you're in such pain, my stress level or concern of the operation was nonexistent. As I mentioned to Dr.Lin, "please, just fix me". Prior to my initial appointment with Dr.Lin, I had no knowledge of him or his Office Staff. After my operation, I've had the pleasure of hearing positive comments from various people. The first interaction was during my admittance appointment. The nurse filling out my hospital admittance packet for my surgery was the first to mention Dr.Lin. She took made time to talk about how much of a great job he's done and I was in good hands. She went on to make it a point to discuss how professional and how skilled he is. I too want to make a point to mention a few of the other instances Dr.Lin's work was complemented, x-ray visits, physical therapy, and a few other locations, non medical locations, including my Acupuncturist. Who happens to NOT be in my insurance coverage ! I've become accustomed to hearing the response such as, "oh, nice Dr.Lin", or "ah, yes, Dr.Lin, you are so lucky", or even this one, "Dr. Lin, how did you know to request for him?" There are a few others I'm unable to remember, all positive. I do feel lucky, blessed actually. Dr.Lin's Staff, the Team, there is no equal, top notch. No matter how often I contacted them, ALL are Fantastic, nice, helpful, professional, informative, willing is Key. Dr.Lin's support team is entirely on the next level. From Genevieve, Renee, Ray, just to name a few. ALL are so helpful, and so Nice . . . No matter how many questions I had. My recovery was also positive, without need of any pain medication - to this day, medication not needed. As I mentioned before, I am blessed. Prior to my surgery, I did change my diet from a low carb diet to a Carnivore diet, and directly after the surgery I fasted a few days. Adhering to a Carnivore diet a few weeks after being released from the hospital. Physical Therapy helped quite a bit, along with rest and awareness of my temporary new physical limitations. I will complete one year since the surgery as of July 20223. All is well, so far so good. Dr.Lin and Crew have the ability to set the stage for you with help from YOU. Self awareness and care are required no matter the situation. I hope this review helps, please keep in mind to be open minded and ask questions from more than one source. read more

Now located in Irvine. They do improper billing. They do not answer phone. My own doctor who worked there told me to leave and then left themself. So now i work with the doc directly. This is the last place you wanna go. Just find some place else. The two girls that work at the location are useless. Dr. Lin is amazing. I had a Laminectomy with him in March 2021 with excellent results. I have been pain free since recovery. No issues. Not only does he have great bedside manner, he listens and wants to help. I can't say enough about this surgeon as well as his staff.
