    Engagement shoot!

You have to work with Ken, he is phenomenal! I wish I could leave 1000 reviews. I never post on yelp, but I knew I had to start with him. Ken is an amazing photographer-- my husband and I did our engagement shoot with him last year and just recently, our wedding this week! He is attentive, kind, creative, and able to capture exactly what I wanted in my photos. We discussed what kind of lighting I wanted, who I wanted in my family photos, and reviewed my pinterest boards to get an idea of what kind of shots I wanted. I received countless compliments on my engagement photos and almost everyone at my wedding commented on how amazing it was to see him work. He was respectful of private moments with family and friends, but also mindful to guide me through the super busy day to make sure we didn't leave any photos I wanted off my list. He even recognized I was feeling tired in the middle of our shoot and needed a break from it all-- pulled me aside for a cold beverage and some breathing room. I was so touched! Ken is a true professional. He is a master of his craft, caring, and such a calming presence in an otherwise stressful day. Exactly what you need in someone who is capturing all your special moments! He has an expert eye for catching the right shots and I follow him on instagram (highly recommended!) so I can also enjoy him capturing the love of other couples too. I'd better stop before I get too teary-eyed writing this review. Thank you Ken, for an amazing experience!

    V Sattui Winery vineyard November 22, 2014

My husband and I got married at V Sattui Winery last November. The venue provided us with a list of vendors that they recommended for catering, photography, flowers, etc. Ken Viale was one of the photographers on that list. We made an appointment to meet him and he suggested meeting in the lobby at The Marriot Hotel in Napa Valley. It was a very relaxed meeting Previous to meeting with him I had taken the time to look through all the photos in his portfolio on his website. I fell in love with all the photos! I really liked his style, especially the candid pictures. From the moment we met Ken we liked him very much! He appeared to be very easy to get along with, a professional, and a genuinely nice guy. He told us that the way he works, we wouldn't even know he was there. He "hides" in the background. When my husband and I got our pictures from Ken, and we were looking through all of them, I mentioned to my husband that I didn't even remember seeing Ken during our ceremony or at the reception! Ken really is a professional. On the day of my wedding I found out that Ken was dealing with a double ear infection. He never complained and never showed that he was uncomfortable or in pain. He was so focused on getting the best pictures for our wedding day. Thank you Ken! He was very open to any ideas we had. Because he photographed many times at the venue where we married, he let us know that he knew exactly where to get the best shots. And he did get those magnificent shots! My husband and I had our ceremony outside in November and at that time of year it gets dark early. Ken was familiar with our timeline and assured us that he would get some great "first look" photos before the wedding. We couldn't have been more pleased with the beautiful shots Ken took: from me in my wedding dress alone (he made me feel so special) to pictures of me and my husband in the vineyard to our reception. We were lucky to have Ken there to capture our absolute joy! One thing that was funny and very nice of Ken was when he was photographing just me alone (bride). I was a little worried and maybe nervous about everything going smoothly. He was photographing me and then would occasionally reach into his hip bag and retrieve Altoid mints for me so I would relax. I thought it was funny and it did help me relax :-)

I rarely like photos of myself but loved the finished product! It was incredible that such a brief, easy 30-min session (and one booked last minute besides!) could yield so many amazing shots (that were delivered within days! I did the rush option). Not only were the photos spectacular, Hilary was also just truly such a joy to be around during the shoot - can't wait to recommend her to everyone I know looking for a photographer!!

She's wonderful with our kids--whether it was a newborn, a fussy toddler, or now more cooperative school-aged kids, she's been able to capture beautiful moments through every stage. One year my younger daughter was especially shy and grumpy about photos, but you'd never know it from the gorgeous images Hilary delivered. She's also great with pets and even got our dog to "smile" at the camera for a few shots this year! We included my parents in a session one year, and Hilary handled the larger family group seamlessly. She also has a great eye for locations, whether it's a tried-and-true spot or somewhere new, and she always makes the most of the setting. On top of that, her pricing is very reasonable, especially since you get to keep all the images from your session, and she's always prompt with delivery. Hilary makes family photos stress-free and fun, and the results are consistently stunning--we look forward to working with her every year.

I knew from the moment I saw her work that Christina was going to be the right choice, and she did not disappoint. Tons of positives: - she was easy to communicate and plan with, even when I wanted to switch one of my locations the week of the shoot - she made us both feel comfortable in front of the camera, which is no small task - she was flexible with my ideas, but also brought her own to the table - photos were back even sooner than I'd expected, and were of the quality I'd seen on her website But I think what I liked best was Christina herself. She was extremely pleasant to work with, and treated my casual event with the same professionalism and respect that she would a wedding. She had very positive presence and brought a really good energy and enthusiasm to the shoot. She was a lot of fun and brought out the best in my partner and me. I'm so glad I selected Christina and Nightingale Photography, and she would absolutely be my first choice if I were to need a photographer again. Thank you!

In our case, we even have excellent photographers and fancy cameras in the family, but capturing our 1-year old as anything but a blur and getting a picture of all three of us together was next to impossible. I had been keeping tabs on Joey's work for some time and when we were ready, I went through his gallery and wrote to all the friends I recognized who he had done sessions with (he's the go-to guy in the City now, apparently!). They unanimously said that he was easy to work with, professional, and caught the shots they were looking for. So we set it up! One of things I was struck by was how easy the logistics were, such as paying the deposit online, filling out a pre-shoot survey that asked helpful questions about what we had in mind, and choosing shots for prints from our gallery on his website. Joey is also affordable and turns the photos around quickly--we were able to choose shots to frame for Christmas presents within a few days of our session. The company he gets prints through was also speedy and the quality was perfect (especially compared to the DIY photo site options I've been floundering with this past year). Most importantly, Joey's documentary style of shooting was the right fit for us. He knows the city and it's backdrops extremely well, but I liked that he recommended we stay in our neighborhood so that when we look back at the photos, we will remember this time in our lives. Plus it made our kiddo more comfortable to be in his own space, playing with his own stuff. I was nervous that it was starting to rain and we wanted some outdoor shots, but it was no problem! We have some pretty lush landscaping in our condo complex that we showed Joey and he lit up, seeing the possibilities and taking some of the best shots of the bunch. And being a father himself, he has a cool, easy-going way with kids that brings out their best. We are totally thrilled with the process and the results and will definitely use Joey again.

What really sets Joey apart from other wedding photographers (besides his stunning photographs) is his level of service. Joey responds quickly to any question or concern. Even though Joey has a full roster of clients, he really goes out of his way to make you feel like you are the only wedding in the world with how much attention he gives you. He asked all the right questions to make sure he was prepared with what we wanted for our wedding day. In fact, he thought of things I would have never remembered to do or ask, and really saved a lot of mini-disasters from occurring with his insights. I could have probably hired him to be my wedding planner as well! Joey was also a calming and awesome vendor for the day of the wedding. He was very concerned with my comfort, and making sure my husband and I were taken care of. Despite the size of my wedding, and being pulled in lots of directions by my family, Joey was never flustered. He was super easy going and rolled with the punches, a necessity for any wedding. Even more amazing, our photo booth vendor cancelled at 1:00am the day of our wedding. When Joey heard about it, he created a makeshift photo booth for our guests on the spot! It was definitely not in his job description, and nobody asked him to do it, he just came up with it, and made it work. You can't beat that level of concern for your client. I also loved how stealthy Joey was. I barely noticed him running around taking photographs. But when you see his photos of those special moments, its as if he was right next to you the entire time! He managed to capture the most beautiful and intimate shots, without being in the middle of them. Even after the wedding, Joey still delivers amazing responsiveness and concern for his clients. Joey had proofs and a slide show ready in two weeks, which is incredibly fast for a photographer. When I saw the photos, I was so happy with the way they turned out. My entire family was also thrilled with them. And Joey makes ordering photos so easy and convenient with his online system. All in all, Joey is a great photographer and runs an exceptional business. His prices were very reasonable and included so many extras, like a engagement session and a beautiful photo album. One of my bridesmaids at the wedding who got married a few years ago said she wished she had found him when she was booking a photographer years ago because of how he conducted himself, how he made me feel, and how amazing his photos were. When your guests notice how great your photographer is, you know you've found someone special. His exquisite photos, amazing customer service, and all around easy going nature make him exactly the person you want to hire as you go through the wedding process. Book before some other smart bride does or he figures out how incredible he is and starts doing celebrity weddings!
